Is the public beach still open? At one time, before the hurricane, you could walk beside the police station and have access to this beach. Is this still possible? Thank you. planning trip in April just wanted to make sure you could still get there.

Billy Joe's blew away in Hurricane Matthew, 2016. It was a great place, but probably gone forever since he died a couple of year's ago.

Trying to get back up and running after the Hurricane. The other place was destroyed. They have a small hut back up and trying to get started again. Not sure how long?

The food were greasy because the food was cooked with over used oil. The shrimp, lobster, and conch were over cooked and rubbery except for the fish. The French fries were under cooked. You do not get much for your money so make sure you don't go hungry or ordered extra. Also make sure when you order confirmed that they... More

You enjoy fresh fish and island sides. Which turns into a big party the food is great the music... More

Ambiance - this place has it. On one of the most accessible free (non-resort) beaches, across from Port Lucaya Marketplace, along a path next to the police station. The beach is small and crowded with people renting/selling motorized water rides (jet skis, banana boats), braiding hair. If crowded beaches and loud music are your style, visit the beach and make... I headed to Billy every day after diving for a cold beer and a fresh conch salad prepared right in front of my eyes. The best place to be over the water. ;)
