The only thing better than the food is the service. They are super attentive, however, you never feel rushed. They start you with fresh baked bread with olive oil and grated cheese. I had the fish soup on both of my visits. It is prepared...fresh and overloaded with mussels, clams, large shrimp and baby calamari. On one visit I had the veal chop, so tender and tasty and on the second I had fresh tuna, amazing. Mains come with fresh grilled veggies and a scoop of potatoes. Unfortunately, I never got to try the desserts as I was too full from my meal and wine. Also, important to note that I was a single female traveller and they made me feel welcomed and sat me in a great seat at front of restaurant. If time allowed, I would gladly go back a third time. Enjoy!More

I only write reviews when a place blows me away, and this place did just that! My friend and I chose it after a rough scroll through options in Old San Juan online and the internet did not let us down. There were just a...few other people in the restaurant, but it didn't make it any less cute and cozy. The service was impeccable from the beginning (don't remember names but two red-headed sisters were our servers and they were wonderful) . Definitely make sure you ask for the specials, as that is where the real magic is. Each one sounded better than the previous one. You can't go wrong! We chose the fried raviolis in pink truffle sauce, linguine with shrimp in saffron sauce and black squid ink spaghetti with seafood in garlic sauce. Not cheap but a must visit in San Juan, especially if you're looking for a break from (also delicious) mofongo and tostones.More

What a great meal with great service by Idia. A farfalle with salmon in a truffle brandy sauce really made the night. It was a busy night but we were well taken care of.

By the 4th night of our five days in old San Juan we had experienced three mediocre to bad dinners. We hesitated going to a restaurant near our hotel (Casa Blanca) because of it proximity to the docks and the huge hoards of cruise ship...passengers that often fill up the restaurants. When we saw the last of the floating mega hotels sail off around dinner we decided to try La Cucina di Ivo although frankly I expected it would be a spaghetti joint. Without the ships in port, the restaurant was nearly empty as we anticipated. The place is physically attractive and comfortable. The food and service were excellent. We had seafood with linguine followed by tuna and a veal chop for course #2 and wine by the glass. Everything about the place confirmed that this is a serious restaurant with a professional owner/chef. Not cheap but a dinner I will remember for a long time.More

Tonight we were having a drink in Old San Juan when we got to talking to a couple about our visits to Italy. They mentioned that the previous night they had the most delicious meal at this Family run restaurant. So glad we took their...advice and made our way here. Huge authentic Italian portions that made us feel we were back in Milan.More

Our last night in San Juan, front desk clerk suggested La Ivo. Wow..early in the evening so it was quiet. Relaxing decor, Excellent service, Great food! What more could we ask for - Fantastic Calamares - Dorado with Risotto - Pechuga with wonderful home cut...fries. We were stuffed and very happy when we walked out the door.More

We went for dinner tonight with 10 other family members. I had the homemade raviolis. They were as good as we've had in Italy. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and accommodating. So glad we went here for dinner.

I have been to the chef’s former location and it was very good. Tonight was not the case, the food was plentiful but not what I expected. It was bland. The spaghetti with tomato sauce had no flavor. The pasta with pesto seemed more like...a pesto soup with pasta. My risotto with prosciutto was good though. It was al dente and tasted good as was the meat carpaccio. The servers were very efficient and nice. Ivo is a very accomplished chef so maybe he was not in the kitchen tonight. Vey unlucky for us!More

My partner and I were recently in San Juan. We came across this restaurant close to 9:30 p.m., 30 minutes before closing, and had a wonderful dinner. We each had a drink, split an appetizer and a meal. The service was excellent and the food...was very good. I would recommend this restaurant for people looking for Italian food in San Juan, PR.More
