Love this deli. Sandwiches are large with good, fresh toppings. Recent merge with Smoke restaurant adds nice bbq options. Great location looking out over the water. This is a must visit if you are in Frederiksted.
Great new partnership between Turtles and the smoked bbq place, hit the spot after snorkeling the pier. I'm a mostly veggie person, and enjoyed their veggie sandwich that included tasty portobellos and pesto, something I never would have thought to combine myself but now will!...My husband enjoyed the beef brisket sandwich, and we both got sides of smokin mac which was amazing (probably has meat in it so may not be for pure vegetarians). Had a great selection, can't wait to try some other items next visit!More
This review is a bit of a comparison from what
It was to what it is.
The actual space is now more arranged and organized so good job here.
That doesn’t mean it is now more organized and service is better. I ordered my food...ahead of time and was told it would be ready in 20 -25 minutes, and I believe it was. The problem was that it took me 20-25 minutes after arriving just to pay for my order. The cashier seem to have multiple duties or maybe there was a communication problem but she kept running out with a receipt and coming back and saying sorry. There were only 3 people ahead of me so that shouldn’t have been an issue. Staffing may be an issue here.
Then as far as the food, so far it’s not as good.
This is just the first item in comparison but the portion was smaller it was nothing special compared to the previous owner.
I will be back because one visit doesn’t tell it all so, to be continued....More
New ownership. Cons: Loss of original stores lending library which gave a homey feel and missing the friendly cat.
Pro's: Everything else. Still amazing food and oversized portions with a great view of Turtle Beach. Now you order in a well-lit and very clean room...and pick up your food from the grill in the courtyard. I am going to have to come for some of the BBQ on my next trip. Good job.More
HUGE sandwiches. Two medium eaters could split one. I had the Reuben, which was awesome and made on fresh marbled rye. Plenty of meat, kraut, cheese and Russian dressing. Hubby had the Cajun Jack roast beef sandwich which had peppadew and pepper Jack cheese. He...loved it and how spicy it was. Only drawback for me was the coleslaw. It is not a creamy slaw and had too much celery seed for my taste. Certainly not a dealbreaker though! Still highly recommend the sandwiches!More
My husband and I had lunch here after diving. You order at the same spot for both restaurants so we got a sample of things. We each got sammies from Toast that were really good. The curry chicken salad was really good, like my chicken...more shredded than in huge hunks, but still tasted good. Portion is huge. It said it was on marbled wheat bread, but it was rye, which I hate, but it was still good. We had cornbread and smoked mac and cheese from Smoke. Both really good. One pop. $38 tab, very reasonable.More
We searched for the Turtle’s Deli and found a new owner and it’s now called Smoke n Turtles. It opened four days ago. Menu is the same but the ordering place is in one building and you pick up sandwiches from another building. We ordered...a salad and three sandwiches. Everything was wonderful! Breads are homemade and the sandwiches are very creative, though you can have whatever you want. Prices are reasonable and you sit on nice picnic tables overlooking the water. It’s a beautiful spot. The new owner will happily tell you about the history of the place and his ideas. He was super friendly and we wish him luck. So try this great lunch spot when in the area!More
We wanted to just grab some sandwiches and this spot did not disappoint. There were many options and you could also create your own. I had honey turkey on the marbled rye. The sandwiches are huge and come with a small bag of chips. You...could also purchase bottles of beer, wine, water, soda and juices. Listen out for when they call your name. We didn’t hear them and waited longer than we should have. Also, they only take cash!More
Recently moved to the West end of the island and finally got to try this place out. A little bit of heaven between two slices of bread. Have now tried most of the sandwiches on the menu now and have yet to be disappointed. Always...our go to place when we're not in the mood to cook.More

With chips and a drink expect to pay 8-15 bucks depending on your choice. The sandwiches are huge and we usually share one. Rermember a terrible lunch at McDonalds filled with poison is at least 8 bucks. Fresh baked breads and premium ingredients, sandwiches made to order (with love) in a stunning beach venue.
