Located near the ferry docks, in the heart of Cruz Bay, this is the quintessential beach bar! The bars, stools and tables, all open air, face the water. The food is freshly prepared, the drinks are well mixed, and the bartenders make the environment welcoming and fun. They’re known for their Painkillers and Bushwhackers, but the beer selection is good too. Try their spin on a classic Cubano, enjoy the Painkiller with a floater, or a St. John’s Tropical Mango Pale Ale. Mingle with the locals during happy hour, 3-7 pm, or order a cocktail at the bar for take away, sit in one of the beach chairs in the sand, and settle in for the sunset. We couldn’t ask for anything more.

The Beach Bar is a must stop when in St. John in our opinion. We stayed right up the street from there and it was so convenient to walk down there in the evenings for a drink and we also had dinner there twice during our stay in St. John. Everything we got was so good! We did shrimp tacos with the chips and salsa our first night and both loved them. The next time we had chicken and fried and I had the tuna bites which were perfectly seasoned nice size pieces of tuna. Aside from the food the waitress.waiters bartenders were all extremely friendly and welcoming to us each time! Beach Bar was probably our favorite spot since we are more casual people.

We took a boat from Saint Thomas to walk around Saint Johns. Unfortunately it was a rainy day but we were still able to make it to the Beach bar. The staff was very helpful, attentive, and service was very good and quick. We ordered the blackened shrimp tacos as well as the mahi tacos and both of them were good, prices are reasonable and overall a good experience while sitting in front of the beach enjoying the view.

This place was located a few minutes walking distance from where we were staying at Gallows Point and we ended up here a couple nights for drinks and appetizers. Painkillers and the deconstructed nachos were delicious. Staff was very friendly and the place had a great atmosphere. They were only at 50% capacity due to COVID but we had no issues getting in both nights.

We ate at The Beach Bar during a bachelor & bachelorette get-together our first night on STJ. Then our group of 6 stopped in on a Friday night when we had no dinner reservations & were seated at the bar immediately & enjoyed drinks & delicious food. Our last day on the island, we found ourselves eating the fried shrimp here yet again. Highly recommended for quality& quantity, the freshest shrimp we had on St. John!

Went here for lunch after diving and despite the new regulations regarding Covid, was able to have an enjoyable lunch and talk to staff. Cheeseburger was cooked perfectly, just need to add a more flavorful cheese - stronger cheddar, etc... St. john rootbeer and other cold drinks were spot on.

Drinks (BCBBCB) and food and surf and sun all come together here in just the right way. Bartenders and other staff are friendly and efficient. We chose to sit beachside and enjoy a leisurely lunch made up of things we might not eat at home (chicken tenders, cheese balls and zucchini sticks). While the food might not be gourmet, it was very well done and a great value.

Had lunch here a few times on our most recent trip to the island. The food is good, and the service was attentive. Our son has a number of food allergies and they were very good in dealing with our needs. Great place to sit and watch the world go by, or catch a happy-hour sunset as well!

We have been going to St John for years and have always looked forward to having a bushwhacker at the Beach Bar. This year I took my whole family including our grandchildren for lunch. The food and service were a disappointment this year. I would honestly say the food was well below average. When we arrived the waitress said she would bring us waters which was fine, but since we did not ask for water I did not expect to be charged $36 for waters! One order was missed and food came out for different people in our party at different times over the course of 20 minutes. Most insulting was an automatic 20% gratuity which is what I have always tipped, but on this occasion it was not deserved.

Sorry to hear about your experience. We want to make sure everyone enjoys their visits to BB. What day and time were you in, where did you sit, how many win your party, and can you describe your server, please? Did you tell them about the issues while you were there? If so, what was their response and resolution?

I read the reviews and I was optomistic. My wife and I arrived and the location is great. We were seated to a group of locals (fellow servers drinking it up on their day off) a bit loud and annoying, but it is more a bar than a nice place to eat so take it for what it was worth. Food was subpar, do not get he blackened ahi tuna appetizer, it appeared and tasted like it just came from the microwave. Server forgot an entire entree and a beer when it was finally served. She ended up not charging for the beer. If you want to have some drinks this place will do, if you want to eat good food, you have so many other options right around the corner.

This is the ideal spot for dinner on St John. The bartenders are amazing. There were about 3 of them and they covered 20+ tables without missing anything. You’d think with that kind of load they would be pissy, but they were all incredibly nice and accommodating. We asked to move tables when a beach view table opened up. Our guy was like, “Hell, yeah! Good call!” And didn’t miss a beat. Eating dinner in this spot is unbelievable on its own, but an awesome staff and top notch food make it a “don’t miss” if you’re ever on this island.

You just can’t get much closer to the water and sand than you can at Beach Bar while on St. John. We love how casual it is and how you can grab a drink and sit at a picnic table on the beach to watch the sun set. We were able to find parking just behind the Beach Bar on our first pass, letting us know it was going to be a good night. :-). I had the beef tacos, and they were a little too salty for my taste. But, another in our group had the mahi mahi tacos and they LOVED them. Another in the group had a burger and he said it was very good too. As you can tell by now, we are not elaborate foodies. We also had the Cheese Balls. Honestly, we love everything thing cheese. These Cheese Balls were bigger than a golf ball, almost the size of a tennis ball, and they were REALLY good. Just as fyi, Their facebook presence is a great way to see their daily specials.

Make The Beach Bar your first stop on St John! Our service was friendly and prompt. We arrived between breakfast and lunch so half of us ordered breakfast and others waited a few minutes for lunch. Tuna bites were amazing! We also enjoyed the Johnny cakes and crab wantons. The drinks were amazing! Coconut Mojito was perfection. Bloody Mary and key lime drinks were enjoyed by all.

We avoided this place for several years thinking it would be low quality bar food. We were pleasantly surprised when we gave it a try to find out we were totally wrong. My entire family had really great meals and we enjoyed our ocean front view. I had the tuna bites, my daughter had the grilled mahi and my son and husband had the burger. All of it was well prepared and tasty. Will be coming back here for sure! Thanks Beach Bar

My wife and I each got a to-go Tandori Chicken Sandwich. It took about 15-20m to prepare, which is fine as it was quite busy that day. Unfortunately I wasn't impressed by the sandwich - the chicken was rather dry, very dry, and only remotely tasted of what I consider to be Tandori. It wasn't bad and was certainly edible, but it was nothing beyond average. The location is nice, right on the beach in Cruz Bay, with plenty of tables on the beach and inside.
