Vie's appears to be permanently closed. We were there today, but were forbidden to park in Vie's lot. A sign said that after 36 years in business (or something like that), they were closing.

Vie's is near the end of the road (Rte. 10) and takes a bit of effort to get there. It is a standard stop for us that has a sentimental connection; we first visited Vie's in 1984 as close as I can remember. It is a little family owned and operated road-side stop with a limited menu; basically what they... More

This vary small roadside snack shack is fantastic. We took a car ride out to the East End near Hansen Bay not knowing about Vie's. We were lucky to find the best beans & rice in the USVI. Fantastic and well worth the drive.

St. John is an island in transition as the economy becomes more focused on tourism and as younger generations take on leadership positions in businesses. Vie's is well documented here as an island institution, but; (i) there has been a well documented change in menu, and (ii) it is not clear if they want to continue running a business. We... More

Extra fantastic conch fritters on the side of the road in St. John. A little out of the way, but worth the jaunt. Excellent snack after snorkeling the nearby bay.

This was our fourth trip to Vie's and although we do miss the fried chicken and conch fritters (Vie doesn't do fried food anymore), the beans and rice with her wonderful meat sauce on top was well worth the trip! And try the small coconut pies that her friend (wish I knew her name!) makes for her. It melts in... More

We happened upon Vie's by accident and we will definitely be going back to visit. Right across from the beach, it's a perfect place to grab something to eat and a drink and then go to the beach. Vie is so nice to talk to is very good at keeping the chickens happy!

Drove out because of the reviews. Unfortunately it was closed. Sign says closed Sunday and Monday Even though we did not eat here, the drive was well worth it. The steps hills and sharp drop offs are not for the faint of heart.

We'd read several reviews of people who said this was a "must eat." The staff was so friendly, and the food was great. Even my young daughters loved it. Plus, we got to see the wild island donkeys up close and personal. Doesn't get much better than that!

Lovely Vie operates her own beach, picnic ground, and snack shack on Hansen Bay. For just $2.50, you can park your car, use her beach, lounge in her chairs, and rinse off with her hose. The snorkeling here is incredibly good! There's a shallow reef with a surprising variety of corals and fish. After snorkeling, we enjoyed Vie's flavorful Beans... More
