Visited The Boat for supper on a very busy Friday evening. The bar staff were excellent but short-staffed. (The boss was on holiday. In August!!!) Whilst the kitchen was clearly under pressure the food was poor. The menu is vast, offering a range of curries, pies, some Italian and ordinary pub grub. Far better a small menu of freshly cooked good... More

Quaint little pub down by the canal. The choice of menu and food were excellent, the staff were friendly. Lovely relaxed setting, shame it had gone dark by the time we'd finished eating as the beer garden looked a good place to sit.

With all the TV hype about Inspector Morse I thought this place was going to be a tad expensive. Again how wrong could I be, the drinks were reasonable as was the food. The garden was a great place to eat and the service second to none. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Have lunched here on Many Many occasions as local to work. If it's sunny sit out by the canal or in the beer garden although sitting outside means you have to order your food and pay for it NO TABS OUTSIDE... still understandable I guess. Go early as it gets busy after around 1PM not that the service is ever... More

This place is lovely, the staff, food, beer and atmosphere could not be faulted. The place is actually in Thrupp and not Kidlington, well worth diverting off your route for a visit.

We were advised in advance that our reservation would be put back 30 minutes to allow for a large party to finish. That was fine. However, we got there early to find a large coach occupying the car park. The large party had obviously arrived. Just after 2 we were shown to our table by a delightful girl. We ordered... More

Fantastic traditional English pub food. The best steak and kidney pie with shortcrust pastry available in the region and exceptional sticky toffee pudding with lashings of custard. A beautiful spot and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
