This was the first restaurant that I went to when we arrived on island. I had the fish tacos, lovely, Fresh salad etc. We were squeezed in on a very busy evening, so kind, we’d just got off a 14 hour flight so we were weary and not wanting to go elsewhere and hubster had been here before so recommended it. Our meal was a sensible size, we saw others that were mahoosive! Sunshine Grill serves simple but GOOD food, not gourmet and the prices are the most reasonable I’ve seen before and since on island. We will be back, thank you.

This is a unique restaurant by a resort pool just two blocks away from the Westin. We highly recommend the wahoo and shrimp tacos as well as the margaritas that have fresh juice. A nice touch with the tiny complementary ice cream portion given out at the end of the meal. It’s popular restaurant so you may have to wait for side for 20 to 30 minutes before getting a table but it’s definitely worth it!

Super laid back, great salads, good tacos. Nice kids menu. Very easy dinner with great service! One of kids has a peanut allergy and they were understanding and accommodating. Cute little complementary two-nite soft-serve ice cream cones for dessert!

No one at reception area to greet our party of 4. Went inside to try and find staff but no one around. A waitress was clearing a table outside so we asked if we could sit there. She confirmed we could. As she continued to clear the table we sat at the chairs round it. Suddenly a large woman with blonde hair came marching over to us asking sternly if she could help. I think she was the manager. We were all shocked and asked if we could order drinks and have menus. This woman snapped back that there was a ‘wait queue’ and we should vacate the table at once. We were puzzled and began explaining the waitress had told us we could sit there. Instead of any kind of apology or empathy this woman simply talked over us in a ridiculous singy voice reiterating that we had to vacate and join the wait queue. We were so shocked and appalled we simply left the premises. It’s a shame as we had visited the restaurant a few days earlier and had great food but this particular day this manager was completely rude and unprofessional. I would definitely not return as a result of this woman not fit to manage anywhere with this frosty and cold attitude to customers.

What a great surprise, we went on a recommendation from a friend and were very happy we did. The location is inside a small family resort, but they delivered great fish tacos. Additionally the drinks were fun and festive, the blue cheese balls app was wonderful and then the check is delivered with tiny ice cream cones, what a great surprise. What a great restaurant, we were very happy were wne for lunch.

What a great discovery this restaurant was!! Our local friend suggested we go and have the fish tacos because "they are the best on the island" and he was right!! So fresh and delicious, we ended up coming back three more times during the week just for the fish tacos!! The calamari & shrimp appetizer was fantastic as well, not overcooked as you find in other places. Drink specials everyday and good for families as well. You can sit inside or outside by the pool. And did I mention the free soft serve ice cream at the end of the meal; it was awesome!!
The value of the meals & drinks we had are super compared to the price. Considering that everything on the island is more expensive, Sunshine Grill is an oasis; your money goes a long way!!!

We've had reason to visit Grand Cayman quite a few times over the past 4 years. One of our favortie meals is fish tacos and Danny at The Sunshine Grill makes our favorite fish tacos on the island. The grilled mahi-mahi with the mango sauce and accompanying pepper sauce is fantastic! In addition, the staff is always very friendly and accomodating. We especially appreciate the cheerful and warm manner of Andrea. She always greets you with a smile and a kind word. The ice cream topper at the end of the meal is a nice touch, too. We've also enjoyed many other items on the menu and find the food and location (poolside and under canopies and palm trees) very idyllic. We'll eat here time and again if we are fortunate to return to Grand Cayman.
Also, let me add that Miss Evelyn lays out a nice complimentary breakfast for Sunshine Suites guests. She is very attentive and sweet and makes the morning meal all the better!

Having lunch at the Sunshine Grill was one of my favorite experiences during a visit to Grand Cayman. The servers are quick and friendly and the atmosphere is really nice because you get to be poolside under shaded umbrellas. The food is excellent (we had almost every kind of taco and I can personally vouch for the shrimp being some of the best I've had). The tropical cocktails are on point, with plenty of creative options for beer, wine and cocktails going beyond the usual daquiries and rum punch. They also give you a little sweet treat at the end which was super cute! Perfect place to grab a delicious and casual lunch in the middle of a beach day.

The restaurant is world famous for its breakfast and with good reason. We stopped in for a wonderful meal of french toast (with a great banana topping) and pancakes and eggs (the pancakes are huge). Everything was as advertised. It should definitely be on your “to do” list when on the island.

The day we reached Grand Cayman the first restaurant we visited was Sunshine Grill.
We ordered fish tacos, wahoo salad and a grilled chicken burger all three were great. The server was friendly. They finish up the meal with a free ice cream cone ,which was a pleasant surprise.
The only reason why I am giving 4 star is that with chicken burger came fries and onion rings , they were cold . They should have been nice and crispy hot.
Overall a good experience.
Must go

I just read the review about the fish tacos and it was not positive however my post is. My husband had the fish tacos and they were delicious.....he is very picky too, I had the Asian chicken salad and it was terrific as well. I would rate the Cosmopolitan cocktail, the best on the Island, period and I have been to some very nice Restaurants who have made this drink for me, Sunshine Grill has this!
We walked down from the Ritz....

Wow an amazing find! Without a doubt this is a top place to eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner or all of the above when you visit Grand Cayman Islands (across from Westin Hotel behind the small plaza). Even better when you stay at their hotel Sunshine Suites you get 10% discount on your meals. Breakfast is amazingly delicious especially their freshly squeezed orange juice. Unfortunately, coffee isn't the greatest whether you go here or anywhere else they're not known for the rich tasting brew.
Lunch were even better than breakfast. Known for their fresh fish, their fish tacos is a MUST TRY. Waitstaffs are all wonderful and pleasant and attentive. Outdoor sittings, even under the umbrellas and no matter where you sit, you'll still have the sun heating your body quick. Better to eat indoor or maybe they should move all their dining seatings on the opposite side of the pool. Their calamari lightly battered and very yummy. The restaurant itself is cute and acquaint. These pictures are our breakfast we had. Calamari apps as part of lunch along with our fish tacos. Geez I thought I had a picture of their fish tacos. Sorry about that. I did not try their mix drinks since I'm not into cocktails. However, they look very refreshing. Don't let the atmosphere fool you. You will not be disappointed with their food. High end hotels rarely have the best food. Places like these do. Don't be a snub and try this restaurant.

We stayed here and found that the restaurant was both convenient and delicious. From tacos to BBQ night to breakfast, they have huge portions and fair pricing comparative to other options around. The servers were friendly and mostly prompt. On Fridays they have live music which was a nice touch. Overall, this is a good budget friendly option and hidden gem. Happy hour is 4-7pm and I believe cocktail are $8 and $5 beers.

Had dinner here. Small restaurant on the site of sunshine Suites. This place is very family friendly with outdoor seating as well. My husband had fish tacos with Cuban beans and rice. Cole slaw was delishous with raisins and some sunflower seeds. I had one fish taco and a slider. Cane with very good French fries, regular and sweet potato. They dont serve desert but give a complimentary mini frozen yogurt cone. All the food is homemade and the prices are reasonable.

This was our first visit since the island was basically closed for 2 1/2 years to due covid. We have dined here at least 15 times since 2010 and this visit was somewhat disappointing. We dined early on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was not crowded. My wife had the Sunshine Fish Sandwich which was very good. I had the Havana Chicken Sandwich which was disappointing compared to past visits. In years past, the sandwich was soaked in a citrus marinade along with marinade on the side for dipping. This trip the marinade was barely noticeable on the sandwich and there was no marinade for dipping. At the end of the meal, out waitress said they would have provided marinade if I had requested it. When my meal was presented, I requested a tray of various hot sauces that were available on other tables and our waitress, who we recognized from previous visits, basically disappeared and no hot sauce provided. We received our check from a different waitress, and we were never checked on by management who walked past our table numerous times.
I'm sure we will dine at Sunshine Grill on our next trip in several months. I hope our experience is not the new post-covid standard. I hope management reads this review and Sunshine Grill gets back in the game.
