Pastries are not a strong point in Cuban cuisine. Ordered slices of cake as an afternoon snack, at least were priced in line with the quality. If you really need an afternoon pick-me-up, I'd suggest ice cream instead.
The first time I entered it was empty, for us it is srano that in a pastry there is nothing ... but I came back and I bought a very good puff pastry dolcetto and a specie of cheese muffin .... excellent
Visited Panaderia San Jose a couple of times during our stay in Havana. Baked goods were delicious, and outrageously cheap. A great place to stop and pick up snacks/ a quick lunch while exploring Havana.
