Five of us enjoyed a delicious lunch at the historic Golden Rock Inn on the beautiful island of Nevis yesterday. Golden Rock's location is truly spectacular with its stately, towering trees, gorgeous views of both the mountain and the sea, colourful, blooming gardens and pretty...fish ponds. Parking was not a problem and there were courteous staff members waiting for us when we arrived to help us both coming in and when we departed. We sat at a comfortable, peaceful, spacious table in a quiet, shaded, covered area. The service was fast and friendly and the food was delicious. Our order included large bowls of conch chowder plus amazing lobster sandwiches, burgers, fries, salads and delightful rum punch. If you haven't experienced Golden Rock in Nevis then be sure to do so soon!More

My husband and I (in our early 70’s) have just returned from a 10-day stay at Golden Rock, our 4th consecutive visit. We continue to love our time there, but have concerns about returning next year as there have been changes that don’t sit well....These changes centre around the restaurant, considered by us, and many others to be the best on Nevis. The open-air, canopied, terraced dining room is the perfect place to have one’s breakfast, lunch and dinner. (There are a couple of tables in the lower garden, a few on the pathway between road and hotel, but, although maybe fine for lunch, they are truly inferior for an evening meal.) As of last year, the new managers seem to be relying more and more on restaurant buyouts for dinner, that is, some group takes over the restaurant for the evening. Hotel gusts are encouraged to dine elsewhere, or take a small table in the garden/pathway. They are told either late morning, late afternoon, and even that very same evening that the terrace is unavailable. Last year my husband and I were advised at 5:00 PM that we would not be able to eat in the restaurant, were unable to make any alternate arrangements (including even hiring a taxi), and had to eat our evening meal in the pathway while being subjected to speeches and loud music of a corporate event of 80 people - this is not what I want on holiday! If the hotel has to rely on restaurant buyouts to survive, then change is inevitable, and we all must adapt, but I find it very difficult to witness corporate creep into this paradise that Helen and Brice Marden have created. At the very least, the managers ought to inform hotel guests when they check in of all restaurant buyouts that will occur during their stay so guests can make alternate dinner plans. It’s a matter of common courtesy, not to mention common sense.More

The grounds are beautiful. We enjoyed walking all over and the history is also interesting. Our first day we stopped for lunch and had the conk chowder. It was delicious. Later in the week we returned for breakfast and enjoyed that as well. This place...is a must when on the island. PS: we didn't room there, but we were close by.More

My group enjoyed a delightful afternoon at The Rocks. The setting and grounds are truly paradise. The menu has something for everyone, including my gluten free friend. I enjoyed the delicious lobster salad, and coming from Maine the salad didn't disappoint. We ended lunch for...a tasty popsicle. The service was excellent, both friendly and speedy. The Rocks was definitely a highlight of our visit to Nevis.More

Hopped on a water taxi from St Kitts for dinner at the Rocks. Nice venue in a very green area. The bartender delivered the best Pina Colada of the holiday and the building and decor make for a different evening. The food was very nice...too, recommended!More

Some called this place the Golden Rock??? Anyhoo... it's an old sugar plantation. Seating for your meal is scattered around the grounds. See if you can get by the little pavillion or 'under the tree' (that's where we were). You would think you are in...another world when you walk into this setting. Love, love, love!!!!! Speaking of love?!!!... you MUST get the lobster sandwich AND the conch chowder. That's a lot for one person, so share! You can't pass either one of them up, though. Just sayin'More

I recommend arriving before sunset so you can soak in the best of both worlds - view the incredible gardens and then eat in a romantic candle lit venue. My husband and I were blown away by the beautiful well maintained landscaping. So many exotic...plants throughout the old plantation remains. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable about the estate . The food was delicious. I was able to put in a special request because I am a vegetarian. I will definitely go back next time I am in nevis !More
