My daughter and I were in this place today, we were the only customers so our food was prepared with great care by someone with culinary knowledge, the presentation of the dishes were very original and the flavor? Truly delicious, maybe a little expensive, but I think it's really worth it, we ordered strawberry and ginger lemonades, very refreshing and well prepared drinks. The waitress who unfortunately doesn't remember her name was very attentive and kind and answered all our questions, in addition to suggesting the delicious vegan dessert; chia pudding with blueberries with a touch of cinnamon! We had a very nice view towards Plaza Colon. It is worth traveling in this season that there is no excess of tourists and you can enjoy all the places very calmly.

Don't let the name fool you. Nothing on the menu is German or even European. Instead, they serve very tasty Puerto Rican food and some foods you might find in a typical American casual restaurant - like warm hummus and pita. The empanadas have a great, soft shell and are stuffed full of well seasoned meat. The Boricua Fest is a great combination of food - chicken was excellent and the tostones with fresh avocado slices on top were refreshing. Also refreshing was the Healthy Mix drink - tasted like a mint lemonade ice... perfect refreshment after a few hours walking around Old San Juan. Be patient, though. The service is friendly, but not fast. They include a 20% gratuity on all orders - perhaps based on their own experience being situated in the main square of tourism. It's got a nice, old-Europe cafe decor. The atmosphere is 4 stars because it can get kind of loud when the tables are full in this small venue.

After a Saturday Morning walk from Ocean Park Beach to Old San Juan (4 miles) we were ready to get out of the heat and into a place to get either a late breakfast or early lunch and stumbled into this fantastic spot. The Spinach and Mushroom omelette was made to order. The Avocado Toast with poached eggs was pretty special. The toast was Texas Size so finishing the tasty bread was not to be in the cards, yet the eggs were perfect. Topped off with a freshly made glass of Sangria was fortification to continue the journey into the old town.

Good food - WAY OVERPRICED. The place was almost empty. We passed busy restaurants to eat here. I may be speculating but I believe the prices have something to do with it. (Note: we have eaten at plenty of local restaurants and this is at the high end) I feel bad for the wait staff with minimal customers.

I am a casual vegetarian but I would REALLY warn guests to steer clear of the vegan mofungo with garlic sauce. The butter substitute is a strange white gelatin which doesn’t absorb any flavor… the dish needed to be doused in salt, pepper, hot sauce and (thanks to the kindness of the staff who could see how miserable my experience was) even creole tomato sauce for the dish to have any flavor. Seemed like a very expensive $33 for a dish that really should be removed from the menu altogether. The staff was really kind and attentive and did their best to salvage the dish… the creole / tomato sauce version is decent but whatever you do don’t get the vegan mofungo with garlic sauce.

We went there around 12:30 for brunch. We first asked for coffee to start and it was frustrating that they don't serve coffee at that time in the day. We ordered an avocado toast, an omelette with cheese and onions and two fruit juice and waited for more than 1 hour for them to be served. Both the avocado toast and the omelette are the worst in my whole life and we paid around 70 dolars including tip which is quite expensive for such low quality service/food. It was such a bad experience. In the avocado toast there was a thick cut salmon fumee which was still frozen and you could hardly find avocados. The omellette was full of oil and uncooked thick cut onions in it. The waitress was nice but she was extremely busy since this poor lady was trying to take care of all the tables alone. To sum up, I will never go there again and never recommend my friends.

We were seated right away by a very courteous wait staff. On the menu is a little advisory about the quality of food taking longer than may be expected to prepare. It also mentioned not retuning ideclining food that was not made to the flavors you expected. Our entire group was actually excited by this. We were expecting a top notch dining experience with amazing flavors and depth. We waited over an hour for brunch items including drinks and appetizers. The appetizer fruit plate arrived only moments before some of the main dishes after an hour wait. Egged Benedict was cold. The eggs on the Benedict were actually hard boiled. The house potatoes were frozen French fries. The tofu scramble arrived cold as well. The food was not presented at the same time several plates arrived 10min after the others. We were apprehensive about voicing any concern with our food at all after recalling the advisory. It felt like we had no other options then to accept and eat this cafeteria quality food Yet the coffee was delishes

We had the most unenjoyable experience today at Cafe Berlin. Though the food server was very friendly, the service otherwise was horrendous. We weren't in a hurry for our food, but we waited at least 25 minutes to be told that something wasn't available, which happens. The restaurant wasn't even full. But after another 10 minutes, we decided that nothing is worth waiting so long for. So we wanted to pay for our drink order and leave. Another food server proceeded to argue with us, saying that we, the customer were wrong and that he could varify as much. Even though at least 3 other parties were seated after us and served. And when the food did arrive, it was cold and incomplete. I get it now why the disclaimer at the top of the menu stated that "When the food does arrive that the customer will have to pay for it". Well, I guess this has nothing to do with "WHENEVER" it arrives, no matter the time. Well let me make this clear, I won't be putting myself in this postion again. And will share my experience with others.

Our waiter Nico was amazing!! He was friendly, told us about the history of the restaurant and the area and suggested many things to do in San Juan. The service was exemplary, the food was out of this world delicious and the price was perfect for the enormous amount of food we received. We are vegan and have trouble finding places to eat when we travel, but Café Berlin has tons of vegan and non-vegan options and everything on the menu is amazing, especially the tostones and plátanos maduros. You’ll love this restaurant! Ask for Nico!

My husband and I went here on the recommendation of another friend. The photos are good and so are the drinks. However, it was pretty pricey… I’m not sure if that is all of old San Juan or that particular restaurant… But the fried fish tacos were $32 and, the big bowl of fries and truffle oil and Parmesan cheese were $15. With two sangrias and sharing a meal with tip it was close to $100. Nevertheless, it’s very nice they located in old town and the food and drinks were very good.

Was looking forward to a late lunch/early dinner meal earlier this week and read the recent reviews about this restaurant, so it appeared promising. As a native-born Asian-American guy with a tan, I dressed casually (polo shirt/nice pair of shorts/panama hat), and when I walked in the main door noticed that my dress level fit right in. However, immediately this older guy (owner?) commented to me loudly ‘No coffee served here!’ and moved towards me as a gesture to indicate that I needed to leave. It hit me: not a single person of color in the restaurant’s dining area even with about 20 patrons & staff as I looked around the room. His phrase was a coded language to indicate ‘you are not welcome here’. Dug deeper and found a review from 2021 with similar racist undertones. My one sour note in an otherwise good experience in Puerto Rico.

Delicious food, generous portions. Family members recommended the restaurant from a visit a few months before. They were right! The menu has many good options for veggie and gluten free guests. Note that Cafe Berlin was closed for lunch on Thursdays the week we were in town.

CB or Cafe Berlin is an amazing, authentic Puerto Rican owned restaurant (don't let the name fool you, after speaking with the owners the name is an artifact of owners >15 years ago). This was our second visit to this restaurant having enjoyed an amazing meal here 4 years ago and we wanted to come back. Several in our group are enthusiastic seafood eaters and some are vegan. This place does not disappoint in any way!! We started with the avacado and lox, then had the seafood monfongo with criollo sauce, vegan monfongo, tofu with criollo and salmon with mango. Everything was fresh and bursting with flavor. The service was perfect and the food timely (waited less than a minutes for drinks and <10 for appetizers). This is not fast food! so I do not listen to the reviewers who complain about slow service and food. If you want something that quick just buy it from street vendor. The location on the plaza is a perfect setting in the heart of Old San Juan and the decor is inviting. Our server was very friendly, attentive to detail and even gave us some tips about things to see on the island off the beaten path. We are so relieved that this restaurant survived the >1 year shut down from the pandemic and cannot wait to return.

The service was amazing, and we especially loved having Tay and Sebastian! They were very helpful and the food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the Passionfruit Mimosa that Tay recommended, and the fruit platter. We recommend Café Berlin to any and everyone :)

What a great find. We had a superb light lunch. Perfect monitors to go with good food. Service was excellent. The owner made sure everything ran smoothly One disappointment was that they had run out of flancocho desert. Still gets a five star rating from us
