Great location on Plaza del Carmen . Live music for some of the time we were eating. Service wasn’t the best but hey! We are in Cuba. It wasn’t too busy in the restaurant either. I’d looked forward to Ropa Vieja as it had been...raves about in reviews but it wasn’t on the menu. The prawn cocktail (see picture) was sloppy. Our last night in Camaguey and hoped for a special meal. It was OK but wouldn’t rush back.More

The food was very good, the service was slow but friendly. They have live music/shows at the restaurant, and can be difficult to get a seat outside.More

We stopped for some nice homemade lemonade during a day of sightseeing. The location in the beautiful Plaza del Carmen is unbeatable. The eponymous church at the top of the square, some interesting galleries and artist's studios, and some quirky sculptures... magic. Whilst sitting at...an outdoor table, sipping our drink, I checked the menu and thought it might be a nice place for dinner. As it was very busy we decided to book a table for that evening. When we returned later we sat inside which seemed more suitable for dining. Our drinks, mojitos and aged rums, were nice, so we enjoyed a few before ordering dinner. My vegetarian partner had a vegetable soup which was ok, but his spaghetti were almost inedible - the tomato sauce probably was just some ketchup, horrible. I fared a little better. My shrimp cocktail was ok but not great. I followed with lamb in a red wine sauce which I liked. The meat was fairly tender, not fatty, and the red wine reduction was very flavourful. But, and this is very unusual for Cuba, there was not a single side dish or garnish served with it, very disappointing for the price charged. We both needed a bit more food, so we had some flan - not the best I have tasted, but quite nice. Service was not the friendliest we had in Cuba, but was quite proficient. Prices were a bit on the high side, we paid CUC34 with a small tip, but that included a few drinks. I wavered between a 'average' and a 'very good' rating, the latter is entirely due to the location and the wonderful views - also in the evening when the church is lit up.More

Recommended both by TripAdvisor and the Lonely Planet of Cuba, but not worth a single star. The staff was unfriendly and arrogant, the food awful. The chicken was dry and unappetizing, the rice was served cold. Just like the red wine, which was much too...cold and tasted sour (did not look good anymore). The date of the drink of my friend turned out to be expired, and the promised sauce with the fish was missing. I was nauseous afterwards. No recommendation worth.More

A special tip from Lonely Planet (place with a star), but a total disappointment. We were seated outside, in front of the restaurant, because we were with a group of 12 and the rest was full. No problem because it is a very quiet street...(plaza del Carmen). Maybe because we were with a group of 12 and the rest of the restaurant was full, we could only choose the 3 course menu. The bean soup was OK. The main course, Ropa Vieja, chicken or Shrimps, all awfull. Chicken was extremely dry, and hard like brick. The Ropa was tasteless. Shrimps were uneatable. Even forgot what the desert was. One of the worst meals during our 3 week tour. Maybe is was the groupsize or the cook had a fight with his wife that day... I don’t know, but based on this experience I wouldn’t recommend it.More
