We had cocktails several times and dinner twice at Old Gin House - thoroughly enjoyed every experience. The atmosphere was wonderful and the service time was normal for a small caribbean island and who is in a hurry anyway?!! We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and...cocktails here and can't wait to return.More

This place sits along the water and has great views. The staff was friendly, inviting, and amazing. I had 3 dinners and they were fantastic. Desserts were so worth the splurge. Strongly recommend this restaurant. The key is definitely the amazing chef they have on...their team. Priced reasonable.More

We ate a couple of meals here. You can see the kitchen where the chef is preparing everything and it is spotless. The outdoor seating right on the water is relaxing and the view is really nice. We especially enjoyed the chicken caesar salad, red...snapper and grilled lobster. Also a nice place to grab a few drinks and watch the sunset.More

The food is excellent, the service is good but the view from the restaurant terrace is unescapable. Linger from 6pm to see the green flash, champagne (not cheap of course) then dine. Best go weekend and make contact with local bigwigs or cute young things...if they happen to be invited.More

More upscale than the other local restaurants. Great location and beautiful view. Food was very good. Ate here twice during our stay. Service was great both times.

Upscale restaurant in Statia, and that's hard to find. Excellent food and drinks and cool patio environment.

The choice of food is a bit limited and although food presentation can be better, I like the taste of red snapper creole style that I ordered. I love the location of this restaurant - right in front of the water and the view of...the sunset from here was amazing. I arrived early enough for dinner (stayed in this hotel of this restauranf) so I asked for a table and I was told to seat at the very end and back corner of the restaurant. I was going to but then I realised that there were a lot of empty tables close to the water and the restaurant was less than half full when I arrived (and also when I left), so I moved to a table with a better view instead. When the staff served my meal, I kindly asked if she can take a picture from my phone. Without a tinge of apology on the tone of her voice, she just said she's too busy. This kind of treatment I received has really put a bad taste in my mouth. I didn't bother ordering dessert. I told the nice manager about this and she said that the staff told her about it too so I think she was fully aware about what she was doing. I usually dine in nice restaurants in each country that I visit but this is the first time I received a service not on par with what's expected. I am definitely not coming back!More

Myrna thanks for your review, glad you enjoyed the food. We were very busy last night, more then full, and sometimes there is just no time for a picture as operation requires full attention. We'll leave your picture comment where it is and will focus...More

Ate here twice while in Statia. The view is incredible. Having come from Guadeloupe, the cocktails were a bit disappointing. Beer selection was decently priced standard Caribbean lagers. Wine good enough but unremarkable. The shrimp pasta and snapper creole were great. Side salads were sad...iceberg with small tomato but dressing was good. The lobster was bland with no butter or sauce. Service varied between the nights we were there - first night was very good. Second night, specials were not offered to us but we overheard them being offered to a nearby table. Server brought sparkling instead of still water. The bottle of white wine was brought warm and we had to ask to have ice bucket to chill it. OverLl, best in Statia but could improve.More

I understand this is a higher-end place, and I went here with the expectation of paying more. However, even then, I felt I overpaid for what I got. While the food was very good (lobster soup & salad) the prices were very high for what...you got. Also, the menu wasn't particularly "local" and felt a bit generic. This could have been a high-end restaurant anywhere. While it might be nice for a one-time 'nice' meal, there are other options with just as good food but a more local vibe. Also, if you come for dinner, bring mosquito repellant. Being at the base of the fort, the wind doesn't circulate well to keep the bugs at bay.More
