Went in to try their Italian food and ordered 'Primavera' and 'Comodoro and basilico pastas and a chicken marsala - all very tasty and deliciously cooked. Loved it. Chase the food with an excellent Primitivo Italian wine. The place has a nice atmosphere with a blend of tourists and locals, mostly residents of Old San Juan. All reasonably priced. Worth... More

The food and drinks were delicious! I don't remember the name of what I ordered, but it was a rice dish with steak.. amazing! My friend ordered the chicken gnocchi.. also amazing! We were happily full with leftovers. I couldn't have asked for better service either - friendly and attentive! The restaurant is smaller, but definitely worth it if you... More

We were looking for a break from 4 days of local PR food and went for Italian. Il Bacaro Venezia was a very good choice. It is a small establishment with very good service and an excellent bartender. The Mojito was excellent but the house sangria was just ok. For appetizer the crab stuffed mushrooms topped with pink vodka sauce... More

Dinner was excellent. The lasagna was perfect. Pasta is fresh. The atmosphere is romantic. Try the spinach salad. The owner is very knowledgable in wine selections. If you are looking for a taste of Italy without going that far come to this restaurant.

We had a lovely dinner. Food was fresh and very good. The service was excellent as well until the end. The bill was 52.98 which seemed reasonable so I put 60$ cash. 15 min later no change came so we asked about it. They seemed surprised but brought us 7 back. They obviously assumed they were keeping it. The assumption... More

Sorry you had negative experience regarding the tipping in our restaurant. I must assure you we habitually NEVER assume the obligation for a gratuity, not on large groups, not with a bill split 17 ways, not even on a table comprised of at least one representative of every non-tipping nation on the globe. When an item is not to the... More

We enjoyed this restaurant so much that we went twice during our week in Old San Juan. The food was delicious (especially the crab stuffed mushrooms and the steak). Everything was cooked well, with great flavor. The mojitos were excellent. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Nice ambience for a quiet dinner.

The highlight was the lasagna with pink vodka sauce but that shouldn't take anything away from how delicious the bread, Caesar salad, spinach & gargonzola salad, and pomodoro with basil penne (though we had it with angel hair pasta instead of penne) were! A gem of an Italian restaurant!

This is hidden jewel in Old San Juan. Mostly locals know about it. It's fresco type painted walls and small seating make it intimate; it's not noisy which is good. They pick their own wines and have very good taste with not breaking the bank. Their mushroom risotto is crazy good. No worries here. Just enjoy.

After reading all the great reviews we expected more. Sadly our waiter did not read us the specials, we were left with the menu as our only option. We had pasta and chicken. Chicken was dry, pasta was tasteless and overcooked. Not what you would expect from an Italian resturant. Would have expected homemade pasta or at least pasta cooked... More

Sorry we were a disappointment, the last thing one wants on a vacation outing is a meal that is not up to their expectations.(well…perhaps not the very last..) In my experience a moist chicken breast in the tropics is more trouble than it's worth, while a plate of properly cooked, Italian 'al dente' pasta, here in Puerto Rico, translates into... More

We have not had a Lasagna this good since Montepulciano, Italy. Try it with the wine from there. Great for couples and families. Nice service, too. Cool ambiance.
