A wonderful place for a long dinner. The food is fantastic, and staff are very friendly. We had mole and lots of mezcal and everything was delicious. If it was up to me, I would probably eat there every day!

Visited for lunch one afternoon, and ended up spending most of the afternoon there. Everything was delicious. The restaurant is very unassuming, but the menu was diverse and authentic. I had the benefit of visiting with a regular who wanted to share with me his favorites on the menu. They were endless! We waddled off very happy.

We were traveling through the area and had one free night in Monterrey. We were looking for a place to get "typical" Mexican food. Neither of us spoke/read any Spanish. We decided to come here. First impression: the place looked really nice - wait staff wearing ties. Nicely decorated with what I'm guessing is traditional Mexican style. The wait staff... More

The atmosphere is very cozy and welcoming with old painting on the walls and antique furniture. We were immediately greeted by a server who had exceptional english which we found rare in MTY. He explained the entire menu to use and gave great recommendations. The mole sauce is insanely delicious! Best food we had in MTY.

This charming place is in an old building and has fine old paintings on the walls. The food is traditional and the selection is good. We found it to be some of the best and tastiest food we have had in a two week visit to Mexico. The different moles are fantastic - try a different one for each person.... More

I came to this restaurant with five family members and high expectations based on prior reviews, but the restaurant was a bit of a letdown. When we first arrived at about 7pm on a Monday night, it seemed empty and no one was near the entrance to greet us as we entered. We wondered if it was open. (Finding no... More

We loved this restaurant located in the Barrio Antiguo (oldest part of the city center)! We had read good reviews and decided to give it a try. As soon as we got into the restaurant we loved its style and decoration. As appetizers we ordered the "caldo de hongos silvestres y cilantro" (wild mushroom and cilantro soup) and the "suspiro... I was surprised that Madre Oaxaca wasn't ranked higher among restaurants in Monterrey by TripAdviser...because it might be the finest restaurant in town. This ranking must be due to the few number of reviews, only three, so I'm adding one more.

Whenever my wife and I want a really special meal -- like a birthday celebration or one of our... More

This place looks nice. I took my date here. We order chapulines with avocado and 'Mole degustacion' which was good. I recommend to have spanish music here. The service was ok and the food was ok too. Although kind of small amount. It is kind of expensive.

This place was amazing. I was wandering about Barrio Antiguo one afternoon when a friend called me up and advised I try Madre Oaxaca. It ended up being a little more than I had anticipated spending for lunch, but was delicious. I ordered the Degustacion of Mole, which was a plate that had four fried corn tortilla bowls on the...
