Our favorite vacation evening and meal was spent at El Dorado. My husband and I ordered their Sea Food plater (chef’s choice) it was very enjoyable. Our servers Cookie & Elai were friendly and very good. They recommended their key lime pie martinis for desert....So good! They even called us a cab at the end of the night. Live music, ocean front property and romantic lighting added to our experience. Thank you El Dorado for a wonderful night!More
Cesar was our server two nights on our recent trip. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. One night I really wanted the lobster and they were out of it for the evening. Cesar went next door to their...sister restaurant and got me the lobster I was so craving after having had it a couple nights earlier! We ended our meal with “sexy coffee” made beautifully table side by Cesar. It’s about a 10 minute process and amazing to watch (think coffee, lots of alcohol, and lots of fire)! Next time you’re in PV, go to El Dorado and ask for Cesar!More
My husband and I visit Puerto Vallarta at least once a year and more often pre-covid. We wouldn’t think of going anywhere else. Felipe, Luis and Juan are wonderful hosts. They are so attentive and anticipate every need. We highly recommend to all travelers. We’ll...be back again next time.More
We were recommended el dorado by the concierge as an excellent restaurant with great views but overall our experience was disappointing GIVEN the prices they charge. Why ?
1) aggressive up selling of wine and liquor
Example the most reasonable bottle of red wine was...$60 which at home are able to buy for $10 to $15 . they first brought out $100 to $200 when we asked what wines they recommended . This is classic up selling.
2) I like tequila and tend to buy better brands . I asked for better tequila and they brought out 3 bottles to show me which averaged $20 to $45 per shot ( not a typo) . I found a list of liquors which was not mentioned to me in a board as you enter the restaurant with more reasonable options
3) the appetizer consisted of grilled octopus and the special sautéed calamari . Normally sautéed comes in a flat dish but this came in a broth in a pot. With few pieces of calamari. The octopus was mushy and should be firm when grilled and was not.
4) the restaurant was not crowded but main courses took way too long to arrive
5) my main course was more of an appetizer size for around $28 u.s my wife and friends had sole fish which was grilled but came out mushy and flaky and supposedly 6 oz but was again more appetizer size
6) the part I really disliked is they brought a credit card machine out and verbally asked me what tip I wanted to put on the bill. This puts pressure on the customer . The customer should enter the tip not the waiter
For the prices they charge the quality and quantity offered needs to improveMore
No better way to enjoy fine food and the sunset than at a beautiful restaurant right on the beach in PV. We had a fabulous night here enjoying the best food of our vacation. Eli made us feel at home from the start by answering...our questions about food and wine. The red snapper dinner and enchiladas were perfecto! And, the finishing touch when we happen to mention we were celebrating our anniversary, a couple of glasses to end a perfect evening. Thank you to all the staff that took such good care of us.More
This restaurant was our favorite! The food was delicious, the service was top notch & the direct view of the ocean made it so memorable. We ate here twice & will be back when we visit Puerto Vallarta. The music was very enjoyable & we...even danced as a family! Wonderful evening!More
We went to El Dorado based on trip advisor reviews. We were not disappointed! We ate the mot fabulous grilled oysters. We ordered a second dozen as the first went down fast. So good! Great drinks and right on the beach to watch the sunset....Cesar, our server, was attentive and helpful explaining specials. We had the stuffed lobster, delicious. My favorite moment was the most beautiful sunset view while we enjoyed an amazing meal.More
