I celebrated my 40th birthday at Jellyfish in Punta Cana (Bávaro Beach), and it was truly a dreamy, picture-perfect experience. The setting is absolutely stunning—beautiful ocean views, soft sandy beach, and a romantic, tropical atmosphere that makes it feel like something out of a postcard. They even took the time to put up a Happy Birthday sign, which was such a thoughtful touch!
The food was fantastic—we had delicious lobster and seafood, all fresh and well-prepared. However, one thing to note is that not everything on the menu is available in the portion sizes listed. For example, if the menu says a dish is priced per one-pound lobster or seabream, they’ll often say they only have larger sizes, like two or three pounds, which significantly increases the price. It does feel a bit like a way to upsell, so just be aware of that when ordering.
Aside from that, the overall experience was amazing! On Sundays, they have a DJ playing great music, which adds to the perfect beachside vibe. The atmosphere, the view, and the warm, sunny location make it an unforgettable place to dine and celebrate.
Would I go back? Absolutely! Despite the menu pricing issue, the service, ambiance, and overall experience were top-notch. Highly recommend for a special occasion or just a memorable meal by the beach!

Jellyfish Restaurant - Waiter Darrio
I had an unforgettable dining experience at Jellyfish Restaurant, and I owe much of it to our outstanding waiter, Darrio. From the moment we sat down, Darrio’s warm and professional demeanor made us feel welcome. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and confidently recommended the Seafood Grill—a dish featuring lobster, langostino, calamari, octopus, conch, red snapper, and fresh vegetables.
His suggestion was spot on! The Seafood Grill was beyond amazing—every bite was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. If I hadn’t been completely full, I would’ve ordered a second plate without hesitation.
Darrio’s attentiveness and excellent recommendations truly elevated our experience. If you’re dining at Jellyfish, make sure to ask for him. He made the meal as memorable as the dish itself. Highly recommend both Darrio and the Seafood Grill!

This place aesthetically is beautiful but service is very slow

The shrimp cocktail came out in a pool of cilantro base after I told her I was allergic he took it away but didn’t come back to tell me he was remaking or doing something different … when everyone’s food came out I asked about the shrimp cocktail he then explains that it is premade in cilantro…I then tell him I need to order something else and says it’s on the way
Also a little higher than average price. Lots of excursions and boats going out from nearby beach location beautiful to site see and goto beach if you want while eating just don’t expect big service during your time

This place is highly overrated. Our bill for 1 very average drink, 2 beer, 1 appetizer (6 small shrimp), 1 pasta and one chicken main (comes with one small side) came in at $175 Canadian.
Everything was average, not a lot of flavor. The service was rushing over occasionally to check on us, yet the waiter made sure to point out we should add a tip to the bill. The bathroom had no hand towels, no locks and doors that don't close. Walked past the kitchen and it was a disaster zone.
There are better places for far better value around Bavaro/Punta Cana.

The food was horrible, and highly overpriced.
The shrimp turned my stomach and the lobster bisque cold. The service was bitterly slow, it took 1.5 hours to get an appetizer and we had to go up to the front staff and ask for cutlery and napkins. We were first customers there and the last to be paid any attention too. 100% do not recommend. We even had a hard time paying our bill and ended up attempting to leave the cash on the table when the waiter finally came by to ask what was wrong.

The location and the walk from the road is treacherous. Especially if you are dressed up and wearing heels. Walking on those stones are an absolute ankle twister. The restaurant itself is airy and breezy and the beach view is lovely, but it ends there. The food was very very bland and severely overpriced . We all woke up with stomach pains so I’m not sure what happened but we won’t be back. The service was mediocre and the server was not engaging or interested if we needed anything else or how we were enjoying our food. He was very detached and impersonal and seemed rushed.

We came here while we were on our honeymoon. We loved it so much, we wanted to come back. We made a reservation for our anniversary. We show up and I ask if we could be seated outside. The hostess outside immediately got an attitude with me and said “first of all it’s storming outside, second of all there is a wedding here” I understand the storm is out of her hands. But why not let me know that there was a wedding there when I made the reservation and that seating would be limited? I also didn’t appreciate the “first of all, second of all” it was very snotty. Didn’t wanna give them our money to be honest. The food was very good the first time, but we actually ended up leaving this time before we even ordered our food because I just couldn’t get the bad taste from the hostess out of my mouth. Horrible horrible young lady, very rude. And yes I did say something to her after when we were walking out. I said I didn’t appreciate the way I was spoken to. And then she started yelling about how I should keep my hands off her. I only touched her to tap her shoulder to get her attention because she was chatting with another coworker at the bar…. And not at the hostess stand. Go figure. We just wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary where we spent our honeymoon. I will never come back to jellyfish. And I will make sure my family who often comes to the Dominican won’t go anymore either. Horrible.

Based on TA reviews, we decided to walk down to this restaurant for lunch one hot sunny afternoon. Restaurant is located off the beachfront, but with amazing views. Restaurant itself was clean, and has potential for great ambience but the food and staff downgraded it.
Staff itself were okay, they weren't over friendly nor welcoming. They seemed to lazy to cater to their guests and spent most of their time hunched in a group by the bar counter.
Didn't have local Dominican beer (Presidente) so had to go for Mexican beer which was annoying. The food itself was okay, it wasn't anything extraordinary as many reviews suggest. We had fried calamari, seafood paella amongst others. For the price of the dishes, we expected a lot more.
Would suggest you review the menu before you make a trip there to determine whether you want to risk spending your money on an over priced beachfront restaurant. Family of 4 (two adults, two kids) cost us $190 for lunch.

Unbelievable food, unbelievable views and fantastic service also! This place hands down deserves a Michelin star. My partner and I left our 5* all inclusive to come here as I personally wasn’t enjoying our food at the hotel. From starters to desert it genuinely was top notch. We have eaten at many Michelin star restaurants around the world over the years and the food and presentation is certainly on par with them.
Special mention to our server Sebastian who provided us with the best recommendations for food choices and even took the time to take some photos of us at dinner

Beautiful setting, but average food for a very high price and unpleasant welcome.,
No choice of wine, the very unfriendly waiter brings us a bottle of red wine saying that it's the only one they have,, no service, the only outdoor restaurant where smoking is prohibited, whereas in the country smoking is allowed everywhere, very average food for a very expensive price, what justifies this higher price than in France?

I recently had the displeasure of dining at the Jellyfish restaurant in Punta Cana, and let me tell you, it was a real sting.
The food was exorbitantly priced for the subpar quality we received. The lobster was overcooked, and the staff didn't even provide us with the necessary tools to extract what little meat there was. The pasta was completely lacking in flavor, and when my mother asked for a regular Presidente beer, they brought her the less popular Presidente light.
But the real kicker was when we received the bill and saw that we had been charged for two daiquiris that we didn't even order. When we inquired about it, the staff admitted that they had put the items on our tab because another table had jellyfished out on their bill. And to add insult to injury, they did all of this knowing that my parents were celebrating their anniversary.
We were given no discount on the bill and when my mother tried to complain at the bar they summoned a man with a seaweed pitchfork to chase her off.
I would not recommend the Jellyfish restaurant to anyone, and I would give it a solid one star rating. Don't get caught in this seafood snafu.

Second time eating at this restaurant. Food is great and location is great! However our waiter tonight was beyond terrible. When we finished desert it took 20 minutes to get our bill then he ordered us (didn’t ask us) to live tip in cash. Really embarrassing as we had friends with us.

We went to this Restaurant for dinner. The expectations were high as they have good reviews.
The staff was very very friendly and really helpfull.
Qualityof the food was very good and the food had a very good taste but unfortunatelly it did not came really hot to the table.
The prices in the menu are without the legal tax. It means that at the final bill we had the price as un the menu plus 18% for legal tax. In top of that another 30ish usd for service tax.
We had almost 100usd obly in legal tax and service tax.
Overall was really good but a bit overprized (at least guests could be informed that legal tax are not included in the menu prices)

I heard some many great things about the Jellyfish restaurant so I decided to make a reservation. We were seated immediately. I love the local band coming to each table to perform and asked what type of music we liked. I didn't like the fact that it seemed like the waiter was trying to upsell us on more expensive items on the menu. I asked for the fish, they were out, I asked for something else, they were out. He always circled back around to the most expensive lobster. The waiter also rushed us to order and said that he was expecting a large party to be arriving. We were at the restaurant for two hours and no large party came. The restaurant is beautiful and I would love to give them another try when I visit the island again.
