We had a excellent meal here—I started with a drink based on golden rum and fresh passion fruit juice. Roasted eggplant and chayote squash salad for appetizers, followed by a barley and pumpkin entree for me and a tasty rice-based dish for my husband. Flourless...chocolate cake for dessert. Lovely decor and great service. Highly recommend!More

Due to Verde Mesa's reservation policy it took 3 years to get a table but it was worth the wait. Everything from the service to the food was of the highest quality. Hopefully it won't be another 3 years until we return.

Great dinner, service and overall fabulous. It was very busy as it was Valentines Day. Everyone in our group had a great meal.

This place came highly recommended by some locals and it didn’t disappoint. Small menu but everything seems spectacular. Cozy space, attentive servers make this a gem in Old San Juan. Fit for foodies it has inventive, local cuisine. And the soon to be famous dessert..., Purple Cloud is hands down one of the best desserts I’ve ever had.More

We had an amazing experience here. Based on TA recommendation, we were there when they opened which worked out perfectly. Old San Juan was still dealing with some power outages, likely due to the earthquakes off the southern coast but who knows. At any rate,...our order was in so we were told we would be served but others were politely turned away at the door until (unless) the power came back on. In the meantime, they offered a free glass of wine to everyone already seated and willing to wait and brought the candles out. We set up a phone flashlight for some additional lighting and were almost disappointed (for us, not the staff) when the power came back on. They made the best of a difficult situation and I offer my complements. Now for the food! It was delicious and this restaurant is on our MUST eat at list for our next stay in Old SJ. My husband had a tagine that was the best I’ve ever tasted. I should have written down the name but I’ll recognize it. And the purple cloud dessert will be another repeat. My mouth is watering at the memory.More

Who knew rice could be so tasty? Fresh and flavorful describes whatever these chefs do. Don't miss the Purple Cloud dessert!

Walk into this beautiful space, and ask yourself are you in Paris.... but no, you are encapsulated in the warmth of Old San Juan’s Caribbean splendor. The food is a mastery of technique and flavor. Vegetarian friendly!! Check out the building’s amazing tile work on...your way out the door and snap a pic at the park across the street of the bay!More

Recommended by a local. The menu had some Puerto Rican food and more choices. We had the tenderloin and vegetarian main dishes and shared them. Both were wonderful. Our waitress, Celeste, took care to explain the menu choices and their farm to table style. They...open at 6, take no reservations and don’t have a big sign out front. I had their address and walked by the first time. We arrived five minutes before 6 and waited across the street viewing the harbor. It’s small and cozy inside and their first seating filled quickly.More

We were excited to try Verde Mesa based on all the reviews and recommendations. Our only night in Old San Juan happened to be Valentines Day so we figured it was perfect. The menu was a prix fixe for 95 with wine pairings for 45....We were sat around 6:30 and did not leave the restaurant until 9:30. The food, while delicious, was often cold and we waited nearly a half hour between course. The wine pairings were less than half of a glass of wine and often not served with the intended course. Our waitress was very pleasant, but frankly we were disappointed in the experience. In the end we spent over 300 dollars with tax and tip and for that amount of money I would expect a seamless dinning experience. While the restaurant may be fine for regular days, we do not recommend the prix fixe days. Having decent food and nice waitress does not make up for poorly executed experience.More

Innovative fresh and tasty is the best way to describe our experience. We were a party of four arriving early and ordered several different dishes which included the tuna, swordfish and lamb ones. We all throughly enjoyed them as well as the appetizers. The coconut...flan is also amazing. Highly recommended! We come here every year at least once during our vacation in Puerto Rico.More

We had the lamb stew and swordfish. The lamb was hardy with a terrific salad and rice. The swordfish was very nice with a salad. The service was excellent with a team approach which always seems to work well. Thanks Happy Canadians 🇨🇦

No reservations her so get there early. We got there at 6 and was seated right away. By 7 dining room full.Service was excellent with great explanation of the Chef's creations. Wine list small and affordable. Food was excellent. Chef does some creative menu items....I left my Maui Jims on the table when we left and a server chased me down to give to me. Thank you! That sums up how the restaurant takes care of their guests! Look forward to returning next year!More

This restaurant is a farm-to-table gem in Old San Juan. If you are going to eat at only one place in Puerto Rico, I would highly recommend this spot for an epic and exotic fine dining experience. Our server Paola was lovely, charming, and very...knowledgeable about the cuisine. I felt like a princess the whole night. The food was nothing short of spectacular. I enjoyed each bite and trying to decipher the innovative, experimental, and amazing combinations of ingredients. For appetizers we had the local "chayote" ribbons ceviche-style. They were so pleasingly fresh and full of surprising new flavors to my palate. We also tried the beet and smoke pork which was a delicious combination, especially if you are a beet-lover like me. For the main course, I highly recommend the swordfish in delicious coconut sauce. It complemented so nicely with the arroz verde mesa which you cannot pass up. For dessert we had the cheese flan and the purple cloud. I loved ending with a perfume of lavender in my mouth. Excellent!!More

Frankly I loved this place. The food is great, the ambience is really nice, the presentation is good - all those things that would normally get a 5 star review. However I just can't bring myself to go that high when they refuse to take...reservations and won't help split the bill if there are multiple couples. These are just admin things that could be fixed easily, but for some reason they won't do it. I tried for 2 YEARS off and on to get in and never could and their front end management could have cared less. I'm glad they have the business and are doing well but really they could be a little more customer focused especially in a tourist area. That said when I finally was able to get in (can't tell you how) we had a really nice meal.More
