Beautiful , pristine beach, relaxed vibe. The shallow foreshore allows you to walk out a long way. Bring your snorkeling gear as there are lots of small fish to see (e.g. sergeant majors, dusky damsels on the nearby patch reef) .
Be prepared to cover the cost of beach chairs for all of the adults in your party or a cabana . The cabana is semi shaded and comfortable. The drinks and food are a little pricier and if you are looking for a heavy serving of food try elsewhere. The hummingbird and dirty banana drinks were tasty.
if you are into beach volleyball fan then you may have to bring your own volleyball to use the beach court that is already set up.
Tips & Notes : 1. Call ahead to reserve your spot at the beach as hey have max capacity limit. 2. There is a "full body "sanitizer that you will have to walk through upon entry.

The Sun is about to set my friend and I felt for a dip in the warm Caribbean Sea and a redstripe light and because the waitress was so accommodating and pleasant we decided to have a few appetizers saltfish and bammy brochette and stamp and go. Bamboo Blu was that place. I liked it tomorrow I’ll return for a day swim and may be lunch...

Take a few minutes out of your buffet and a la carte filled vacations to travel left down the beach from Riu Ocho Rios to see Cassemie at the Bamboo Blu on the ocean. Have a glass of wine, some of the finest foods you can find in Jamaica, and some of the most amazing cuisine and service you’ve ever experience. SO WORTH IT! Cassemie... 10 STARS! Xo

Bamboo Blu beach is about a 10 - 15 minutes ride away from the cruise port in Ocho Rios. My wife and I took a bus (taxi) from the port to the beach (cab cost $20 per person round trip). It was not a private taxi. I thought this was a bit expensive for a cab.
The beach it self is nice but there are some sea weeds in the water. The beach is pretty small as well. It's right next door to the Riu Ocho Rios, however beach access to the Riu is restricted. We got there early enough to get a day bed that cost us $45 for the time we were there. Beach chairs seems to be limited but if you get there early enough you can rent one, there are no umbrellas! There are a few ocean front tables and chairs to sit and enjoy some food or drinks.
As far as drinks, they all seem to be pretty sweet (drinks cost between $9 - $15). We didn't really eat because we went to Scotchies on our way back for some authentic Jerk Chicken/Pork. My wife and I would have like some nice Caribbean music in the background but the music was definitely lacking.

Lunch at Bamboo Blu was delicious and very satisfying. The restaurant is adjacent to The Riu, a resort hotel.
The biggest issue, which is an issue with all restaurants in Ochie, is finding the best time to go. You have to strategically find your time when the cruise ships are not in the area. The cruise crowd can easily double everything from traffic to wait time in restaurants.
The restaurant sits on the beach, which makes for a beautiful view as you dine, but creates additional traffic for food service. Our server was gracious, yet clearly stressed from the demands being put on her to satisfy requests from tables. I ended up busing my table and going directly to the bar to get our initial round of rum punch.
The lobster and crab wontons were average. The wings were flavorful, yet small. I can only recommend the wings if you are not very hungry. They will not satisfy a legitimate craving for food.
Overall it was a good experience, I would visit again.

Visited this evening. Looking forward to a nice meal for my wife's 60th birthday holiday. Arrived just before the sun set and what a beautiful setting. Table at the front of restaurant, couple of feet from the sea, lovely. Not busy but took a while for drinks and a bit longer for the starters. Half way through the starters the waitress announced the mains were ready and asked if we wanted them now or after the starters. After please. Nice starters but needless to say when mains came, they were luke warm at best. The wife's steak and fries were at least tasty but cold. My peppered curry shrimp, "the best curry in Jamaica", was cooked well but the curry was tasteless and very little heat. And luke warm. Plus we had to eat it in near darkness. And at a $121 bucks. I'd definitely recommend having a few drinks there, just for the setting but disappointed with the food for the price.

Spent my birthday at Bamboo Blu, it was a perfect chill day despite some drizzles. It's a beautiful stretch of beach which was lovely and clean, and the water inviting.
Christina’s beach service was friendly and warm and she was very helpful regarding which dishes to select from the menu.
Loved the Jamaican Kiss (had a few!) and the Saltfish “bruschetta” on bammy was enjoyable. Breadfruit and plantain chip “nachos” with scotch bonnet cheese were creative and “moreish.”
Highlight however was Denzel, realizing it was my birthday, and (literally) firing up my name in the sand in honour of my special day!
A lovely touch to cap off a perfect beach day at Bamboo Blu. Highly recommend, and would go again in a heartbeat.

I reccomend this seaside hidden paradise. We sailed on a 9 day Cruise which was 5 star, and our first port of call was Ocho Rios, Jamaica. My aunt reccomend this excursion, as it included transportation and beach access and 1 drink for $25/guest. This beach has clean restroom, a wading pool, bar/restaurant and parking. A special thank you to DENZIL THOMPSON, who went out of his way to accommodate our group of 8. He gave us a tour of the beach and the scoop on the local town. Overall, I would reccomend this beach/excursion property. About 15min from cruise port.

Following reading very good reviews on trip advisor had really high hopes for my visit to Bamboo Blu, and was delighted it was on our doorstep as we always like to visit local restaurants to break up the monotony of all inclusive, sadly these were not met. We were staying next door at RIU Ochos Rios, I had sent a message to book a table a few days earlier but heard nothing so my husband walked to book a table and we were happy they had a Saturday evening slot especially as there was extras on the menu that were not available on other days. On arrival the restaurant was almost empty other than 2 other couples, one couple who were obviously celebrating and had full attention of one male employee, names written in fire, constant photo’s being taken of them by bonfire etc. After our order was taken we were mainly ignored, which is fine but it would have been nice to have been acknowledged. Most things on the menu were not available, myself and son ordered lobster only $45 available which we were happy to order, this was nice although small for the price, husband’s curried goat and other son’s ox stew were alright but no different from the hotel’s, also not offered any desserts when asked for the menu the waitress said there was only 2 desserts available and obviously wasn’t very interested in serving them to us so we asked for the bill, paid and left disappointed. As I said had high hopes for the little restaurant and would have without a doubt returned several times throughout our holiday but after this visit, and after spending over 220 dollars on a underwhelming meal this is not the case and sadly would not recommend.

I came to bamboo blu to have dinner and the experience was an excellent one. Thanks to Tiffany who took great care of us. I asked her what she would recommend and she recommended the coconut whole snapper and wow it was mouth watering. She told us to wait around for the bonfire and it was my first time experiencing that on a beach it was beautiful. I will definitely be back to try the beach. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

We arrived on location on July 11 to a set of courteous staff who directed us to our cabana. Wow! The stretch of beach was amazing. Crystal clear waters for miles. The servers were on spot to take our orders. The food to be honest was not that great but it satisfied our hunger pangs. This place is great family or friends get together spot.

From the moment we arrived we felt like old friends. Denzil greeted us, seated us, & shared with us.
I ate the grilled spiny lobster - splurged for the $50 size - so worth it! I ate every bit of it. Loved the Cassava triangles (sorry forget what they were called). My daughter had the alfredo pasta which she loved.
To top it all off Denzil wrote my daughters name in the sand next to the water then lit it on fire. Talk about a great picture with a happy daughter!
Fabulous place right on the water. Very welcoming. We enjoyed ourselves.

Me and my husband had the best time celebrating our Anniversary at Bamboo Blu. Denzil coordinated our romantic dinner on the beach so amazing. It was the best experience we had and couldn’t have picked a better location to celebrate our special occasion. Also all the staff at Bamboo Blu is very professional and would give you a wonderful, peaceful and fun experience. If your ever in the Ocho Rios Mamme Bay Jamaica area please check out this beautiful restaurant on the beach you would not be disappointed.

Ok so I usually dont like to write negative reviews but i had to in this case. NEVER in all my years of living have I ever sat at a restaraunt for 30 minutes and not be asked if I would like a menu, drink, or anything. Its never happened where I live at in new york and Im so suprised it happened here especially after reading all the positive reviews. Im such a foodie and I was really looking forward to trying the big lobster and crab wontons. Im so dissapointed because being from new york i was looking forward to coming here for weeks and had to leave dissapointed. I only gave the one star for the beautiful beach. Bamboo blu u have to do better.
