We had not returned to Ocean 82 since it reopened after rebuilding, and we went to celebrate birthdays. The restaurant is better than before in terms of ambiance and comfort. Service is as impeccable as always, these professionals do know their ‘metier’, and the food is also as memorable as ever. We ordered two of their signature dishes, the sesame-crusted tuna and the fish pot, both up to par and beyond, the third person ordered a special, the lamb shank, falling of the bone and with an incredible sauce. Finally for dessert, another special, profiteroles with cream and chocolate. You won’t be disappointed.

newly reopened with new decor. Right on the beach with a balcony view of the ocean. The food is definitely French cuisine. Portions reflect the French and are appropriate and very tasty. We have food allergies and they easily accommodated, especially the gluten-free. Service was typical of a french restaurant--they don't hover over your table and let you have peace, no hurrying you through dinner. Scallops were wonderful and entree of duck breast was superb. Foie Gras also excellent. We couldn't get regular pastry desserts because of gluter but sorbet was homemade and excellent.

We had a wonderful experience three times during our visit to Saint Martin. Two dinners and a lunch. The Mahi mahi with chutney was delicious as was the gazpacho and lobster bisque. Eric was a wonderful host; the entire staff was knowledgeable and terrific. Great wine list. A 6:30pm reservation allows you to see the sunset, which is spectacular, and can get you a table right on the water.

Called by on a Monday night. Not busy and no reservation. Was seated on the outside terrace, very nice spot. Food was really good and so was the service right up to them clearing our plate away from the main. Then we appeared to be invisible! Waited 30 mins (more or less) for anyone to notice us again. No drinks or mention of desserts. A party of about 8 came in and all the staff seemed to flock around them. The restaurant wasn’t busy so who knows what happens when they are ! Being British I don’t like fuss ( and now fed up of waiting for a drink and dessert) so flagged a waiter down for the bill. When the waiter came for payment he asked was everything ok. I thought, tell them what happened so they can learn. I said food was good but your service was poor. The reply was a classic. “ you have your rum and bill, everything is good” and walked off for the card machine. Not much I can say to that I guess. BUT, then when taking payment on the card casually says “ 20% service on that sir”. I don’t bloody think so, try finishing the job ie. drinks and dessert ! Looks nice on the outside, food is good if you can stand possible poor service.

We were concerned about getting a place for dinner on a Monday evening. As we well enjoyed L'Auberge Gourmande and trusted Pascal, we took his recommendation. We had not had a great experience when it was the Fish Pot but it looked fabulous from the exterior. We had booked a table for 6:00 pm and had the booking app inform them that we were running late (we needed to get something at a pharmacy) and the app let us know that 6:30 pm was available. When we arrived, we were informed that we were late (before 6:30) and a staff member seated us with only a plastic face guard (not a full mask). We were seated by the water but people were quite squished overlooking the water. Then, we saw two tables being seated after us - they had their orders taken, bread delivered to the table, cocktails provided and appetizers presented before we even got our order. When we finally were able to order our drinks and get clarity of what accommodations could be provided due to dietary requirements, we started to have second thoughts about the choice. After a quick discussion with the most quiet person in our party who felt particularly insulted, we decided to pay for our drinks and leave. Management was not particularly happy with our decision and wanted a second chance. With the dynamics of our party, we were not going to have a good meal there on that evening. Several of us were particularly disappointed that we could not try the Grand Marnier soufflé. However, it was not to occur on this visit. Perhaps next time. I just hope that management gets the staff to be more welcoming - there seemed to be some superiority there that exudes when observing them from a distance. As an aside, the menu is packed - probably with too many items to get them all done well.

We ate at Ocean 82 as it was reviewed as one of the top 50 Restaurants in the Caribbean. Definitely not and should be removed from the list. The ambience is very nice but the food was not good. I ordered a beef filet for the main course medium rare and brought well done. The meat was tough and of poor quality. Almost impossible to cut with a knife. The waiter was advised but made no effort to change the filet. We paid the price of 260 euro in 4 people with a bottle of Rose’, and over priced compared to other restaurants in Grand Case. I suggest going elsewhere and avoid Ocean 82.

Sxm has great restaurants so it is a tough market. Besides the overcooked Foie Gra special the rest of the food was good. The biggest issue was the service. We ordered champagne for my wife’s BD and it was never served. I ordered a sauterne also never arrived. The food did arrived quickly. The waiters were always rushing and overwhelmed. No concern from the manager for the over cooked items. They have potential but not there yet for the price point.

It use to be our favorite restaurant on the island ! Any time we would have guests visiting us, we would always take or recommend this place. We were very excited about it reopening after the hurricane, alas very disappointed. The lemon butter sauce was a mere clarified butter, the duck ordered “medium” was rare. All 4 of us were disappointed, definitely not going back. Probably the change in chef, but it needs a lot of attention!

We went for early reservations and the restaurant was half empty even by the time we left. For starters we got the escargot in the traditional way and it was not very flavorful. Neither were the frog legs. Bread was cold and bland as well. Duck entree and mahi entrees were just okay. Potato gratin, which the waiter raved about, was just okay too. The only thing that stood out was the creme brulee which was very good albeit tiny. Service was really lacking. The bus boy was great but our waiter did not even look at our table once. Still left a large tip because the bus boy basically doubled as our waiter and he was great. Food was so overpriced - it was our most expensive and most disappointing meal on the island. Really kicking myself for picking this one out of all the others in Grand Case.

Amazing restaurant with excellent food setting and service. We picked our own monster lobster and asked them to split it into different ways of cooking it. The food here is delicious, must try in SMX.

Gorgeous seaside view and very good cuisine. Spiny lobster was a not inexpensive treat, but worth the experience for our lobster lover. The lobster risotto was a hit too. Small hiccup when we tried to pay as their credit card processing machine went down. Fortunately, they realized it was their machine, after trying several of our cards. All was well in the end.

This place used to be very nice before Irma hurricane. Chef Frank still professional like he was for many year starting at Coco Beach. But his stuff are absolutely useless. The host, tall girl, is absolutely rude and no wonder that she was fired from many places before. 30 seconds talk and I was about to leave but decided to stay just because of Frank experience. Waiter that was fixing my fish left so many bones that I almost choked. The bottom line is that as long as Frank has such employees like that host and that waiter this place would stay as a tourist trap for a newly come tourists. And I am saying it based on my 15 years St. Martin experience

I wish that we had not chosen to dine at Ocean 82 on Valentine's Day. It was our first time at this restaurant and well the experience was not stellar. First, we arrived a few minutes before our reservation time and were informed that our table was still occupied. Okay, but after 15 minutes we had to inquire as to the status of our table and were told the couple were still lingering and had not paid their bill. We were offered a glass of champagne while we waited. Long story short, 35 minutes later we were seated at a different table that was crammed between 2 large groups and told we could move when the couple finally left. This did not go over well with me. So, we just ordered wine and waited to order any food until we were at a comfortable table. The table was so tight with no room around it that my wrap and purse were knocked off my chair twice by diners or employees trying to get by. A different couple left and we asked to be moved to the table they had exited and were begrudgingly moved. It is okay to let people know that their time is up. Two hours for a party of 2 is plenty of time to enjoy a meal. Now most restaurants limit you to 90 minutes. The place was extremely busy, the staff was running around like chickens without heads, and the noise level made conversation difficult. I ordered a Caesar salad as an appetizer and Dover Sole Meuniere for my entree. This entree is one of my all time favorites and was hoping it would erase the memory of the long wait for a table. It was average. The waiter who deboned and plated it did not have the proper expertise. And the portion was rather small and super expensive. The special dessert (apple with mousse inside) was superb and my cappuccino was good, but not hot enough by the time it reached the table. We got our check very fast....Hmm....as there were still plenty of patrons waiting to dine. Grand Case has several of the best restaurants on St. Martin that we return to over and over again. Especially French restaurants! We will pass on dining here on our next trip to SXM and instead go back to our favorites: Le Auberge Gourmande, Bistrot Caraibes, and Le Cottage.

Our favorite restaurant, Le Cottage was closed for vacation so we chose Ocean 82 for our last night dinner. The restaurant was full which was a promising sign. Mahi-mahi tartar trilogy was ground up mounds of mahi and served with no toast or anything of texture. One of the prepared ways was so uncomfortably tart that the roof of my mouth became numb. The lobster & mushroom ravioli was incredibly salty. Foie gras was great. We opted to go for the Turbot for 2 which was an incredibly expensive fish from France. The fish had absolutely no flavor and the accompanying sauce was not seasoned enough. Adding salt should not be necessary at a restaurant of this caliber and at these prices. Waiter was pretentious, but the runner was very sociable and the best part of the experience. We know how amazing food can be on St. Martin and this was not up to the standards of fine French cuisine. Would not return.

Came for my wife and I’s wedding anniversary. Servers were rude and very pushy. No mention of our anniversary at all. Paid over $300 for two appetizers and the lobster extremely expensive for the service and quality we received. Disappointed
