About
Archie's Wok is widely recognized as Puerto Vallarta's best Asian fusion restaurant, featuring authentic, freshly prepared cuisine that spans the Pacific Rim from Thailand to the Philippines, to China and Vietnam. The staff offers traditional and contemporary dishes from these distinctive regions. They daily prepare a palette of complex sauces and condiments. Savor the aromas of spicy chili sambals, curry pastes, their famous hoisin sauce for the ribs and chiang mai sauce, too. The menu is truly a cuisine of medleys, which combines Pacific Island foods, Asian cooking techniques, Mexico’s fresh ingredients and a host of other cultural and culinary influences. Seafood is caught daily in Banderas Bay and delivered fresh to the restaurant. Locally grown ingredients include an array of vegetables, herbs and spices, including kaffir lime, galangal, lemongrass, ginger, chilies, tamarind, and coconut milk. These are native to both Asia and the Mexican Coast.

We went here last year, and the prices this year (2020) have definitely increased. The service and ambiance is nice. The portion sizes have gotten smaller. We had the mahi mahi in banana leaf and it tasted wonderful, but for the price it was very small portion. The menu choices are very limited.
We tried Siam Cocina Thai and it was better food/service and price per portion size.
We would dine hear again, it is good, but not the best.

Archie’s Wok has been on our list of restaurants that we wanted to go to for several years. We were finally able to make it tonight. The restaurant was full when we arrived at 6:45 but we were seated right away. The service was excellent. Prices were moderate and reasonable. Dinner for 2 with an appetizer, 3 drinks and 2 entrees was about 1000 pesos which included the gratuity. Our appetizer was the Spicy Shrimp and Coconut Soup. It was a little spicy, as advertised, just right for me, a little too spicy for my wife. She had the Gingery Stir-Fried Vegetables entree. I had the Barbecue Pork Riblets Hot-Sin Style. Both were good although lacking a bit on presentation. Botton line, it was good but there are better choices in PV that offer better presentation and tastier alternatives for similarly prices. Although we enjoyed our experience tonight, we don’t plan to return. Too many other good choices.

Bustling lively atmosphere. No reservations, so people line up to get their name on the waiting list. SOOOO worth it. The hostess is AMAZING, she juggles a waiting list and any number of waiting customers, and takes drink orders while you wait. Its always an option to get a time, and take a stroll too. Lots to see in Old town, and they will keep your seat. The Calamari appetizer was light and crispy, the dips were so good we kept them to poor over our mains. Spicy noodles are always on our fave list, and we had the singapore fish. Again a very light crispy batter. The servers are "all hands on deck" They seem to work as a team to see that customer service is first and foremost. We even had the owner pop by the table when we were first seated to take our drink order. We d only been seated less than a minute, but apparently when he happended past, we must have looked thirsty. I only wish I lived closer (not Mexico City). I would eat here every week!!! Although I cant swear that they can do gluten free as well as vegan, I would say that this is a very professional restaurant, and I feel they would be able to modify recipes accordingly. They absolulely asked us about any food allergies prior to taking our food order.

The food is very good here and the service is friendly and efficient. This is a busy place after 6 or 6:30 so prepare for a bit of a wait if that is when you get hungry. Good seafood based dishes and nice curries. Not a huge fan of the noodle dish but it was a ‘one of’ thing and I generally don’t order noodles so no harm done.

I've been going to this restaurant for at least 15 years whenever in Vallarta and am never disappointed. They serve Asian fusion food, mix of spicy and savory, vegetarian, fish, meats, chicken... everything cooked to perfection. It's a great place for people with different food requirements. Deserts are delicious and light.
Go early. They don't take reservations and there's almost always a wait.
On Friday nights, we show up at Archie's after sunset, put our name on the list, then enjoy an hour of art and wine at the Southside shuffle a few blocks away. Then return for dinner. A great evening in the romantic zone.

This was not our first time at Archie's, but the last time was very dissappointng. We asked the waiter what was the best things on the menu that night and he quickly replied, the hosin ribs and a noodle dish. We ordered both. Huge mistake. Both we terrible and arrived at room temp. I think he suggested what they had too much of in the kitchen. The manager of the restaurant noticed we didn't eat the noodle dish and removed it from our bill. The ribs were about as tender as shoe leather and eating them was almost improssible.
If you go, don't ask for any recommendations or specials. Note, we arrived shortly after they opened so the food shouldn't have been sitting on a steam table very long, but tasted as if it was reheated.
The place is always busy, so give it a try just be very carefully about what you order so you don't leave hungery.

We ate at Archie's Wok twice, once with a group of 4 and once with a group of 6. Both times everyone was delighted.
I highly recommend the lightly battered calamari, the fish in banana leaf, and especially the Asian Slaw and Coco-Poblano Soup (which prompted our return). Other dishes were good too. The service is very good and the decor/atmosphere has a worn charm.
They don't take reservations but are very good at estimating when a table will open up so you can leave your name and go have a drink somewhere closeby.
Highly recommended!

We have been coming to Vallarta for years and only this year did we visit Archie's Wok. We loved it! I am not exactly sure how to describe the food but maybe to call it Asian Fusion. We went there three times over a little more than two weeks. The cucumber salad is refreshing and delicious as are the entrees that we had including the Chiang)Mai fish and the shrimp are both delicious. We also ordered the gingery stir fried vegetables that we loved. The food was flavorful, fresh and we felt great when we left. They do not take reservations but you can wait outside while having a drink. This is definitely on our go to list when we are in Vallarta.

This restaurant is amazing. The food and service was phenomanal. We had chicken satay for an appetizer then I had Singapore chicken and my friend had mahi mahi served with vegetables & teriyaki sauce. The satay was so flavorful and tender served with a coconut curry sauce and cucumbers. The Singapore chicken was battered and served in a pineapple sweet and sour sauce. The fish was delicious, tender, very flavorful & fresh. Topped with a great glass of wine and a triple chocolate Brownie.

The meal we chose was one of the best we have EVER had anywhere.
We started simple with Lumpia with pork and veggies. Nice crisp spring rolls with 2 kinds of dipping sauces and garnishes on the plate, not on the rolls, with a very hot wasabi like mustard that my husband liked.
For Main dishes we Ordered the Thai beef tongue (just try it) with coconut and peanut sauce which comes with stir fried veggies in the sauce. Flavourful and so tender.
My husband had the Thai shrimp with ginger and garlic on a bed of salad greens.
both dishes were excellent. We ordered more rice so we could clean up the last drop of the sauces. The meal size was perfect with the extra rice.
Normally in non covid times you would have to have a reservation or wait a while to get in but, because of the decrease in tourists we got in right away. That was the only reason we tried it again. It was a great decision based on a poor reason that turned out extremely well.
The Mexican COVID recommendations were being followed, The wait staff were great and the service was speedy.
What more can I say? We will be back.
Thanks Archies Wok we are now joining all the other highly rating reviewers.

Who would think to find great Chinese food in Mexico. We always visit this place when staying in PV. They have beautiful outdoor seating both in the street garden or in the courtyard in the back. The waiters are all super friendly and like many places in PV offer a cash discount. But the real start is the consistently great Chinese food. If you need a break from the fish tacos, or if you just crave really great Chinese food, this is your place.

Loved this place and setting. Service and food were good. But I will be as real as possible, if you choose to sit on the patio, you will not get a chance to remotely enjoy you meal. I didn’t know what was going on but a child was at my table every 5 minutes trying to sell an item. The killing part is that Archie’s patio is enclosed. The kids were squeezing through the bushes to get to me and then I found the parents hiding behind the bushes. Well anyway, as beautiful as Puerto Vallarta can be, I suggest eating indoors at this place. Now as a comparison to eating dinner in Tulum, you just don’t get harassed at the restaurants at all, at least not on the beach strip. Well in all fairness the strip is dangerous with cars.

The restaurant had a 20min wait and with all the great reviews, I was excited to finally taste some Asian food. The hostess was nice and my waiter, Ernesto was fantastic. I ordered the fish teriyaki, the presentation was right on but it was bland, the sauce was diluted, almost like a water base sauce... TERRIBLE taste. Ernesto noticed I pushed the plate away after tasting it and offered to take it away and bring me a different meal. 2nd plate, shrimp and vegetables stir fry with noodles and it was extremely salty too much fish sauce. He was so kind to ask if I wanted to try anything else and I politely declined. I will say the service was excellent and the wine was good. (Pinot Grigio) I will not recommend or return. Not sure how the restaurant has such great reviews but if you are use to eating tasteful food, this is not the place for you. Fortunately, they only charged me the wine.

I come to Puerto Vallarta a couple times a year for over two decades. I enjoy Chinese food and Archie’s is my place to go.
Once again I went in and was immediately seated. They have a special menu where you chose one item from three separate groups of food so you can create the type of meal that fits your needs that day. I really enjoy this featured menu.
My meal was brought out in a very reasonable amount of time and was fantastic. The overall experience was 5 star because of the professional service I experienced and the quality of the food. The cost is also very acceptable considering the quality of the food. I returned for another meal before leaving to go back to my home in the states.

We were out for a walk, & discussing various places we'd like to go for dinner. A complete stranger excused himself for interrupting us but he said he heard our conversation & pointed out Archie's Wok provided good service & delicious food. He wasn't kidding. The next night we had dinner at Archie's & we weren't disappointed at all. We are returning to PV in Dec/2020
&most definitely have plans to eat at Archie's again.
