My go-to when in PV out of 9 days 7 where eaten here. Seriously my ultimate favorite place not just for the delicious food but the staff are amazingly attentive and outgoing and work very hard and they are truly genuine souls. I love the atmosphere. If you want to stay and relax and chill while sipping a cocktail or chatting with friends it's ok they don't rush or bother you. Also if you are in a hurry and want to eat and dash they will be more rapido. Very warm and inviting atmosphere too. From the owner to the bus boys there all great people I'm happy to patronize this place the food is always fresh hot and delicious ample portions and even better prices I highly recommend this place.

From Great to Mediocre Under New Management

Fajita Republic used to be one of my favourite restaurants in PVR, where we have been spending winters for 10+ years. They recently underwent a renovation to "make it more trendy" and unfortunately it seems the food has gone downhill since then. The Arrecheras arrived covered in lukewarm melted cheese, the ribs were boiled and fatty, and the shrimps overcooked. Bring back the old chef, or until they bring the food back to it's previous standards we'll be heading elsewhere on Basilio Badillo!

The best thing was the people watching. Very busy area, so we had a great view of the street scene. The food was good and I’d probably go back.... if I wasn’t in a hurry. The service was slow. The table boy (the guy that brought chips and cleared away food) was way more attentive than the actual server. He was pretty absent most of the time. In fact we had to ask the table boy for our check.

Best of Basillio!

We spend every winter in Puerto Vallarta, and eat dinner out nearly every night. We’ve always stopped by Fajita Republic once or twice a season—when we were craving great fajitas—but we started going more regularly last year, when it was still a little slower than normal in PV due to the pandemic. We met Santiago then who is a truly phenomenal server. He appears to care for all guests in a way we don’t often experience anywhere. The entire staff is truly exceptional (I do think the best in PV) and they welcome us graciously with a smile and a greeting each and every time we visit—very “Cheers”. The food is consistently delicious and affordable, the servers are incredibly attentive and friendly, and the location really can’t be beat (the foot traffic and local street performers are always always entertaining). We now come by two or three nights a week for an easy, delicious dinner. If you’re looking for great food on Basilio Badillo—with incredible, friendly service, Fajita Republic should not be missed.

Really enjoyed our meal and more importantly service in this restaurant- waiters could not be nicer even if they tried . Very friendly welcome, service and offered plenty of advice. My veggie chimichanga was huuuuuuuuge ( wasn’t so keen on having a pineapple in there, but it is a personal choice). Partner’s chicken fajitas were yum as he doesn’t like spicy food. If you do, ask the waiters to add some heat. Thanks so much Fajita Republic Team - amazing service

Excellent Service and Food

I was promptly greeted and seated when I walked in. Shortly after, a server approached me and got my drink order and left a menu. So many items on the menu looked amazing. I chose chicken fajita and in a very reasonable time my order came out on a cart and stopped about 6-8 feet from the table. They poured a liquid on the chicken and set up on fire. Nice production and cooking style. The order came with about 8 condiments to add to my plate to make the meal just the way I would like it. Overall, the service was great and the food was fantastic. This will now be one of my to-go places when ever I’m in Puerto Vallarta.

One of our regular restaurants when in PV. Excellent waiters, good tasting food, more than adequate helping sizes, fair pricing: three drinks, great appetizers, entrees for two plus 20% tip, $56. Walk away full and happy. Excellent menu. Only drawback was slow delivery of entrees—20 minutes or so.

The coconut shrimp was over battered and overcooked. We spoke to the waiter nicely and he was quite rude saying “we should have told him earlier” However we were unable to get his attention until it was cold. We did not receive an offer to redo the dish and paid full price even though it was not edible. We gave the restaurant 2 stars as it was a good people watching spot. The Fajita Republic in Nuevo Vallarta is much better.

This place has so much potential to be amazing—- good location, great ambiance with nice lighting and reasonably priced options! I was so disappointed by our dining experience. We ordered a skinny strawberry margarita (we were only given a card on the table with five drink choices although I did see people having other things). The drink was very bitter and sour like grapefruit and while I tried my best to drink it, I eventually sent it back but was still charged for it. We ordered the chicken and rib combo, and chose a baked potato as the side. While I wasn’t expecting anything fancy for the price point, the ribs had very little meat and the chicken was dry. Overall presentation is poor— for a few pesos more, some greens could be added to the plate to balance it out. We always walk by this place and see people eating fajitas which look amazing— but the restaurant promotes itself as a rib joint; this place has a bit of an identity crisis going on but as I’ve already mentioned, it has the potential to be great.

Fun at the Parade

Five of us enjoyed the great food (fajita's of course) and the entertainment of the procession of people walking by. Lots of great people watching as we dined on a variety of fajitas with bowls of extras. Reasonable service on a very busy night!

It was closed during covid so glad to see it open again. The fajitas are always good there but let me tell you about the appetizers we got. We ordered guacamole and cheese sticks. First the guac order was large (order more chips for this) and the cheese sticks came in a lava bowl with the sticks in a boiling green sauce of some type. We ended up putting it on everything. It is out of this world. We are older and have eaten a LOT Mexican food and this was the best sauce ever!!! The other three in the party agreed also.

We just arrived in Puerto Vallarta the day we ate here. Fajita Republic is located in the Romatica Zone. We were staying in a nearby condo. We got a seat on the outside which is actually the main street Basillio Badillio. If you are comfortable with a lot of street traffic, cars and people it is a fun place to sit. You can people watch all you like. The chairs and tables outside are a bit higher, more bar level. If you like your feet on the ground you can get a table inside which is wide open to the outside. I enjoyed my food here. There were 4 of us and we all ordered lime margaritas, mine is on the rocks. We all quite liked our margaritas so our dinner was off to a good start. They also brought us some salsa and chips and they were quite good. I had tortilla soup which was delicious and then I had shrimp fajitas. I always have shrimp when I go to Puerto Vallarta because I think it is the best shrimp anywhere. I was not disappointed. My fajita and fixings were fresh and delicious. The service was quick and friendly. I also thought the price was quite reasonable.

We visited in December. We were walking by and saw this place. The food looked delicious so we decided to return the following day since we had already had something to eat elsewhere. We were so looking forward to this. We ordered the shrimp and steak fajitas. Maybe it was an off night. When we received our shrimp fajitas the shrimp looked like it had just been boiled and thrown on top of the veggies. Absolutely no flavor. We had to ask for the garlic butter because it was so bland. The steak fajitas were good but everything else was just bland. Even the drinks were bland. Such great reviews and unfortunately it wasnt good for us at all. Also, we had barely stopped eating and the waitress came over and asked if we were done and before we could even answer the table was cleared of everything. Unfortunately we had horrible service and cannot recommend this place.

We ate at the Fajita Republic during our trip to PV 2/17-2/27/21. As always, the service was top notch and the food is excellent. They are very careful about placement of tables due to COVID as well as cleaning each table after the customer has left. Despite a 75% reduction in tourists, they are still providing excellent food, drinks and service.

We had to begin homemade chips and salsa. Then melted cheese and flour tortillas. Our meal was a combo fajitas with shrimp, chicken and beef. It was amazing. It came with beans, rice, crema, guacamole, pico, cheese. Omg. Amazing. Waiters were great also.
