Beautiful views of Gustavia with friendly service and excellent sushi! A must do- we even went twice! Don’t miss the mahi crunchy roll and bun!

A nice evening, great service and lovey view

The menu is not the same as posted on their website which was a disappointment. The food was fine just not what was expected. The view of the harbor was great and the service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and I would go back for drinks.

What a beautiful morning place

I been here with friends for a birthday party, i cloudn’t get anything better! The service has been so good, great welcoming. We were 12, all the team as been great, so thanks a lot for your attentions! Food concept is unbelievable good, I fault in love with the langust salad! Nice drinks, great vibes, I really recommend this place, can’t wait to come back soon! I can eve say, they got an awesome view to the gustavia port!

Mediocre Sushi and Service

SkyBar is now a sushi restaurant. The quality was mediocre and the staff was more interested in chatting with each other than paying attention to us. We were the only ones in the restaurant the entire evening. It’s a shame they can’t get a good restaurant in that beautiful space.

Better Than It Used To Be

The menu now takes on an Italian spin. Two years ago we enjoyed this place with Lebanese flavors, we like the Italian better. Our starters were a kale Caesar salad and fried calamari, both prepared beautifully. We had an amazing lobster bisque as an amuse bouche followed by a perfectly grilled and even more perfectly filleted Branzino. It was filleted at the table and you'll love watching a master at work. Our other main dish was linguine a la vongole. Al dente pasta with dozens of tiny clams (not in their shells) and cherry tomatoes. A different preparation than we're used to in the U.S. and really good. The service was excellent and cheerful. The view remains the same -- wonderful. You'll like it well enough to forget that you had to conquer a steep hill to get there.

A true surprise

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times in the past but this was the first time I tested the new concept. The restaurant has had a mayor face lift and it looks amazing! I love the lounge they have created where I enjoyed a cocktail with my friends before sitting down for dinner. The new menu takes you to new heights! I specially enjoyed the alfredo with truffles and the cheesecake for dessert. The staff is very knowledgeable and the service was great. I would definitely recommend this restaurant

What a disappointment

We recently returned to our favorite island, St. Barth, and were anxious to try a few of the newer restaurants that have opened since our last visit. I have been excited to try Ociela in Gustavia as the reviews were great and the food pics posted on social media looked delicious. Unfortunately our party of four were disappointed with our experience. There were only four other people in the restaurant during our visit. We were seated at a lovely table with a view of the harbor (after we requested the plastic shade be rolled up). Our server was attentive, however with a restaurant of this caliper, I expect the staff to inform the patrons if a menu selection is particularly strong of a certain ingredient. This was NOT the case with our kale caesar salads. I am well aware that caesar dressing is on the salty side from the anchovy, but this was a strong "fishy" flavor which some may like, but not the two of us. Next, there was too much time between when first two entrees were presented and other two.... it was not busy and yet there was 3-4 minutes between. My entree did not look appealing with too much pesto. The men ordered seafood items: mussels & frites and the black tiger prawns. Both tasted of ammonia. In addition, the french fries were cold and soggy; the prawns were tough and chewy. We love spending our vacation on St. Barth and have never had any reason to write a poor review of a restaurant, but this experience could not be overlooked. Knowing that it is low-season, we can understand having substitute staff working, however we did not expect the quality of the food to be poor when they are known for fresh, organic ingredients!

Dear hollylovestoeat, We take our commitment to customer satisfaction very seriously. Your enjoyment of the food and our service is of the utmost importance to us, that is why we only work with the freshest & finest products available daily. Following your recent review we have been contacting all our guests and we have no record of you eating at our restaurant or ordering these dishes as we also have no record of anyone complaining about the dishes that you mentioned, dishes that are among our bestsellers. We also do not understand why you are mentioning substitue staff as our professional team has been the same for quite a while now. Strangely your review appears to be very similar to a review posted earlier this month by one of our guests. This looks for us a bad faith effort to damage our reputation and it is regrettable... Sincerely

Ambiance was incredible, service was spectacular and catered to my wife’s food allergies. The view was phenomenal!! The food was second to none, great selection!! Wide variety of skillfully made cocktails!!! Can’t wait to go back!!!!

this restaurant is a real nice surprise, I came with my wife to this place and we were really happy, both for the service and for the quality of the dishes, which were first of all delicious and secondly beautiful, just of works of art ... thanks for the wonderful experience given to us ... even the quality / price ratio is perfect ... go and find them, listen to me :)

Just not good

I hate to write this, but I have had well over 100 meals in St. Barts and this was by far the worst. My wife and I went with another couple and all the meals were sub par. I started with the Octopus and is was very average. Unfortunately two other people ordered the kale Cesar salad and could not eat it as it was very anchovy based. I like anchovies and did like the salad, but for people who don't love anchovies, the salad was not edible. While I do understand that a Cesar salad can be high in anchovies the menu did not say so and the server did not warn us. At a restaurant at this price point and "level" you would expect a server to let you know. Also, when the server came back to ask how the salads were and was told they could not be eaten and why she said "oh" and walked away. And then the meal got really bad... I ordered the muscles and frites - the muscles were tiny and tasted like ammonia, which means they were too old and the fries were soggy (by far the worst fries I have ever had on the island). My friend had the Black Tiger prawns, which also tasted like ammonia and our wives had the Zoodles both were cold and inedible. On a positive note the wine was good, but they didn't have to cook that. I have seen many good reviews, but unfortunately we had the exact opposite experience.

Your enjoyment of the food and our service is of the utmost importance to us, that is why we only work with the freshest & finest products available daily. As we surely can understand that you did not like our kale salad served with a Caesar dressing prepared with anchovies as it is supposed to, when our waitress came back up to your table you did not tell her about this matter which, we would have gladly replaced your salad with another dish of your choice, free of charge. Regarding our lobster zoodles we would like to kindly remind you that it is specified on our menu that it served lukewarm in order to avoid being too watery and therefore inedible per se. If it is served hot it will not be crunchy. All our ingredients are personally tested by our chef everyday to ensure the best fine dining experience possible, we do not understand how any of them could taste like ammonia... We sincerely regret we did not live up to your expectations and should you wish to return, we would like to invite you again and ensure you an excellent dining experience amongst us. Sincerely,

Wonderful!

The staff was attentive to our two girls and my husband and I. We had the hummus and the mussels to share which were amazing. The cocktails over the top! Our meals of black truffle fettuccine and lobster and shells were delicious. The molten chocolate cake not to be missed. We chose spur of the moment and so glad we did. A true gem in St. Barth.

Best meal in St Barth’s !!!

This is a relatively new restaurant. Italian fusion food is amazing !!! Cocktails super yummy. This pasta is hand made by and Italian pasta maker in house which is ridiculously delicious. (And thank you for the introduction). Appetizers are so good. We had mushroom risotto, truffle pasta Alfredo, meat balls among other things and everything was to die for. Please don’t forget the desert! That’s a killer ! Will definitely be back on our next vacation on St. Barth’s
