The best tasting dinner we had and we went to several highly rated restaurants. Ambiance was chill and had an intimate vibe.

Pros - Orlando himself is friendly and seemed passionate about his food. - The chef tried to be creative with the menu (although not necessarily succeeding). Cons - Service quality was poor eg we had to pour our own drinks and the waitress thrust a...book and told us to hand write a review for the restaurant before we even finished the tasting menu. - Food was really underwhelming. Tastes were very similar and basic across the dishes. Portion sizes were small. Definitely not worth the price - I could find many places with much better food at a lesser price in St Lucia, let alone London. - Given how basic the food seemed to be, the restaurant took ages to serve us the food even though there were not many people. It took two full hours until we were able to leave the restaurant. - They charged us almost US$5 for tap water and also added 10% VAT and another 10% service charge - we were not told there would be VAT added on top. Our total bill was circa US$170 for two people. The table behind us actually asked for the bill on their fourth course and didn’t even bother with dessert!More
Did not know what to expect, but starting with drinks and onto several courses, the food was delicious and fresh from the Island. The service was wonderful and I totally enjoyed this experience.
A visit to Orlando's is always an experience and a highlight of a visit to St Lucia. Orlando seeks out what is fresh and interesting each day from the market and the surrounding farms to create a five course tasting menu, set in either the...courtyard or his upstairs patio of his home. It is so enjoyable to not have to choose from a menu but to be surprised by Orlando's creativity. Our dinner started with green banana soup, which was so deliciousl and smooth. We had courses of local vegetables to create such an interesting crunchy salad, fish cake which were so subtle in their texture and flavour, chicken with the BEST corn bread any of us had ever tasted (it melted in one's mouth), shark which was a first for us and was fabulous. The final course was two experiences in one; a chocolat mouseMore
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Orlando's. We ate downstairs which has an intimate feel akin to being in a private house. The bar/restaurant upstairs sounded more lively. As other reviews state the menu is fixed and on our visit we were treated to the...delights of; Plantain and salsa amuse bouche, delicious grapefruit based palate cleanser drink, fantastic lobster bisque and vegetable soup with the two soups separated by a line of oil topped with a crouton (very clever), spicy mango salad with avocado, Snapper and risotto, smoked chicken with aubergine cornmeal finished by a fruit compote crumble and a coconut pot with ice cream. Orlando presented each dish with an explanation of the dish and its Caribbean heritage. I certainly do not agree with other reviews criticising the dishes and indeed the price (for what we received - the Caribbean is expensive). Orlando moved among the tables to chat individually with customers and even called us a taxi personally.More
We had a group of 18 people at Orlando's yesterday and it was a truly amazing experience. The meal included an option or chicken or shark for the main course and they were both superb. The staff were very attentive and the presentation of each...dish was impressive. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit when in St. Lucia.More
We went with high expectations as a fellow guest had said it was the best meal they had all holiday. A bottle of water was provided then we were offered Chardonnay or sauvignon blanc by the glass and no price mentioned. It was 10$. We...felt the presentation was lacking finesse. In our five course meal we had two dishes of chicken. Unfortunately the waiting staff were not sure what was in each dish. For one course we were each given a different dish then asked to “share the love” eating half a dish then passing to your partner does not equate with a tasting menu. The whole menu was heavily spiced which I understand is the Caribbean style but sadly the spice overpowers individual flavours. Apart from the dessert one course tasted very similar to the next. We understand that the chef has a passion for food and is most hospitable unfortunately, on this occasion we didn’t appreciate his menu selections. The music was rather loud making it difficult to hear what was being said. We were treated to a rum tasting which was interesting.More
Having read so many reviews full of praise, we were amazed to find quite an average set of dishes - with one course as the only highlight - and lack of adequate service mainly due to shortage of staff. As Soufrière clearly demonstrates a lack...of decent restaurants for tourists, it’s not hard to see why this place would be highly reviewed in comparison. It seems like a cash-off for what it has to offer.More
We met friendly chef, Orlando, who shook our hands and invited us to visit as we were walking by his restaurant so we decided to call for reservations the next evening. In all fairness, I did not know how expensive his restaurant was, nor do...we frequent fine dining. Upon arriving, we were seated by the waitress, who informed us it is $70 a person for a 5 course meal. We were surprised but had already taxied down so we went ahead w the meal. The waitress was very kind but seemed utterly confused. She brought us the first course twice as she had forgotten she had already brought and cleared it (we were the only couple in the lower level at this time). When another couple arrived ( the wife was gluten free) the entire evening, the waitress continued to mix up who needed the gluten free dish and brought it to us. After the first bottle of regular water, she told us she was out of regular water & only had sparkling water. It tasted like regular water to us and I guess it was mineral water imported from Italy? They charged us $10 for this fancy water we didn’t even order- instead of comping it. We also paid $4 for the regular water bottle you buy for$1 all over town. We found the entire experience bizarre. It took a long time to receive the food. Honestly, by course 4 and our 2nd hour there, we were over it. The food was different and flavorful. You can tell Chef puts thought into his flavors- we enjoyed the risotto best. Some of the portions were minuscule. We try to be understanding and give the benefit of the doubt (I honestly thought the poor server was having memory issues or a stroke when she stumbled)….but when the check came and was $185, w waters, VAT & sales tax, before tip, we had major regret. I wanted to ask them to correct the $10 water, but it would have taken 20 minutes, our shared taxi had arrived and we wanted out of there. We paid $16 at Fedo’s for lunch and enjoyed our experience more. Yikes! Another review said it best:good chef who needs to hire a manager (oh and for Heaven’s sake- give us free water at $70 a person).More
Fabulous, delicious, fresh local food lovingly prepared by Orlando and the team. Excellent, friendly, truly hospitable service. Orlando is a fine host, happy to explain his mission to promote wonderful Caribbean cuisine. Such a great start to our St Lucian adventure xx
Second time visiting Orlando. Always something different charming and creative chef. He uses local ingredients and makes wonderful food.
We had a lovely dinner - delicious food, fine service, nice drinks. Atmosphere was great, albeit a bit odd! Loved it
I visited Orlando’s Restaurant on December 26. I did not have a reservation and arrived tired and hungry at around 20:15. The restaurant was empty besides one couple who were just about to leave. The chef / owner Orlando greeted me and explained that they...only have a 3-course and 5-course surprise menu. I chose the 3-course menu consisting of soup, salad, and main for $45 USD. As I was pretty exhausted from a day full of activity I did not mention my dietary restrictions but was also not asked about them. The soup arrived pretty quickly, and while it was flavorful it was nothing special. The salad came in a tiny martini glass and the waitress had no idea what was in it. She mentioned avocado and chicken, but there were at least 3 other ingredients in there. It didn’t matter as it was at best 3 forks of food altogether. At this point, I was hoping that the main would be more appropriately sized. The waitress came with a plate soon enough which had three different types of meat and some potatoes and vegetables on them. To be fair it looked decent. She started explaining that there is lamb and pork at which I stopped her and said that I do not eat any pork, but I am fine if she just removed it from the plate. She then used her hand to take the first piece of meat from my plate, which to me certainly looked like lamb. She must have come to the same conclusion, and again used her hand to remove another piece of meat from the plate. I wasn’t sure where she was going with this and I don’t think she did either. On top of that, she did not know what the third meat was in the first place. She then decides to bring the plate back to the kitchen and once again uses her hand to put the two pieces of meat back on the plate. Of course, I assumed that they will bring me a new dish considering that this was one touched multiple times by the waitress. However, she returns in under 45 seconds and just tells me that the actual pork was removed. I was shook. I guess there was no learning from 2+ years of pandemic? I stood up and paid for the two first courses and a beer that I ordered. $20 not so well spent. Orlando did offer everything to be free of charge, but I insisted to pay what I owed. That said, there are many better and cheaper options in Soufriere that have local food that is simple yet tasty and adhere to common sanitary guidelines.More
Delicious locally inspired cuisine that was perfectly cooked. Many courses filled us up. Love that the menu changes based on what is in season. Orlando is a wonderful chef!
We had a great dinner to finish our trip to Soufriere and enjoyed our conversation with the chef very much. It was a set 5-course menu with really creative dishes. Food was delicious but really expensive (we were told $65 per person but the bill...was over $250 for the two of us including drinks and tip and we only had a couple of glasses of wine and water, nothing too fancy). Definitely not for every day but it was an experience and totally worth it.More
