Big Yard is definitely a local place. We were the only tourists there, but the staff was super-nice and explained everything to us. They serve big plates of food to take away or eat one of their picnic tables. We went for lunch, after learning...that they're so popular that they often run out of food before dinnertime. You get a meat and your choice of sides from a long list. One of us had barbecued pork with salad, potato salad and provisions and peas (aka root veggies and lentils), while the other had stewed pork with salad, potato salad and mac and cheese. Everything was very tasty and filling - definitely one of our favorite meals of the trip!More
This place was one of our favorite stops for food!! For me and my husband $20 for lunch ....the portions are so big that we had left overs for dinner .... there is nothing fancy about this place but so worth it!!! Can’t wait to...come back and have dinner or lunch hereMore
If you like eating tourist food, definitely stay away from here!
If you like eating what the local people eat, and getting stuffed on really good food that's reasonably priced, then do come... Everything on the menu is delicious, and will fill you up. Seating...is, well... in a big yard! Grab a bench and chow down!
If you need to be served amongst fancy surroundings, are on a diet and want to be served a portion that's just enough that you don't starve, and feel special when you pay over $100 for a meal for two, drive up the mountain a bit to find something more suitable for yourself...More
After doing Hotel Chocalat our driver took us to Big Yard. I had BBQ chicken and chowmein and my husband had blood check with Mac-N-Cheese. I wish I had saved some of my food for the local dogs. Cool local vibe and a must do.
I was so impressed by this local establishment that we ate there twice in one week. It was inexpensive but so devastatingly good. If you want to feel like a local grab some food here. Note that they don't stay open very late. Mostly a...lunch place.More
Stopped by for lunch, both had the 20ECD meal special - and it was massive - I hade the Saltfish and my friend had the BBQ chicken - all loaded with plenty of side dishes. Tasty, fresh and friendly staff. We will definitley drop by...again when next in Soufriere.More
My wife and I popped in here for lunch today and we both really enjoyed it. I don't remember the names of everything on our plates, but there was saltfish, salad and plantin. (green figs) Two plates plus a Piton beer & small bottle of...water cost us $48EC.More
We found out about this place from one of the staff at our resort. It’s a good place to take in if you happen to take a little tour of the town of Soufriere. You can either eat there or take your food to go...(option we took). It’s apparent you have local’s prices and tourist prices, there is no pricing on the wall for the food they have. You can ask but again, be prepared to probably pay a little more but compared to what you would pay at your resort it’s a welcome respite. The food is good and very plentiful and i didn’t feel the prices were crazy either. We paid $16 US total for both our meals. One was pork and the other chicken. Either the garlic sauce or bbq sauce is very good. We took our meals to this little tiny park near the main dock of the town to eat our meal. The two bench tables were taken but we sat and enjoyed our meals on the little wall stump along the park and had a nice little ocean view. We’re talking a block and a half away. No one bothered us while we ate and again, it was a good meal and it was legit local cuisine. They don’t take credit cards...EC money or US dollars.More
