We visited three times while staying at a nearby caravan site. Very welcoming and dog friendly in the bar. Good menu with different choices for example marinated crab tian and blue cheese brûlée were delicious. The fish mains were lovely and well cooked.

Popped into the Dog and Boot bar for a quick lunch. Ended up mixing and matching the nibbles as we weren't very hungry. Very generous portion of whitebait which was well cooked with lovely dips. The scotch egg was homemade and delicious.

My wife, parents and I booked 2 nights at The Bell for a weekend to meet up. It is in a lovely valley in a quiet village about 10 miles from Ross on Wye. We stayed in the Barrets Bane attic suite which is lovely and spacious, just watch your head! The hotel has a gorgeous garden which is a... More

We have eaten here twice in the last month, once for an evening meal and once for Sunday lunch. Both meals were excellent. Fresh, local ingredients used and the food is served nice and hot. Comfortable restaurant inside and the service was good, however, Sunday lunch service seemed more attentive (hot bread served and drinks filled up more quickly.) Only... More

Many thanks for your kind comments. The vegetarian option does change regularly so you were slightly unlucky to have it twice running. Sunday lunch is getting very popular with thanks to our excellent local suppliers and the efforts our friendly staff. Hope to see you again soon. More

Apologies as I reviewed this under the hotel's review, not as a restaurant. Anyway, this was a lovely looking spot when we first passed it, and was well worth the effort to stop at on the way home. We only had the scotch egg with sweetcorn relish and a bowl of chips, served after the 2:30 midweek lunchtime had ended,... More

Called in for a drink not having booked for lunch. The staff were more than accommodating and managed to find s table for lunch in the lovely garden. Food was excellent will definitely return.

Lunchtime meal for three on a hot August day. The service was a bit slow and we had to wait a while for the dessert but I can't fault the food in any way. The burger, sea bass and pork belly were all excellent and the pork belly and mash was possibly the largest portion I've ever seen in a... More

Has done really well to link a lot of walks to this pub which are on its website and they have leaflets with maps. Really good idea and surprised more country pubs don't do the same. The staff were polite without being particularly friendly but nothing to complain about. On the menu it says everything prepared fresh so you may... More

Dear Threemileisland, I am very sorry to hear that you were refused a half fish sharing platter which you rightly say should not have been a problem and it certainly should not have been! Please accept my apologies for this, a junior member of the kitchen staff obviously didn't think it through. Our menu at lunchtime has five vegetarian choices... More

My young family were turned away for lunch here for no reason other than it seemed they did not like the look of us (they admitted others for lunch at the same time). shame as the isolated area meant that we had to travel a way for another meal, but we happily found a cheaper and more obliging place

As we are in the business of providing food and refreshment we don't turn people away for no reason, and certainly not the reasons you have speculated upon. The other people who were served had reservations and it was explained to you that we were full. It is as simple as that. More

We stayed one night at The Bell at Skenfrith. Check in was very straightforward and we were shown to our room by a lovely receptionist. As we had to leave earlier than planned, she organised a continental breakfast for us in our room. We had booked dinner, bed and breakfast which also included a packed lunch for the following day....
