We went for lunch on a Sunday with our two kids. We were not given a menu or any indication of what there was to eat apart from a board showing sandwiches and soup on the wall. The Sunday Lunch menu was empty. When the waitress came over she was very unfriendly, we appeared to be an inconvenience to them.... More

We finished our walk and popped in for coffee and cake. Whilst the actual food and drink was good the service was appalling. We got no welcome from the man and woman serving, they were positively rude, not helpful or accommodating, never smiled once throughout the stay.

I stayed in Dirleton from Thu-Sat and wandered along to the gallery at least once each day. Despite white boards, and a sign at the actually door, saying 'open', it wasn't. If you're not staying in the village, phone first to check ...

This is a family run eating place. They do a very nice sunday lunch, where you can bring along your own wine. The lunch menu is good with home cooked food and delicious soups. There is a small terrace area at the back where you can take your dog whilst having lunch or coffee. We have our Local art club... More

After visiting the castle, we decided to have a late lunch. We were told that the cafe within the Dirleton Gallery was very good We were not disappointed. Pretty busy for a Sunday afternoon. I had a tomato soup with a panini and wife just had a panini. Didn't have to wait long. My soup was piping hot and very... More

We were visiting the castle and needed refuelled. Found this great café/gallery. I had the spicy lentil and vegetable soup -thick tasty and lovely. Hubby had the pork and apple sandwich which came with a salad and looked thick and filling. He was quiet for sometime and gave it the thumbs up. Pop in if you are in the area... More

Sweet little cafe with gallery upstairs. Nice arty feel. Good coffee. Exceptionally good home-made food which is a cut above average cafe fare. The menu isn't extensive but what they offer is all done very well - great chef. Excellent home-made, imaginative cakes every day. On Sundays they do a 2 course lunch for £10 (BYOB, no corkage) which makes... More

Lovely two course Sunday lunch. Generous portion of beef with two lovely Yorkshire puddings. Not a massive portion of veg but cooked perfectly. Dessert of apple and apricot crumble was lovely with a hint of cinnamon, and the chocolate chip brioche bread and butter pudding was lovely. Both very generous portions with custard. And all for £10 each - excellent... More

Popped in here today after a full day of domestic tourism in East Lothian. Great cup of tea and treacle scone. Nice, warm, relaxing atmosphere and the artwork on the walls is fantastic too. Wish I'd had the money to buy some.

Super little friendly cafe which provides real home cooking of a very high standard. Nothing posh..just exactly what you need after a beach walk with soups and home made bread, superb cakes and they are able to cater for gluten free. Accessible...if only it were dog friendly....

Thank Bradley I
