Used to come here once every year or so with my family & I used to hugely enjoy our time here. In a wonderful setting. I enjoyed the chicken with wild mushrooms & vegetables. However one of my family members had the sirloin steak & wasn't hugely enamoured. Overall average- I enjoyed my food but staff weren't hugely friendly &... More

My second visit and felt I had to commend the chef on the excellent standard of food here. I will be back for the restaurant alone! First time I stayed, second time had lunch on a spa day.... All the food has been of a high standard. No wonder the restaurant gets busy!

Called in late evening for some food and sat in the bar. The venue was very busy and had a wonderful atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was lovely, the only criticism was that some of the deserts had too much alcohol which overpowered some of the tastes. A lovely evening had and will definitely go back to... More

Stopped here for Sunday Lunch, totally underwhelmed. Quite a nice looking pub/hotel, food was adequate, edible but totally tasteless. Won't go out of my way to eat here again and if driving past, I will keep driving!

The food was lovely - well cooked and seasoned. Good portions and helpful attentive staff. I had carrot and coriander soup for starters, very tasty and plenty of bread - it was piping hot too. For mains I enjoyed a dish from the Specials. A ham leek and chicken pie with puff pastry, it was very tasty with lots of... More

The Bistro was full (you need to book in advance) so we had to eat in the bar. Here the atmosphere is warm and cosy, the menu identical to the Bistro and the staff helpful and friendly. All food was home made with generous portions and was not only good value for money, but of excellent quality. We can highly... More

We came to the lodge after a long day and ordered the supreme of chicken with tagliatelle. When the food arrived we got a big pice of chicken but only two spoons full of noodles- the quality and taste were excellent but I was still hungry after finishing the plate. I would recommend the lodge but don't come starving.

Just had coffee in the bar with friends. Coffee ok. The bar area is looking jaded and grubby. Our saucers stuck to the tables although other tables were being cleaned after use. The rungs on the chairs were dusty and the seat cushions were marked and unpleasant. The entrance into the toilet area was also grubby and marked.
