This Spanish tapas bar and restaurant is housed in one of the oldest building in San Juan (ex town Hall, prison etc). We had an early evening meal in the rear courtyard. Overall our visit was a strange experience. The food, from a wide menu, was good (if a little expensive) and the home-made sangria was fine as was the... More

The decor tries to be Andalusian, with black and white photos of flamenco dancers and a couple of copies of Romero paintings, but the freezing air conditioning quickly reminds you that you are in America. The waiters are friendly, but the food is quite disappointing: out of our 4 dishes, just one was good. Mine ( supposedly fresh grouper filet... More

First, this review is for Rosa's restaurant, not the bar which is entered from around the corner on Caleta de San Juan. We were seated in the courtyard which was festive but we were the only table aside from one other person. The waitstaff were fun, as was the sangria. But, the entrees were tasteless and not work the cost.... More

We wanted to try this because it was located in one of the oldest buildings in San Juan and was very authentic with minimal tourists. The service was overall quite friendly, but it took 90 minutes for 2 appetizers and they still messed up the order. When the food came it was not that hot and not really that good.... More

The building this restaurant is in was built in 1523, and was the first city hall and jail. Now, it houses a restaurant that can 'make your trip' to old San Juan!!! It's small, has ambiance and a great wait staff who are willing to tell you the history of the place. The food was EXCEPTIONAL!!! Please, do yourself a... More

It started raining, so my boyfriend and I just ran in to the first place we came to. It happened to be Rosa de Triana. It is a very cute "hole in the wall" type restaurant/bar. Built in 1523, it was San Juan's first city hall and was also used as a jail. So the history of the place was... More

Had a wonderful dinner two nights back. Excellent service and the food impeccable. The place is rustic and lovely, perfect for a romantic date. Great for tapas or a hearty meal. I had the Rissotto with Skirt Steak which was perfect! And as appetizer the 'buñuelos de queso de cabra y jamón' (fritters to die for! Jaja).

Be sure to taste the homemade sangria! It's really delicious! They made the best "Langostinos" in a garlic sauce. Great service too!
