Before jetting off to St. Barth’s to celebrate our wedding anniversary, I meticulously researched places to visit, activities to enjoy, and top dining spots. Amidst the buzz and glowing testimonials, I’Isola emerged as a culinary gem, consistently topping dining lists. With anticipation, we chose it...for our first dinner on the island after a weary day of travel, eager for a splendid meal and an exquisite dining experience. Upon entering, it was evident that the owners had invested considerable effort into every detail: the tasteful wall colors, strategic uplighting, elegant table linens, the thoughtful placement of the bar, and the carefully selected artwork adorning the walls. The menu boasted an extensive list of specials, an impressive wine selection, and the food was prepared flawlessly. The intent was clear: to create a sensory journey so complete, nothing was left to chance—except, regrettably, the service. It was disheartening that despite the meticulous attention to detail in the ambiance and cuisine, our experience was marred by disorganized service, lacking in communication and consistency. Our lead waiter, while knowledgeable and affable, was only tasked with taking our order. Another waiter delivered our food, and yet another cleared our plates. A simple request for more water was acknowledged but forgotten as the waiter vanished, never to return, preoccupied with another table where he seemed more engaged. After an exasperating 20-minute wait and having to physically stand to catch our waiter's attention, we requested water again, along with the check. It's apparent there's a lack of communication and teamwork among the waitstaff, which undermines the potential greatness of I’Isola. The owners have crafted a perfect facade, from the decor to the dishes, yet this is continuously compromised by service issues. Whether due to discord among the staff, the result is a tarnished experience. This restaurant has all the makings of greatness, but unless the team dynamics are addressed, it risks being perennially deemed merely "good."More

After an almost 10 year hiatus from this restaurant, though I am on St. Barth's each year, my husband and I were willing to give it another chance and take our guests there after not letting them try the place in their many visits. If...possible, this recent dining experience was even worse than the one long ago; the arrogance of the wait staff, coupled with the incompetence of the kitchen staff, could not be outdone. With four of us ordering different pastas, figuring it should at least be a safe bet at an Italian restaurant, we all chose to leave most of our food in the bowl rather than eat it. My al dente pasta could have been cut with a steak knife, and the Amatriciana sauce was a glob of sauce that Ragu likely wouldn't put in a jar. The rest of our table simply didn't find their choices the least bit interesting, completely lacking creativity and taste. Sadly, L'Isola is a symptom of attracting the many tourists who flock to St. Barths under the pretense that they have a reputation for fine Italian food. For those of us who have gone to the island almost 40 years, and will continue to spend time there, this restaurant is a testament to "if you charge a lot of money for mediocre food, the customers will just have to assume it's good."More

When everyone leaves the restaurant saying it’s the best meal they’ve ever had 🤗 When visiting St Barts 🏝️ if there is one restaurant you must visit it’s @lisolastbarth , the service was 15/10, food quality was that of being in Sicily and the atmosphere...was vibrant and elegant. We loved our meal so much we may be back again during our stay. Waited a whole year to get back to this place and it was worth it! I did feel a bit rushed this time as other diners have commented, but we had good service and amazing food. I miss some of the bread sticks they used...to have and I'm usually disappointed in my cocktails here; they just look at me like I'm crazy when asking for a ginger margarita, but the food is phenomenal. I eat it all and love every second of it. I'm a pasta lover, and at L'Isola, you won't be disappointed in any of the pasta dishes. Now I'll spend the next year eating fettucini bolognese and cacio e pepe everywhere looking for something that comes close and be disappointed. See you next year, L'Isola!More

My wife and I had a wonderful evening. Great service and great food. Our servers allowed us to order at our pace. Cocktails then an order of grilled calamari shrimp and scallops! Perfectly cooked and large portion. Then we decided to split the fettuccine bolognese....The best bolognese we have had in a restaurant! Only my wife’s is better. Very relaxed and elegant evening. Big shout out to our main server Niko however all the staff were very polite. Expensive??? Yes….No different than our other stops in St Barts. Highly recommend!More

We went for our anniversary. The dining room is lovely and the environment is high end Italian. However, the wait staff is in. A hurry to move you along for the next sitting. They pressured us to make wine decisions before we had even has...a chance to see the menu. We made an antipasto and main course decision under a bit of duress and before we finished the antipasto, the main course arrived. The waiter kept pouring wine before our glasses were 1//3 empty. We felt rushed the entire time on an evening that we wanted to enjoy, and we left without ordering any dessert. Bottom line, probably a nice restaurant with good food, but the production line type of service makes this a must avoid restaurant.More

Yummy menus, nice pastas , of course meats and fish. Sharp service, fun and active and very design savvy. They also have an upscale outdoor pizza restaurant down the street, not to be missed.

Things started going down hill immediately when we were seated at a small table which was almost on top of a table for six in the middle area of the restaurant. It was as if our table was crammed in only for a busy Saturday...night. The noise level made it difficult to carry on a conversation with my wife who was 2 feet away. Although the staff seemed nice, the service was horrible as they had no time to be attentive. In a restaurant of this caliber you expect some level of attention from the wait staff. My chair was bumped at least half a dozen times by the staff running around. The plates were just dispatched from the kitchen and placed hurriedly on the tables (not only ours). No one asked if we needed anything else like wine, which we asked for and never heard back. By the time we finished our main courses, we called it quits and asked for our check. The manager asked us how the dinner had been, and we told him. He was apologetic, comped us the cocktails we had at the beginning of the meal, gave us complementary glasses of limoncello and a Tiramisu, but by then, we were ready to leave. In regard to the food, the meal was ok but nothing extraordinary. The mixed seafood grill appetizer was good. The tomato sauce in the Linguine with short ribs tasted like store bought tomato paste, and my wife’s shrimp risotto was undercooked. When we last ate at L’Isola, which was many years ago, the experience was very good. But I can’t remember a worst overall dining experience, and I am not planning on revisiting L’isola anytime soon, if ever.More

Fabulous meal and service. Wish we had gone earlier in the week as it was a nice break from all the other restaurants (that were great but more of the same). Enjoyed the meal very much and the speakeasy after dinner. We will be back...for sure. Grazie!More

Worst meal on the island. Waiter tried to sell us a whole fish for 4 people that would have easily fed 10. Once we declined he basically wrote us off. Pasta was mediocre at best. Skip this one!!!

We were with friends to have dinner, the place is small for the quantity of people inside, we were dining extremely close to other tables. The service was very good but our dishes were just ok, I ask for the spinach ravioli and it was...just few pieces with literally nothing inside. Pasta was ok but nothing really good . Drinks…… the worst martinis ever!!!! And of course extremely expensive for what you get!More

Ok they don't have a water view but the restaurant is gorgeous. The decor is well done and the atmosphere reminds me something cool in Manhattan. My husband and I travel to Italy once a year and the food at L'Isola is authentic. All the...staff is uber friendly. Stefan and Giuseppe went out of their way to take great care of us. Everything we had was fantastic from seafood pasta to the house-made burrata/prosciutto board to my personal fav the cacio e pepe! Can't wait to visit again.More

I ordered a plate of eggplant parmesano, veggatable soup and salad to go and was very excited about the food because ive heard great things about the place. However, when we opened the bag the distes were e tremely tiny...the soup portiok was tiny (...no exegerration 4 spoons in total) had no taste & they charge 36 euro for it. The same with the aggplant parmesano 😮. Very disappointed with the portions taking I to account its not a cheap place. Not worth the hype. May be pasta is great there, I dont know but Le sereno or La case serve better food and nice portions. We had a pumpkin soup at La case and it was delicious and fresh,a 3 -times bigger portion than in L' isola. After 3 dishes, I was still hungry and had to order food to go in Le sereno...:/ sucksMore
