We went for dinner - A nice experience. There is an open kitchen and you can see how your dinner is being prepared. No mainstream asian food but rather selected japanese style food (and a limited selection of food, which we like). It takes a while before you get served, but good things take a while. Would go there again,... More

We almost wait for an hour for our food. We ordered tempura udon, is salty and not nice. Environment is good, cleanliness is good. Just a very long wait and little children wait too long for the food.

We went here because it was recommended by the woman who runs our hostel and it still exceeded expectations. The prices are slightly higher than other restaurants in Tanah Rata but I think that they're justified. My chicken cutlet with vegetable curry (chicken katsu curry) was RM 18.90, delicious, and it came with rice, a tiny salad and pickles. Everyone... More

This restaurant is very honest, definitely not a tourist trap. There is no "shanghaing" of customers, and perhaps therefore not a lot of guests. That's a shame cause the food is really good - freshly made by the chef in the 'open kitchen' directly in the restaurant. The service there is great too - polite but casual. It's a bonus... More

The other food was good too just that this dish really make it special. One other thing to note is this is not a... More

Had the prawn tempura udon...fantastic! Great noodles, perfect tempura fry, had prawn, salmon, sweet potato, green beans, and eggplant. Great flavor, super nice staff. Left full and satisfied! Highly recommended if you're in town!

This is were we had our delicious Japanese food which is udon noodles and wagyu beef over there. We also ate some edame which tastes very unusual because it seems nicer than the edame we ate at other Japanese restaurants in our hometown,Singapore. This is the best best place I rated in my whole life.

Tanah rata is not the most exciting food destination. But kouGen provided us with a fantastic meal, best Japanese food I've had in a while. A little expensive compared to other restaurants near by but in my opinion worth it.

This is a great restaurant if you want to eat in a safe place. Everything is very clean and you can see the cook actually cooking near you. This is not a traditional restaurant, if u look for local place this not where u should go, but otherwise, for good food served in a nice place u should try this... More
