We dined at El Picoteo because it was convenient for us...we were staying at El Convento. We absolutely loved the atmosphere and the service was very good, but the food fell short of our expectations. We had ordered a pitcher of red sangria and an array of tapas, but not one of them was to our liking. Not sure why... More

Stopped here for a light lunch on a hot day. The setting is gorgeous and it felt like I was transported to Spain when I walked into the courtyard. Tried the gazpacho, which was perfect - light, cool, flavorful - and the hummus, which was also tasty. Service was good, though we drained our water glasses faster than the waitress... More

After a long hot tour of San Felipe del Morro Fortress, we needed this restaurant/bar. The food was wonderful, everything we ordered was perfectly made and very shareable (tapas). Sitting in the shade with a glass of wine, eating delicious and interesting food revitalized us.

Great food and drinks, the place is lovely. You feel like you are in old san juan because the bar is in a ex convento type of arquitecture so it makes it lovely.

We found this tapas restorant while we were walking on the narrow streets of old San Juan. It is located in the historic El Convento building. We loved the tapas, especially ceviche. Our server Nathalia was a great host and loved her food and wine recommendations. It's a kid friendly place but It would be great for a romantic, candlelight... More

We were walking around Old San Juan and had a lunch break here. Ordered the Sangria which was too sweet. Menu is very limited. We had the mixed appetizers which were just ok. I had seen so many great reviews but we were disappointed. Service was friendly. We ate upstairs - ran into people at the hotel who had eaten... More

We had a great, relaxed meal in a beautiful, semi-outdoor setting. We sat at a table not far from the bar. Certainly one of our fave meal experiences in PR. We tried many of the tapas and the tasty red sangria (don't miss it). The service was attentive too. If staying at El Convento (or not), try it. (wear some... More

Having lived in Spain for a year, I was thrilled that there was a tapas bar in the hotel (they're not affiliated). But the food and atmosphere at Picoteo were both subpar. The sangria tasted more of rum than red wine, the tabla de embutidos was disappointing all around (but particularly the meats), and the awning protected nearly nobody from... More

Warm beautiful ambience. Great friendly staff. The tapas that my husband and I ordered were so delicious! (Pork Al Pastor, Tortilla Espanola, and Argentinian sausage with chimichurri sauce). Worth your money. They also have the best mojitos in comparison to the ones that I have had in New York City. This is a must place to go to. Stop by... More

Stopped here for a late lunch based on good reviews. Great ambience and the outside seating is great. I had the salmon and thought the cream sauce overwhelming. The octopus on the other hand was delicious as were the empanadas and cheese plate. So good experience and would definitely recommend it but not outstanding.
