Well this was one where food, service and ambiance all came out at 5/5! You are at the beach watching the sailing boats pass by, enjoy the sounds of waves and the gentle breath of air. We started of in the lounge at the beach and were served a great Margarita by Torrey (fresh Squeezed limes - ask for that as all places here use so something else). Then into the restaurant with same great views. We had Chef’s Salad and Calamari to start - very fresh tasting crunchy salad and a great tasting fresh calamari with a spicy sauce that went great with the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. We moved on to enjoy the Duck Confit and the tagliatelle Alfredo - loved it!
I would like to highlight the great service we received from our server/manager Anthony. He got the seats we wanted, got us the food we wanted (which was not exactly as stated on the menu) at the time we wanted it! He is one that will make happen whatever you want, don’t be scared to ask what you want to Anthony!

After shopping, we wanted to have a little lunch-which turned into a wonderful feast! Holland House is a hotel located in the central portion of Front Street. The lounge and reception are modern and inviting and lead you straight through to the restaurant that makes you feel that you are on the beach. Comfortable seating in a unhurried oasis with cooling breezes and views of all of Great Bay. The gorgeous turquoise waters and the bright blue skies will make you feel like you are in Paradise. They have a menu of signature cocktails-we had a peach daiquiri and a frozen strawberry daiquiri that were flavorful and ample. We started with the fried wontons filled with Stone Crab and guacamole that were out of this world, and the tuna carpaccio with some of the freshest fish! They offer a salad bowl that easily served three containing crisp romaine lettuce, tomato, corn, shredded carrot, avocado, and dressing of choice. For entrees we ordered the satay chicken which was moist and flavorful, a burger cooked perfectly and well dressed, and their version of a tuna sandwich containing more of the carpaccio on a toasted bun with mayo and a teriyaki sauce. All three entrees were large and sumptuous. Everyone shared bites and we all enjoyed. Being pretty well sated, I was surprised when my son ordered their Sundae! Just delicious.

We had lunch at Holland House’s Ocean Lounge when visiting Philipsburg’s iconic Boardwalk. All I can say is that everything was amazing. You get to enjoy the beautiful view of the Boardwalk itself, while eating the restaurant’s delicious dishes, which are complemented by the fantastic service from the restaurant staff. Whether you are staying at Holland House or simply visiting Philippsburg, you must eat at the Ocean Lounge.

This restaurant was our worst dining experience in St. Maarten. Our salads were just fair, and we each ordered an entree. My mushroom risotto was so salty that I had to stop eating after two bites. My adult son ordered the hamburger medium and it arrived “mooing.” So raw that it was inedible. My husband ordered a seafood medley that while the best meal was only fair. When we sent back the inedible dishes the waiter informed us (at 9pm) that they were out of burgers. The second risotto was equally bad. While he did not charge us for the two entrees, the entire meal should have been comped. Oh, and a waiter dropped an entire tray of empty (or mostly empty) glasses directly behind my husband. They shattered and splattered. No one arrived to check on my husband, and it took about 15 minutes for anyone to arrive with a broom/mop.

The service is excellent, the view is incredible, but the food was horrible. I ordered the burrata as an appetizer and it came out on a plate frozen solid. I then had the lobster pasta, but the lobster was as chewy as a gummy candy. One can safely assume that their food is frozen and reheated, or just served frozen on the plate. Please, do not eat here. Cocktails only!

In our first visit in 11 years it is saddening to see the boardwalk in Philipsburg actually abandoned at 7:30 on a Saturday night. Almost everything shuts tight once the cruise ships crowds split at 5 for their onboard chow down. Almost all restaurants are closed as a result. This hotel has a dining room, however, and it is a fine one, though pricey. We started with the crispy calamari, and were delighted. Served promptly and hot, the light breading was tasty in itself, and was enhanced by the tangy sauce side. The missus ordered the meal-sized green salad and was impressed. Quite large, chock full of cold fresh veggies and accompanied by an orange vinaigrette. The warm buns and herbed butter were a perfect complement. I chose the cheese/burger, cooked medium rare, and it was made to perfection. Large, nicely dressed in lettuce, tomato, pickled beets and dill pickle on a large bun, it hit the spot. The fries here are really good, too, fresh and hot. With 3 draft Heinies, one bottle of sparkling water, $94USD before tip (the 15% service charge doesn’t go to the server).

We used to love coming here for lunch. One of our favorite lunch entrees, the sushi grade tuna poke bowl always used to have a plentiful amount of 10-12 excellent large bite sized chunks of good quality tuna, with veggies over a small amount of rice in the bowl. Now...it's 3-4 lesser grade small pieces of tuna with some veggies over a huge amount of plain white rice...at the same high price. Not worth it. Also, much of the wine selection is out of stock. Sadly won't be back.

Although we aren’t staying at Holland House, we ate breakfast (since they had room) at the Ocean Lounge. Wait staff was wonderful and food was good. Between the two of us, we sampled scrambled eggs, an omelet, bacon, yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, and a croissant. No complaints.

We were looking for a lunch stop on beach front of Philipsburg. We did not want your typical touristy experience. The restaurant had a more casual upscale look than the others. We were seated promptly on one three outdoor dining levels by John. The menu looked very intriguing and every plate that was walked by beautifully presented and looked so inviting. We did not know what to order for it all looked so good. John informed us that there was a lunch special of spiny lobster today. They were large lobsters, so we decided to share one. It was a 4 lbs lobster split and grilled with butter. We ordered an accompaniment of salad, fried rice and mashed sweet potatoes. When it arrived, the presentation covered the table. It was delectable! John was a fantastic server and Keisha would also check up on us during our dining experience. John made sure everything was running smoothly. The staff made us very welcome in the dining experience. Again the lobster was great and I much give the fried rice a notable mention. Lunch items on the menu run $20 to $28. Even though we did not have it the smoked salmon on toast looked extremely delicious. As did everything else. The lobster was sold by the pound and was not on the menu. This restaurant was a great find and was truly enjoyable.

This restaurant is not only the prettiest on the boardwalk, but it is also delicious!! Our waiter John was courteous, friendly, attentive and made some nice suggestions. We had the fried calamari which were delicious and the grilled salmon and grilled seafood dishes, both very tasty, well presented, generous portions… just perfect.
The vodka martini was perfect and so was the lava cake with vanilla ice cream to finish our delicious dinner.
The restaurant is facing the ocean with beautiful decor and lighting.
My husband and I had a very nice evening and would recommend it to our friends ❤️

We came for a week long stay on Sint Maarten's with our hotel over in the Simpson Bay area for a week in mid-June. Rented a car for the week to get around the island and see the different towns. Phillipsburg is quiet once the cruise ships leave after 4 or 5 in the evening and especially quiet during the low season. Many of the restaurants were only open for the afternoon but we saw that the Holland House was still op;en in the evening so we went to give it a try. The atmosphere is lovely - open air dining on a very upscale deck area. Food was delicious at reasonable prices. Great wine and cocktail menu as well. If you are looking for a great spot for an evening dinner near the beach, elevated atmosphere, delicious food, reasonable prices - stop here.

This is one of the most expensive restaurants along the beach strip, but I decided to give it a try based on the reviews.
$26 for a poke bowl: pretty good although the amount of protein given was on the light side. $30 for the lobster ravioli: decent flavor but on the smaller side and the sauce was more like a brothy soup.
The service was really lacking. The waitress was indifferent and rarely came by. We had to get water ourselves at one point.
What really gets me is the menu clearly states "10% Service Charge is added." That's fine for St Maarten. But when the bill came, the waitress made a point of saying they don't get any of that and she doesn't know why it's worded that way. The 10% just pads the hotel's bottom line and the tip is extra.
That expensive $26 poke? $29.60 in reality with the hidden charge.
That overpriced $30 ravioli that wasn't big enough for lunch? Actually $33.
Skip this place. Plenty of better and cheaper options along the beach that don't try and rip you off. Or even better, just walk a couple streets away from the beach and eat where the locals eat.

We went here for dinner and the server was rude, the food was not worth the money and the topper they added a 10% service fee with out it being clearly advertised. Was completely surprised when I got the bill. With so many options I would definitely skip this place.

Dear Nancy, we are very sorry to read that you have had a bad experience dining with us, we take all reviews very seriously. Currently the service charge is stated on all of our menus as well as the receipt, however we will look into this to make it even clearer. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate by sending us an email. With kind regards, the Ocean Lounge team.

I recently took a couple special people out for a special meal and was not impressed. The location and ambiance was great and it stops there. Overall service was slow. We arrived right at 6PM opening for dinner and were one of the first tables in the door. 90 minutes later and we still did not have our food. Apps and drinks were delicious and portion size was good. The main course was undersized for the price. 35 USD for my meal which was grilled seafood and I received ONE scallop, THREE shrimp and a 2-3 ounce size piece of Salmon. Flat Bottled water was $7 / 750ml and we ended up drinking 2 while we waited for our mains and 2nd drinks. Taste 5/5, service 2/5, value 2/5. $250 USD for 2+ hours of our night. I would not go back.

Just finished lunch here and I have to say I couldn't believe how poor the service was. All three of our steaks came out ice cold and then the salmon the other person ordered came out ten minutes later. Great view, ok food, awful service. Do not recommend, there is much better places to eat.
