We spent the day at Club Havana between checking out from our hotel at 11:00 am and catching an international flight at 7:00 pm. It was the perfect thing to do before getting on a long haul international flight. Entrance was 25 CUC per person...(20 CUC can be used as credit at the outside bar where food can be purchased) and included access to the club's facilities which include use of a raked beach, sun lounges under shady palm umbrellas, swimming pools, tennis courts, bar, restaurant and health club including showers. The Havana Club established in 1928 once housed the Havana Biltmore Yacht & Country Club and must have been very grand in its day. As in all place in Cuba evidence of this grandeur remains. We swam and snorkeled at the beach (there is a surprising variety of fish to view around the rocks), swam in the pool and had food from the cafe delivered to our sun lounge where we rested and read the day away. The beach was not crowded, clean and well maintained, the ocean water warm (by other than Cuban people's standards - Cubans say the water is too cold to swim in at the moment as it is their winter), the breeze balmy and the facilities provided everything needed. We had a very chilled, relaxing time before we got on our international flight later that day.More

I remember the place since the 70's when I went there in the weekends with my parents. In the 80's was closed for while and after I dint hear to talk about it. I was nicely surprised when I visit it this year again. HH...The Ambassador of Bulgaria and her husband are members of the club and they invited me for a nice afternoon on the beach. I liked the place and the service! The staff is service minded and professional. Highly recommend it for special event and family weekends!More

The photo speaks for itself. The starter was good but the carbonara made me feel ill afterwards. The bacon was non-existent and instead there was ham. Perhaps use an egg if making carbonara.

A fair distance outside the city of Havana but used to be worth a visit before they put the prices up. An "exclusive beach area" with clean sand, bars and reasonably priced restaurants. Also a nice swimming pool with terraces. Used to encourage quite an...eclectic crowd, yet was never crowded, but now only those with too much disposable income or expenses paid by someone else can afford to visit. Shame really.More

We were taken there by members so entrance free, Club Havana is very much a refuge for diplomats, expats and wealthier Cubans. There are plenty of sun loungers and shade to keep them under around the pools and the beach. The beach is very safe...- shallow, protected by a reef and with no rip currents. The sand is raked over by club staff so was pretty clean too although not totally free of floating plastic bags swept in from the sea. We had lunch and drinks from the beach bar one day - not expensive when getting the members discount. The pools look as though they are getting some maintenance with new wooden flooring (so not too hot on the feet in the sunshine). Work was being done on the showers and the tiling around some of them. Very nice pool to do lengths (about 20 metres) plus a shallow pool for small children and a general pool to splash about in. There is a big sports centre and gym but I didn't try it out. The WC's were clean and well supplied but there were no seats on the toilets. Can't comment on the restaurant food. It's not easy to find a sandy beach close to Miramar (10 minutes by car) west of Havana) so this was really niceMore

Great place to relax, swim, and eat at reasonable prices while spending a beach day in Havana. It was not crowded when we went, the beach was clean and the drinks were great. The entrance is 10CUC though you pay an additional 15CUC for food...and drinks inside which amounts to a few drinks or a light meal and a couple of drinks. The staff is friendly, the pools (3 of them) are clean albeit not deep, and there are showers and basic amenities. It has a certain old world charm and I'd definitely recommend it for a quiet day with an evening spent in the nearby Jaimanitas neighborhood.More

We went to La Casa del Habano to purchase cigars, but we were hungry and ended up at El Chelo. Very tourist-friendly with a host who spoke impeccable English, and offered an English menu as well. The meal was the best we had in Havana...and it was inexpensive. Highly recommend this place!More

We went on a weekend day after another tour ended up cancelling and it was a great way to spend a day. It was $30CUC to get in but that included a $15CUC credit toward the restaurant for lunch. The food was ok, the beach...was great and the staff was constantly working to clean the beach area and service the pool. The pools were large and could accommodate many more people than were there that day. We have a lovely day taking in the ocean and relaxing after several jammed pack days of touring.More

This is a nice beach club with three pools and a lovely beach. We ate at the beachfront restaurant and the food was OK, nothing great. The service was fine except the cashier who spend 5 minutes scrutinizing our money as though we had printed...it ourselves.More
