Went there because of its fame. The place is big, with old and tacky decoration. Service is fast. Food was ok, definitively overpriced.

A must when in Monterrey. All of our friends told us about this place so it was our first stop. The baby goat meat was so tender and tasty. The atmosphere was very unusual with many chandeliers and neon. Many famous people eat here. You should too! Steve & Jenn

We ordered arrachera and aguja, both were really good. Very tender & tasty steaks. The price is ok for what you get, not cheap nor expensive. The place is nice and the service is excellent, they serve you all you need before you ask for it.

Go hungry!! This is a beautiful restaurant with huge windows spotlighting their meat-processing process. This is a perfect example of getting what you pay for. The price is higher here than other establishments, but the food quality is much greater. This is my go-to, first stop every time I get into town! Delicious!!

A very fashionable restaurant but definitely not worth it. The cabrito is bone dry. perhaps it should be like that for the way it is prepared , but definitely not a hit with me . The beef was also overdone. So but for the pleasure to see this place there nothing good to say.

Justo one time visit place. Prices too high for the quality of place. Funny Kirsch decorated with lots of mirrors crystal lamps neon lights an so on ... Very good attitude of waiters and staff personnel. Only if you are new to Monterey I'll worth the visit.

I'm always wary of famous places since all too many seem to survive on reputation rather than quality, however, El Rey was the exception. I'm not much of a goat eater, but the goat was the best I had ever had. Cooked to perfection and well seasoned. The service was exceptional, comparable to some of the finest restaurants I have... Cabrito (baby goat) is their specialty if you couldn't guess that by their name (king of the kid). I had the leg and really enjoyed it. We walked in at the peak of lunch hour and were able to get a table quickly. Parking is tight as it is in many areas so plan a few extra minutes for that.... More

very delicious food, their specialty is the famous baby cabrito which is THE local cuisine to eat while in the north of Mexico.

My first Mexican food restaurant while in Mexico. The food was outstanding. The wait staff was unbelievably nice and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
