Visited this place for dinner on May 31, 2012. The place is not bad, but not great either. We went there because it was our first night in the Zona Colonial and Meson de Luis was a block from our hotel in calle P. Billini. The food is ok for someone trying dominican food for the first time, but not... More

After reading the majority of the reviews about this place, I had to do a double take and check that this was indeed the place I was about to review. This is some of the best Dominican food I've ever had! And I'm Dominican, actually born and raised here, with lots of rural traveling baggage. So I've eaten in my... More

My husband and I went there twice. The first time we ordered pork chops with rice and beans. The food tasted fresh, it was delicious and the price was right. However, the pork chops tasted like ham (smoked) and although tasty, it was not what we had in mind. The second time my husband ordered chicken criollo and he was... More

Two nights ago, we decided to check out the Zona Colonial (colonial zone) of Santo Domingo since everything was a stone's throw away from our historic hotel. Someone recommended a good restaurant. When we entered the building, it showed a lot of history and well-preserved 18th century architecture. The walls were decorated with classic bright Dominican colorful paintings depicting carribean... Food was excellent; atmosphere promising but overwhelmed by too-loud music, and a bare light bulb in the staff area shining in my eyes detracted from an otherwise enjoyable dinner.

Stumbled on the place and left uninspired. Central location with limited views of the street.

Just had lunch here .. Got the creole chicken which had some flavour but need hot sauce....then found the chicken to be raw!!! Service is non existent but the tiny cafeteria has a kitchy vibe which makes for entertaining people watching. Two fresh juices and a plate of raw chicken n rice with some salad came up to $17 and... A casual mom-and-pop restaurant, right off the Plaza Colon but catering mostly to locals. A friendly place with very good food, all freshly made. I kept going back.
