We spotted this place while walking through Old Havana. It was a true respite from the sweltering heat, and the food was tremendous. We loved the squash soup in particular, the cheese plate and my husband said it was the best mojito he had in Cuba. The service was also spectacular. It had a very an old school charm about... More

From the minute we walked in the staff and service was friendly and attentive, without being intrusive, just as you would expect from a fine dining establishment. The food was great and having some of the dishes prepared at the table just added to the theatre of the place. Great music being played by a trio of musicians gave a... More

Cafe del Oriente is in a beautiful building in Plaza de San Francisco de Asís. Upstairs is huge and is appropriate for banquets or tour busses. Downstairs there are smaller tables. The food is traditional...Caesar salad made from scratch at your table for example.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. I was told that government run restaurants didn't serve well prepared meals. However, this was one of the best meals I had in Cuba, and in fact, it may be among my top ten travel meals ever. The service was absolutely impeccable. The wait staff pampers you from the moment you... More

We ate upstairs in this restaurant. Lovely ambience, white table cloths, nice cutlery and glassware, and lovely background music. We were part of a tour and got a set menu, though they were very happy to cater for vegetarians and coeliacs in the group. A lovely pork starter, with a mild chutney and leaves, beautiful lobster with veg and a... More

Everything about this restaurant reminds me of Europe where dining is a more complete experience. Although some of the menu items reflect local favorites like conejo (rabbit) and many side dishes are local, they have a really good focus on the PREPARATION and PRESENTATION of the dishes. I had a chance for 3 visits on my 2 week visit to... More

We ate upstairs which is very nicely decorated, quite elegant. A Cuban jazz group played for us. The salmon was good; the filet was very tasty, but a bit tough.

The space is very nicely restored and decorated. It was among the best in terms of presentation and elegance that we experienced in Havana. The service very good bu the food was not special. My wife had the Argentina beef and it was tough and really disappointing. I had the snapper (pretty common in all Cuban restaurants) and it was... More

This is not the average Cuban restaurant but very exclusive and elegant with a wide variety of food to suit every taste. Situated on San Francisco Square, the tables are impeccably set out with cutlery and wine glasses. The decor is opulant. Our food was ok but probably not worth the extra expense that eating at the Oriente brought with... More

This was the farewell dinner for our intrepid band of travelers. My wife selected the fish and I had filet mignon. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and nicely presented. The wines accompanying dinner, though, were marginal and overpriced.
