About
If you enjoy European sidewalk cafés and fine continental cuisine, this award-winning eatery evoking Old Vienna at its heyday is sure to charm you. A longtime Vallarta favorite, Austrian owner Andreas Rupprechter named the place in honor of fellow countryman, Mexico’s former emperor. And Maximilian himself would have loved dining here, perhaps, choosing hearty comfort food like Wienerschnitzel with potatoes and Austrian salad. Or delving into gourmet renditions of contemporary European fare, like Duo of duck breast and duck confit with Spätzle, mushrooms and sugar snap peas. And while the menu is constantly being tweaked, it’s nice knowing that some things don’t change, and for a dozen of years

Went there for breakfast. The service was quick (hard to imagine in MX) and excellent. My dad barely finished his coffee before the guy was there with more. They wiped the tables and made you hand sanitize-very clean. I had some crazy strudel thing and...it was so good. The homemade bread and jam were sooo good!More

Kaiser Maximilian quickly became our favourite restaurant in Puerto Vallarta! Our chile rellenos had the perfect blend of spices and our server, Jesús, had just the right blend of charm and professionalism. Our dinning experience was exceptional. I highly recommend Kaiser Maximilian.

October Fest menu is as authentic as it gets. Jesus is a great, attentive server. We came here as it was recommended by a friend. It was so good, we came back a second time. For late lunch both times. The German/Austrian food was excellent;...we enjoyed those each day. The alfredo and onion soup were also hits with our group. This will be a must visit very time we are in PVR.More

My wife and I are fans of unusual dishes from Mexico. When we saw that one of our favourite places was offering this wonderful traditional dish, we decided to go on the last day they were offered...and we were not disappointed. Located just a block...off the beach in from of the Los Arcos Hotel, this place is a real treat. Maximilian´s staff followed all of the COVID 19 PROTOCOLS...including wiping our table with disinfectant, providing gel...and most importantly...wearing masks. People who declined the masks were told they were mandatory. This was comforting to us as we are of the vulnerable age. We started with the Nicoise Salad...and it was wonderfully prepared and presented...all in-house prepared ingredients...totally fresh and clean. The Chiles en Nogada were the tasties we have ever had...and we hope they will bring them back. The walnut sauce was crazy delicious. We will be back to this little European oasis in the middle of Old Town again. Thank you to all the staff for great and professional service.More

We were out for a walk in Old Town just prior to a meeting and while we were strolling along a man waved us down to say hello (he owned a condo my mother-in-law had rented a few years before) and within a few minutes...had suggested that we sit down and try a coffee and one of his famous Rueben Sandwiches. The place was called Maximilian...after one of the Europeans assigned to be Emperor of Mexico...and the Sandwich turned out to be one of the most delicious I or my wife had ever tasted. The rye bread was perfect, the pastrami was succulent and the saeurkraut was exquisite. Our waiter, Alfredo, provided timely and excellent service and pleasant chatter without overdoing it. He did talk us into having a piece of the Sour Cream Cheesecake...and again our tastebuds were pleased. My wife and I shared both dishes and found it was quite the satisfying meal for two. We will definitely return for another visit soon. We highly recommend this quaint and well kept restaurant. Regarding COVID prep work, we are happy to report that the establishment is following all recommended procedures to keep the customers as safe as possible.More

Kaiser has been around forever. We sat outside under the awning and were able to experience the music and atmosphere of the street which happened to be throwing a closed off block party for anyone who walked by. There were Mexican dancers and singers down...at the other end, but we enjoyed their music. The waiter, Miguel, was terrific. He saw to our every need. He made the dinner even better. Our friends had steak and lamb chops. My husband and I sahred the spinach strudel appetizer and then shrimp with pasta. We all enjoyed our food tremendously. Of course, the Viennese desserts can't be missed. So good. The bill was very reasonable. I highly recommend that you try Kaiser Maximillian in the Centro area.More

We try to get to Maximilian's at least once a week to have their turkey pastrami sandwich. It is absolutely delicious. Our waiter, Chuy, provides fantastic service, he places our order when he sees us approach the restaurant. Treat yourself to the best Ruben ever.
