My wife and I and 2 friends visited Puerto Rico in July 2016. On our last full day we toured Old San Juan and La Madre was recommended to us by a local from a store we visited. The recommendation was great because the food, atmosphere and staff were excellent. Our waiter, Andres, was very friendly and provided a great... More

On our recent trip to San Juan, PR, were lucky to find this treasure of a restaurant on the final night of our stay. The bright and cozy interior, with colorful accessories and an artsy feel, made us feel welcome and right at home. The staff did as well. Our waitress and the manager were very friendly and helpful. I'm so glad that we came here for my birthday dinner. The food was amazing!!! We have been challenged to find descent Mexican food in PR until now! The staff was super sweet and even the chef came out to sing happy birthday. Their deep fried guava cheesecake was unreal! They wrapped it in a tortilla and the flavor popped... More

Excellent service. Mexican style food. Creative drinks, including Margaritas with local fruits. Nice for intimate meals and meetings. For the young( even at heart) and hip crowd.

We found this place as my wife was trying to find somewhere vegetarian friendly in San Juan. We thought they were closed at first so we started walking away but the owner came out and welcomed us in. Wow, best food we've had on the island. Mango mojito, fish tacos, pork burrito fundido and some homemade orange habanero sauce. Our... More

Had dinner here and was super impressed with the food and drinks. Cocktail list has a bunch of different falvored margaritas/mojitos (guanabana, ginger, etc.). I had a gunabana margarita which was great. The food was also some of the best food we've eaten here so far. The carnitas were perfectly crispy and fork tender.

We visited in June 2016. We had the chimichanga, pork ribs, mini chimis, and enchaladas. All were superb. The service was excellent. The Sangria was delicious and beautifully presented. One of the best meals we had in Puerto Rico.

Great vibe with delicious food. Breakfast/brunch is its claim to fame and they do it well. The pancakes were indescribably delicious. We also enjoyed the fish tacos (superbly cooked on just the right thickness tortilla) and a sopa de tortilla.

We are a small, locally owned business offering high quality meals cooked with the best ingredients. A very intimate space to enjoy lunch or dinner, and now brunch on the weekends. Fresh fruit juices, mimosas & margaritas, premium coffee and great music make this a place you don't want to miss.
