When you consider the menu options, the fantastic seafood offerings, the great service and a great atmosphere, there’s really no other choice relative to the value for the money. I’ve been here many times and they have never disappointed in any way, regardless if it’s lunch or dinner. Just have never had a bad experience. My last item was the grouper sandwich that was fantastic. Definitely keep this place in mind!!

Sunday...7pm lot of restaurants closed. Lucky Pelican is open so we head out. just off I-75 it's very easy to get there from anywhere. There is an inside dinning area (and people waiting) but they had outside, both under awning and on the parking lot. The under the cover had stools to sit on, the parking lot had metal tables and chairs. Happened that one of the parking lot tables was available, which we took. Margaret was our server; very pleasant; good menu knowledge and great suggestions. The menu is mostly sea food, but they do offer Chicken Picatta; Skirt Steak; several Salads and a Burger. Many great choices. On this our first (but won't be our last) visit we choice a Stella ($6) Roasted Cod served with Asian glaze served over shredded vegetable pancake and tempura vegetables ($19) and Fried Oyster & Shrimp Plate with fries (great) tarter sauce and coleslaw ($20). The Asian glaze was perfect not over powering, the tempura vegetables were delicious, the fries were hot and crisp. Really wanted to stay for desert, but next time - I hope!!

Just across the parking lot from our hotel and always busy, they are that good. Kind of hard to believe that there is this quality of seafood available so far from the Gulf, but they pride themselves on their offerings. Let me jump away from the food for a second. The Wait/Service staff all wear LP tee-shirts, and they all have comments on the back. The one that struck me was the statement that they offered "substantial pours" (my recollection, but you get the idea), and a healthy pour it was. I was expecting the usual tourist trap light pour and was stunned at the really nice serve I received, so much so that I complimented our server. What was also nice was that until 6:30 they were offering half price on all Well drinks. Well, that was marvelous. Now the food: half dozen raw oysters to start (we shared) followed by a seafood Puttanesca, and my Fish Tacos. Everything was exceptional. The prices were pretty nice also, as we had to check the bill twice because it seemed low. Good food, good drinks and very reasonable check, how can you go wrong. Once again, they are popular, and busy to go early or prepare to wait.

Incredible Fresh Seafood This small and intimate setting has made incredible decisions on spacing dining outside in the parking lot. The Miso Sea Bass and Snow Crab are our favorites. Wait staff is exceptional. This is a get it done type restaurant with good service. Recommend getting there early or late during their dining hours as it can be a 45 minute to one hour wait in high season.

We are winter explorers fro AMI reaching out to find better dining than the usual tired fare on AMI. The Pelican is in a strip mall type office building on an I-75 interchange with University Parkway several miles beyond the airport. Turn off the main road at a service station and it's at the quiet end of the parking lot with lots of adjacent parking. There's both outdoor tables along the facade and in the parking lot along with a smaller indoor dining room complete with full bar and active shell fish bar. Both visits found a busy early dinner hour with a mix of older and younger folks. Tables are void (as has been the practice for this very long year) and menus on the chalk board a replicated on paper... a nice touch I thought... all is on the paper menus! Everything is fish! There's one burger and one chicken dish for the deprived. Fish is provided daily by Bar Harbor Seafood in Tampa and home based up toward Orlando. You name it and they have it. We had Swordfish prepared with a Marsala sauce and served on asparagus & broccoli and small potatoes. We also had Salmon with a nice caramel and mustard sauce and rice. Excellent and enough to take home! Usual bar service, service was very good at one meal and adequate at another. Help is most friendly and staff out front eager to talk with you! What a change from our usual slam bang AMI dining stops. Prices from the teens to the 30's! Oh yea, they have fresh lobster role on the menu! Not everyplace around here! That's the Bar Harbor Distributor capability I think they said 40,000 pounds of lobster a week to south west Florida! Sure, we get fresh grouper over the bridge but all else fish is dicey on the island. I love this place! Don't tell anyone about it!

Visited The Lucky Pelican with friends During a holiday, having been recommended a visit by family members. Inevitably you feel an element of pressure when the choice is yours, and others are in tow. Needn’t have worried at all. Patrick and the staff here are genuinely first class. They quickly identified we wanted to have a fun experience with great food and responded accordingly. We ordered lots of food and it did not disappoint,- the Argentinian Prawns in particular were absolutely mouth watering. As well as bringing us the brilliant food, the servers all added to our experience , to the extent that they would have been more than welcome to pull up a chair and join us at the table. They were a massive part of our experience. When I return to the area , this restaurant will be top of my list to return to, great food and a great experience Thanks all

We’ve never been here before although we live close by, we were skeptical because of other reviews and price range. HOWEVER, those low star reviews quite obviously came from rigid upright elderly people. What is it with Florida that when you turn 65 you have to be a jerk? anyway...right off the bat when we walked in we were greeted by a smiling face called Ashleigh, she was very sweet and informative about how the wait and call head seating works. My husband, daughter and myself were waiting on 3 more. We waited patiently at a small table by the bar and front door. During the time we waited we saw so many people try to rush, be rude to and hover over Ashleighs shoulder to get to their tables quicker and each time she politely explained that there were no reservations at this restaurant it is call ahead seating. My daughter works at a restaurant and couldn’t believe the way the hostess was being treated by patrons. Finally our guests arrived and asheligj had us seated as quickly as she could. The atmosphere was perfect for our crowd and we had a blast. Todd was our server and he was wonderful and attentive. The food was excellent and the drinks were served promptly! We never saw many of the issues we read about on other low rated reviews, so please give this spot a chance if you’re being discouraged by what others have written.

Tired of being cooped up in quarantine prison? Afraid to venture out because you don't know who you can trust? Let me recommend Lucky Pelican. We have started to venture out, with caution, and have seen some restaurants that are not following the required precautions. When we went to the Lucky Pelican Tuesday evening we were so impressed with the way they were doing business. They went above and beyond the requirement in place. All employees are wearing masks and all the tables are spaced farther apart than necessary. You will feel safe if you go there. That part said, you will leave with a big smile on your face because the food and service are the best, especially if you are a seafood lover.

A+ all around! Especially considering the Corona-craziness they, and so many other of our local restaurants, are having to navigate right now. Very clean! In fact you can smell the cleanliness, a huge plus factor in my book honestly. We ordered their Scallop "Poppers" which were INCREDIBLE. Our son ordered their chicken tenders. Husband ordered the Dixie's "Ocean Burrito" which honestly I wound up eating more of than he did LOL And I ordered the Grilled Grouper Poblano - DELICIOUS! All of it! We will definitely be ordering from them again very soon. Keep it up Lucky Pelican, and thank you!

Tried this place based on a recommendation for the first time. They seabass was a special and it literally melted in my mouth. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I will definitely be back. Reocommend getting there early (i.e., before 6P) during in-season as it gets crowded quick.

Sat outside, ordered Ribeye Steak. It was served BLACK! - Charred, so overdone it was shaped like a boat with pool of butter in the center. Potatoes were cold, green beans weren't cooked. Even the server knew it wasn't worthy, she never returned to check on our table. Finally when she brought the check, she apologized & said she would take it off the check. Instead, the General Manager returned, didn't offer even a discount off the meal. He said "Come back, and I'll personally cook the steak for you, I'm much better than the chef!" I told him that I was never going to return, and he offered me a free beer ?!?!?!

The service was friendly and prompt. The fish was excellent. The load of bread with butter was great, especially for my young son to get something in his tummy right away. Being in a strip mall leaves the ambiance somewhat lacking, but everything else was superb.

We stopped by on a busy Sunday after seeing the great reviews, and we were sadly disappointed. I had the fish tacos and my husband had the fish and chips. The fish tacos were tasteless and odd (pumpkin seeds?) and the fish and chips were the same. The coleslaw and tartar sauce were very strange too. The only thing we enjoyed was the bread and butter and the fries. Definitely not returning. Too many other great restaurants nearby!

Four of us had dinner at Lucky Pelican last night. We arrived about 6 on Sunday evening and had our choice of indoor or outdoor seating immediately. Normally there is a wait for tables any time. The server was immediately at the table and we soon had a nice tray of their delicious bread. Drinks were generously poured. Seafood based meals were served quickly and were delicious with generous portions. We were seated outdoors and as dark set in, so did the mosquitos. Prices were reasonable but were reflective of a popular seafood restaurant in a high rent neighborhood. Plenty of parking near the doors.

Thank you for your Review. Unfortunately, we are powerless against the Mosquitos even with our torches. We look forward seeing you again and are very pleased you enjoyed your dinner and drinks.

I was staying within walking distance of the lucky pelican and decided to give it a try. Sitting alone at the corner of the bar watching the guy crack open the oysters I was amazed at the dinners being served on a Tuesday evening. I ordered a spinach and scallop salad. Very tasty . Great place to people watch
