I don't know where to begin. I moved to Ensenada a year ago and Boules has become a weekly visit. The food is mouthwatering and perfect for sharing. Make sure you try everything because everything is incredible.
This was a cute place and I was mostly looking forward to visiting this restaurant more than anything else. I was surprised by the lack of service and quality of food. Some food items were good (pulpo achiote, new york steak) but the service was...subpar. I normally enjoy when waiters don't stop by every minute checking on us but the waiters didn't stop by at all. They looked quite disorganized and it wasn't clear who our waiter was. Another note is that we asked for queso fundido (I missed eating this and was looking forward to it) and it had a gasoline taste. We didn't end up eating it and thankfully, the waiter noticed we couldn't eat it, so they didn't charge us for it (this is what saved the experience although I probably will not return).More
This weekend was our second time back to Boules and it was even better than the first time! The food and drinks are absolutely incredible, reasonably priced, and the service was phenomenal (Andres gets 5 stars for his service and food recommendations). We ordered the...Bone Marrow, Octopus (may be some of the best I've ever had), oysters, lamb shank risotto(their risottos are fire), blue fin tuna takati, and the oyster raviolis. Everything was beyond delicious and the presentation was gorgeous as well. Would highly recommend Boules! We are already going back at the end of the month for more! Oh and for the biggest plus, they are pet friendly and are very accommodating to your pups!More
The good. We had yellow fish with risotto and lamb chops with salad. Everything was delicious, my wife said that was "the best lamb" for a long time. The service was excellent and attentive as well as Javier, the owner, coming and chatting at our...table. The bad. The yellow fish had a mild fishy taste, but was perfectly cooked. The ambiance of the patio is quite interesting.More
In hustle and bustle of Ensenada is this great hole in the wall, imagine a small garden and you are in it. We went in May so a bit chilly, but they had patio heaters to warm you up. Kids played while waiting for food,...perfect for families. We tried a lot of different things and the mushroom risotto was my favorite. Loved this place and will be back to try other things on their menu.More
Beautiful restaurant tucked in behind a wine store. This restaurant got more beautiful as the night went on. Service was great and all of the food was outstanding. We shared a Brie quesadilla, yellowtail sashimi, and a mushroom risotto. Omg all dishes were outstanding!! Drinks...were good and strong too!More
We came to Ensenada via a cruise ship and made arrangements for a spa day at Ensenada Massage (we were a group of two couples). At the end, the spa owner, Jesse drove us to Boules for a late lunch. What a rare gem!
We...placed ourselves in the hands of our waiter, Andreas, (fantastic personality!) and met the owner, Javier. We tried all the the dishes they thoughtfully recommended (after asking a few questions about our flavor profile), and ALL THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC!
I know it sounds a bit egotistical (but I don't mean it in that way) to say that we travel the world (the only continent we've not been to is Africa) but I tell you that only to re-enforce my statement that the food and service at Boules is world class!
We would return for a Boules experience in a heartbeat! The folks at Boules are warm, and welcoming; the food truly delicious; and the prices very reasonable!
If you come to Ensenada and do not dine here, you are really cheating yourself!More
This is a charming place. Sort of inside and outside at the same time, you sit amongst the trees to have your meal. People are happily playing boules nearby. It’s a bit like having dinner in someone’s pretty garden. Filled with happy eaters the night...we were there. This seems to be a place where attractive young Mexicans go. Definitely not a tourist trap. A genuinely enthusiastic foodie restaurant. My seafood risotto was delicious. Everyone else liked their meals - a steak and a simple pasta. The margaritas were good and so was the house wine. Service was just right. We were allowed to have our dog with us which is a plus. Too bad we didn’t leave room for pastry and ice cream. We’re going to have to go back!More
