Visited Duggans based on all the rave reviews on TripAdvisor and have to say that it didn't live up to expectations. The waterfront location is superb - usually. The amount of Sargassum that was all over the beach and had not been cleared made for...a quite unpleasant smell. Probably not something that the restaurant can do much about, though. Aside from the location, this is a fairly standard American Steak and Seafood place. Décor is very American - college sports pennants all over the woodwork, very casual, laid-back atmosphere. My companion and I said that we could have been in just about any city in the USA and had a similar dining experience. It was well-prepared, just not very imaginative, considering we were on a Caribbean island. If you want good quality steak and seafood then definitely go here. If you are looking for a taste of the Caribbean I would recommend going elsewhere.More

This place is a must when you are in St. Croix! Every salad, appetizer, and entree was amazing. We were a group of four and everyone agreed it was one of the best meals we have ever had on vacation. Service was great too.

The food was good but the cats roaming around and being feed by our table at a feeding station was a complete turn off. I know it’s the islands but you don’t have to promote the cats roaming everywhere. It was gross.

Nice restaurant on the water. Unfortunately hit by sargassum that had a foul smell when we were there. Service was good and we received our food quickly. I had the Irish whiskey lobster and it was divine! Unfortunately my wife’s steak was very over cooked...and burnt and the risotto was undercooked and crunchy (mine was too). She’s not one to complain so we let it go and just chose to enjoy our evening out. I’d go back again, especially for lobster.More

We have found it difficult to find a nice sit down restaurant on St. Croix. Duggan’s is exactly what we were looking for. Not only do the owners have ties to where we are from but they operate a top notch place! We enjoyed calamari,...a steak dinner and finished with a flourless torte. Amazing!!More

Staff was rude! Made sure to embarrass me when I did not have a visa or MasterCard. Said I should have done my research. Come to find out, that information is NOT on their website! Stay away

Our family of four liked Duggan's Reef so much, we came back a second time for dinner during our vacation. This is something we usually don't do. My two kids really wanted lobster in St. Croix, so we made a reservation at Duggan's one night...early in our vacation. The restaurant was at the far end of the island, but we enjoyed visiting an area we had been to yet. It's also in a great location, right on a beach (Teague Bay). Unfortunately, the first night we went, it was raining, so we didn't get a sunset. Also, the sargassum was pretty thick on the beach, so it was a little stinky depending on the wind direction. Regardless, our overall experience was great. Our waiter was friendly, and we started off with dirty martinis and the lobster spring rolls. The martinis were good, but we didn't care for the spring rolls. We felt the shitake mushroom slaw completely overpowered the lobster. For dinner, both our kids ordered the lobster, I had the surf and turf and DH had the lobster gratin. The kids devoured their lobsters, which is not something they usually do, and I very much enjoyed my surf and turf. The steak was cooked perfectly. DH loved his lobster gratin, but said he wished he ordered the lobster. I don't care for pasta, but I couldn't help myself from stealing bites of his meal because it was so creamy and garlicky. Our desserts, a peanut butter pie and a key lime pie, were both also great. Later in our trip, the kids were still talking about their Duggan's lobster dinners, so we made another reservation for our last night in STX. This time, my son, DH and I each ordered the lobster and my daughter got the lobster gratin. We were all very happy. For dessert we got the chocolate peanut butter pie, again, and the carrot cake. Everything was delicious. Plus, it was a beautiful night, so we got to watch the sun set behind the mountain. Like I said, we don't usually book the same restaurant for dinner during a trip, but we enjoyed Duggan's so much, we had to go back. If you like lobster, I think it's a must-do!More

Duggan's is one of our favorite restaurants on the island because it offers a nice, quiet atmosphere alongside good service and great food. It did not disappoint on this trip. My husband finally got to try the whiskey lobster and loved it. I had the...fish special which is always inspired. Definitely make a reservation, because the restaurant is always busy.More

No long pants are ever required on St. Croix! You will be ok in shorts or pants I love the island.
