Stopped in for brunch at 10:40 and put in our name for 20 minute wait while we continued to stroll around Old San Juan. It was worth the wait to be seated (every table is by a window to enjoy the breeze). The local coffee (Gusto from Adjuntas) was so good we purchased a couple of bags to take with us. The 4 of us shared the shredded chicken empanada, an avocado toast on sourdough and the tostone stuffed with spicy crab. Both were amazing. We then shared a huge cubano and the largest fried chicken sandwich I’d ever seen! It was all super delicious, as were the guava cava mimosas. Service is friendly and helpful. Ambiance is Brooklyn hipster. Definitely a great place to include on any Old San Juan tour!

They serve the best shredded pork I’ve ever had in a brunch dish with beans and rice, sweet plantano, avocado, and bacon. The food was amazing and would highly recommend. Service was great, just slow. Food took about 45min to come out. There were many open seats, but still a 40min wait. Possibly short-staffed.

Our friends and family ate here multipe times. There were many delicious menu items. The brioche bread is the thickest and softest I've ever eaten. Try the stuffed cream cheese blueberry french toast as the side if one comes with your meal.

Unfortunately I had to send my food back two separate times because of hair in my food. They were out of pork, avocado, fruits (and they had a smoothie counter) and the drinks were good but not very strong. We came here on a Sunday during brunch hours. There was a 30 min - 45 min wait. Very nice space but just unacceptable to have hair in the food. VERY BIG turnoff and lost my appetite.

This was our third visit here for breakfast. It is a sunny, pleasant atmosphere, good service, and excellent food. We got omlettes, veggie for me and meat for hubby. Plus coffee, hot tea, and water. My omelette had cilantro sauce on top and the grilled onions, peppers and mushrooms were sooo good. Ingredients are fresh, last visit we saw the plantain man deliver a whole branch covered in fresh plantains. If you can, sit at a high top by the window there's a view of Luna Street and great people watching (but bring a hat or sunscreen). Or you can sit further inside or at the bar for a cool shade. Several couples at the bar were enjoying different kinds of mimosas. Always a good breakfast! Thoroughly enjoyed! Will be back. You should try it!

Yesterday was the first time I ordered from here and it was really good. I ordered mofongo with garlic cream and breast chicken. Only $10, which made it greater. I really recommended it and even I did not ate inside the local, I could see from outside that it was clean and beautifully decorated. I hope to come back when the quarantine ends and I encourage other people doing quarantine in San Juan to order from them. 😊

This review is for a Saturday Brunch, I’m sure they serve other meals and they’re great but I’m saying go for brunch! We arrived around 11:20 on Saturday and the only seats available were at the bar. We gladly took them and I was so impressed by how breezy and light it felt inside. The open windows let just the right amount of sunlight in and the fans kept the flies and the heat away from our experience. The lovely bartendress arrived promptly to discuss brunch cocktails and I ordered a cava sangria and my friend ordered a mimosa made with carribean cherries. They were divine, especially when enjoyed with a hot buttered Mallorca. It was our first time trying the local bread and we really enjoyed it. The powdered sugar was reminiscent of a beignet but mixed with a soft, light bread instead of fried crisp. For our meals, my friend instantly spotted the chicken and waffles and I was craving a more savory item so I selected the Bandera Jibara. We were both thrilled with our food when it arrived. The chicken pieces were generous and fried to perfection atop the giant waffles. My bandera jibara was easily two meals. A Fried egg, served atop pork, with avocado, rice and beans, (so much) bacon and sweet plantains. I ate as much as I could at brunch and even more later as leftovers. The staff was seemingly having fun playing excellent music and laughing with each other and with us. It was the perfect brunch vibe. We were sad for it to end!

10 days in Puerto Rico and finally a breakfast I can give a solid 4+. This is a nice laid back breakfast place with its wonderful view upon high and the large open doors. Love the mood!! I ordered the orange juice which tasted of fresh squeezed however not squeezed on the premises according to the waitress. My wife had some coffee which she thought was great as well. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles which I thought was very good with its topping of bacon slices, the Chicken was seasoned well and the Waffles were very good. I do order this dish everywhere we travel and this would make the top 10 but not in the top 5. My wife had the bacon, eggs, french fries and toast which she thought was very good but not her favorite. That being said this was the best breakfast we found in the 10 days we were in Puerto Rico. Will definitely visit again when on the island.

We were only in port for the day as cruise passengers. We chose to have lunch at La Carreta based on their appearances on multiple Food Network/Guy shows. I cannot tell you how happy we are that we spent our limited time in port visiting La Carreta. The food and drinks were phenomenal and our waiter, Sebastian, was fabulous! He was quick with whatever we needed and offered several suggestions. Some of the best food and service I’ve had in my 47 years. We will absolutely make this a priority destination anytime we are in San Juan. We went to the Old San Juan location and had the Sampler, the Sous vide chicken with sweet plantains, crispy chicken sandwich red beans and rice, white sangria and the mule. All were fabulous. Do yourself a favor and visit La Carreta and Sebastian!

Mercado La Carreta on Calle de la Luna in San Juan is a great place to go for delicious breakfast, brunch, and drinks. I really like the relaxed atmosphere here and being able to sit back and enjoy everything. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating.

Maybe a little over hyped. Brunch entrees were a mixed bag. Stuffed French Toast was very good, but the Eggs Benedict very bad - watery cheese sauce and the eggs way over cooked. Benedict must have a flowing yolk. Cocktails were decent but the one bartender was overwhelmed. Service was efficient and friendly enough. Hardly worth about $100 with tip and an hour wait.

At first glance, the place looked nice and staff seemed very friendly but once you get the bill you realized that it was all fake in order to distract you from the fact they overcharge you for things you didn't asked for. It's already overpriced and they will also not mention if things cost extra. It'll just appear on your bill. It's a very dishonest establishment and was the worse restaurant I went to in all of Puerto Rico. Don't be fooled by their fake appearance.

Amazing spot! Had the pleasure to be served by Jimbo who’s excellent service made us enjoy our cocktails and food even more. None the less Daniel came over to us and shared a few of his fav drinks and enhanced the experience. We also had a great conversation with Perla. Overall I recommend La Carreta 💯.

Jim was the best! The chai tea was amazing, the "classic breakfast" was ok and the service amazing also! Everyone asking if we wanted something else! Our table was under a fan and had a door beside it so made it very refreshing! The relaxing music helped keep a relaxing ambiance eventhough there were many of us there. Bring your evidence of vaccine because they ask for it. They don't have parking and there is no access for wheelchair to the bathroom or main room for there are steps in both places.
