We had a good down home Caribbean fish dinner, while experiencing a golden sunset. Memorable experience.

VG is sort of a different place, and the Mine Shaft reflects that. We were there in mid June and like others have said, we were the only diners there that evening. That is not so unusual in the off season in Virgin Gorda. Actually we were one of only a couple of tables at Rock Cafe, Hog Heaven, and... More

We had read about the lovely views from here but there is now many houses blocking the views. Maybe they should not brag about the views any more. We were a large group with reservations. Then when we start ordering, we discover they really opened back up for us to dine. Sort of help clean out the refrigerator ! So... More

My wife had read some nice reviews so we stopped off here to check out the food and putt putt course. The mini golf course was absolute trash so that was a no go. We were the only ones there and service was extremely slow. We split an order of potato skins and honey dipped chicken since...paid for it all... More

Stopped in on a late Sunday afternoon for sunset drinks. Flyer in town advertised music. No music. Bunch of taxi drivers sitting at the bar ogling our wives and making obnoxious comments. Asked the bartender about the music. She had no clue and spoke very little English. Spoke to the owner. She said the band may or may not play... More

I am a sunset fan and have to go to the Mine Shaft for sunset when I visit VG. Sitting high on a hill, you have an unobstructed view. As the sun is setting, the local chickens fly into the tree next to the deck to roost for the night, so I get a bonus of having chickens in my... More

There was a time when The Mine Shaft was the "in place". Crowded every night. A lively fun spot with good food and service. Plus a spectacular view. The only thing remains is the view. This is a place that seats at least a hundred people. The evening of our visit, one other table of two was occupied for the... More

Although there were only five other guests in the restaurant for dinner on a Thursday evening, our food was excellent. Our group had the caesar salad, pasta and shrimp, chicken sandwich and grouper. The Caesar salads, pasta and shrimp and grouper were outstanding. Service was okay. Definitely worth a trip to this restaurant for dinner. Hope they stay in business.

just stopped in for a drink, and had a blast. Bartender set up his play list for us to sing. The mine shaft cave in and safety vest was very entertaining. When the staff picked up their instruments and sang, it was very nice.

Decent food. Second visit on this trip, but we had been there before. Two couples for the "all you can eat rib night". Good ribs and fine sides. At sunset, chickens climb up to roost on the branches for the night. A sight to see!
