It is a totally unpretentious restaurant. But.... The food is very very good. The best fish restaurant in Suffolk and probably East Anglia.

Before i started writing this review, I read CBBURYs own appraisal below and felt a bit like Roger Moore in the film 'The Man Who haunted himself' because he's really said everything that I was going to: we too have been frequenting the Oysterage for a quarter of a century, I also had the skate wings with brown butter and... As a family we have been coming literally for decades and this time was a bit of a let down. The oyster soup was not quite as flavoursome as in the past, the crab in the crab salad had a strange after taste...and worst of all was that for some reason the griddled squid was cut into rings. An utter... More

We have been coming to this restaurant on an irregular basis since 1982. The food has been always great. Ultra-fresh seafood, simple but 'classic' dishes (Skate wing with black butter and capers). The service always friendly and helpful. The restaurant is basic with a 1930's cafe feel to it which adds to its 'coastal' ambiance. A great place for a... More

I had been told about this restaurant by my fellow diners before we ate there, so kind of new what to expect. The interior is almost anti hipster, which kind of makes it more cool. Think 50's caff - simple chairs and tables, plain decoration, with faded fisherman photos and fish identification posters you get in many chippys. One nice... More

Food was very good especially the rum cake and lemon cake. Rather pricey, but good quality fish. A no-nonsense eatery, and service was with a smile

This place is completely unfussy, with a cafe feel, as its all about the food here! Amazing fresh fish, cooked very simply. Uncomplicated but always charming service. We often come here for family meals, a light lunch if we've been walking or just because we feel like it!!!

Just love the food at this restaurant. The ambience is 'cafe', informal, friendly, unsophisticated. The food is fish and more fish and just delicious. These guys have access to really fresh produce and they know exactly how to cook it. Nothing fancy, but a great range of fresh local fish: a number of griddled items (squid, prawns, etc), salads (crab,... More

First time we have eaten here, and we will be returning. Excellent seafood, only wish that the fish pie had been available, will be returning to try that another time. Cafe format, functional decor, but who cares, it's the food that counts, and this counts big time. If you are in Orford, go here, in fact go to Orford to... More

The Butley Oysterage in the pretty village of Orford is worth a visit for a light meal in a rather simple setting. Fresh Crab salad excellent - as is their smoked salmon.
