We were travelling and stopped at Merthyr for a walk. We called in for a cake and hot drink My wife and I loved it! Great cake, lovely drinks, and we were made to feel very welcome. Worth going a few miles out of the way for!

Dined here Friday, the food is freshly cooked, good portions and nicely presented. The service was excellent and the staff very welcoming and friendly. It's not a fancy restaurant but the food is good.

Called in for a weekday sausage & mash lunch & couldn't resist Mokta's famous onion gravy , followed by a choice of home baked desserts to die for. This little side street cafe is a must for those who want food other than just burgers & pizzas... & if you want a Sunday lunch to make even Deliah or Jamie... More

Mooktars is a small café / bistro that pride's itself on honest, tasty, fresh food and this it delivers. Staff always friendly. The menu is diverse from panninis to breakfasts to roasts and quite a lot in between. If you're looking for a pretentious expensive eatery then, sadly, you will be disappointed. If you're looking for a well prepared, tasty... More

Visiting Merthyr with my sister, needed lunch & saw this cafe down a side lane. I felt confident although my sister had reservations! Anyway, walked in to peruse the menu as no menu visible & checked out the 'specials' board. The proprietor welcomed us & informed us there was a more extensive menu on the tables. We found a nice... Went with family for a Sunday lunch. Nice food, lovely staff - waitress was lovely when dealing with my daughters awkward requests! Good price. It was very busy. We are from out of town but it is clearly a local favourite.

Moktar's kitchen can be found in a small side street off a largely pedestrianised area on the edge of the town centre. There's limited parking (a problem in Merthyr Tydfil) nearby or a supermarket car park just beyond that. The cafe offers a very good breakfast although it took a short while to turn up as it was freshly cooked.... More
