This one shocked me….WOW! I cannot give it a 5-BUT it is a 4.9+. I had the Oxtail….absolute best I have had anywhere. The ‘gravy’ that the Oxtail was served in was something special…almost sweet. Portions were big…and like most in Barbados…it is sky high (they have to import almost everything so this causes the higher prices). If you are near this place…just go.

We had the grilled / blackened fish with a garlic mash and roasted vegetables all cooked superbly. We booked and I would recommend doing that because you can ask about having a prime table
Location and if you get there around 12.30 the service was friendly and timely. When we left we did notice a lot of people waiting and I would imagine if you haven’t booked the experience could be less joyful. We have been several times and hope to be back.

We called in for a drink when visiting the area for the day and fell in loved with chilled out vibe, so much that we found accommodation nearby and stayed for the rest of our stay in Barbados. We then visited the Round House several times on each occasion were treated to beautiful local food served by friendly staff all with smiles on their faces. We San highly recommend this place with stunning views over Bathsheba Beach. Thanks Colin and Monica

We've been to the Round House during every visit to Barbados over 15 years. Sadly after today's experience, we won't be coming again. The Caesar salad bore no resemblance to any we've ever ordered before anywhere - the cos lettuce leaves were left whole unchopped on the plate, the chicken skin was left on, there were no croutons just a few torn bits of bread. I took the photos below. We'd waited over an hour for our food to be served, we were hungry by this time though unhappy at the way the food was presented. After we'd eaten the waitress asked us how our meals were. We said we weren't happy with the way the Caesar salad was served. She said the chef was being creative and trying a new way of presenting the salad. As we weren't happy we asked if she'd remove the 12.5% service charge but she flatly refused so we'll be voting with our feet.

Absolutely Terrible!!! This used to be a Go To when in Barbados. The decline is so noticeable.
Firstly Food was Abysmal... Couldn't taste anything, soggy mush.
Furnishings need updating.
The staff were very unfriendly, often Rude and quiet simply uninviting for such a Famous place.
The way we were Treated was disappointing and we wouldn't recommend this to Any Visitor.
Once a place becomes too big for itself, it loses something of its uniqueness and attraction. This is certainly the case with the Roundhouse.
Worst place in Barbados 🇧🇧!!!!

Pretty decent food but poor and very slow service for the money you pay. Arrived and staff asked if we had a reservation, we said no, and the girl disappeared for a few minutes, then told us to go indoors. As we walked indoors, another member of staff rudely told us to go back outside. Sat decided what we wanted, eventually the waitress came to take order, we asked for chicken and were told there wasn't any and she would give us a minute chose something else. 15 minutes later, she finally reappears to take order. Drinks never arrived, so we had to ask someone else for them. Waited and waited, and eventually, the food came. Burger, pork, and fishcakes were nice, the fish goujons were nothing more than a slither of nondescript fish covered in more battery than fish. Over $200 for the pleasure, won't be returning!

We ordered 4 burger meals & were told after 1 1/2 hours that they had dropped them on the floor & were no longer available & would have to have a chicken sandwich instead!
This was served after another 1/2 hour wait complete with skin still on (it was like rubber).
We had to ask 3 times for drinks & the whole service can only be described as woeful.
We found the manager was trying to argue with us & justifying bad service.
We had heard good reports about this place & can only hope ours was a one off.
WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING

Mediocre is the best I can say.
Service is very very very slow in this restaurant
We were there for lunch and it took over 2 hours.....almost all of the time waiting for the waiting staff.
The waiting staff are pleasant just far too slow.
The food.....
Pumpkin soup......
was OK.
Bajan fishcakes.....
were just tasteless lumps of dough that didn't taste of fish, and only tasted when covered in the spicy sauce that accompanied them.
Mahi tacos
Were bland tasteless fish finger sandwiches and the oily greasy French fries that accompanied them were horrid.
Curry shrimp
Was not home made but was obviously a powder added to make a sauce as the curry was gritty and bland.
I am not a chef but I am a good home cook, and every dish today I could make better at home.
The food was poor, expensive and very slow.
I drove 45 minutes to get there as the reputation was good.....I really wish I hadn't bothered as there was much better food served quicker and for less money in the location I was staying.
The only thing good about the place was the view.

You would give it 5* for the location, but the poor price-performance ratio makes you think of a tourist rip-off. Three dishes ordered as main courses were no more than appetizer size, which is unacceptable given the steep prices. Of course you pay for the scenery everywhere, but you should be full.

Been wanting to go here for the last 2 years and never managed to fit it in, we finally made it for breakfast and wished we hadn't bothered. It was the slowest service I've ever experienced, and not the friendliest. The food was barely average and not worth the wait. We waited almost an hour wait for French toast, 2 bowls of yogurt and granola and then and hour and 10mins for our 2 omelettes -the food came out at different times between 50 mins and 1.10
the omelettes were really weird, almost like eating powdered eggs, the granola was ok. Not once did anyone approach us and say sorry for the long wait ... there was literally one other table eating at the time so it wasn't busy.
What this place promotes and what you actually get are very different, I would say definitely don't do the trip if you are on the west coast. Its just not good enough, try the Eco lodge instead.

It is a beautiful and laid back location. The restaurant manager and her staff are very friendly and welcoming and we loved coming back here and ate here five times. We really recommend the blackened catch of the day (we had mahi mahi, pictured), the coconut shrimps were very good, fresh tamarind juice, Bajan lemonade and also the French fries with the hot sauce (if you dare!).
There is ample parking around the place. We preferred the seating inside (table 9) was our favourite. Great view and shelter from the midday sun. The staff make it a very friendly place. I recommend it. We ate around the island and found the blackened fish here to be the best. We will be back!

We had a booking for lunch at the Round House at 2:00 on Tuesday - we had to wait 20 to be sat down, another 30 for someone to take our order and didn’t get our food until 3:30. When it came it was very average especially for the price. The views from the restaurant are beautiful especially if you get a table outside on the front deck. But if you are exploring the East, I would give it a miss!

It’s hard to believe the bad couple of reviews on here because that certainly was not our experience of this wondrous place. We visited twice during our recent stay on the island and both times we had a fantastic experience. The staff were friendly, welcoming and polite and the food outstanding.
Perhaps those expecting ‘better or faster service’ aren’t used to the laid back Bajan culture and are too used to the fast pace restaurants in the UK, US or elsewhere.
You have to work with the locals, be patient and it always comes good in the end but if you’re expecting to be seated promptly at your booked time and served within 5 minutes then maybe Barbados isn’t for you.
And whoever thought 30BBD for two alcoholic drinks is too pricey at a great restaurant like this obviously doesn’t get out much.
Anyway, for us, the food (and slower service) was amazing. Pumpkin fritters, tempura okra, mahi fishcakes, shrimp coconut curry all magnificent. The cocktails were first class too. Wish I could eat here every day.

Great spot overlooking Bathsheba Bay. Food is delicious if a little pricey considering the location is not in one of the “prime spots” on the island. Nonetheless the food is seriously good - you have to try the blackened mahi-mahi fish tacos. Also the hot pepper sauce is dynamite 🧨. Would go again , but as I said I was somewhat surprised at the bill when it arrived.

Very disappointing. Had a good experience a few years ago but this time had a different vibe. Food was ok but the head waitress was brusque and surly. Service was generally slow and we received our meal an hour after we’d been seated.
