Rum runners pizza was often a staple for us, but over the last year or more, the quality has been very hit or miss. While we have not dined in since the start of COVID, we have ordered many times using Dinner In A Box...delivery. The pizzas are either over cooked or too greasy (even just a cheese pizza). Their starters are usually tasty, but not amazing. The non-pizza items on the menu are, again, good but overpriced for what you get. Rum Runners is definitely a resort style restaurant, geared towards the guest of the resorts and other tourists. They have an amazing setting for dine in and bar sitting. Overall, when the food is cooked properly, it is good but overpriced for those not on a care free vacation.More

We have been to Rum Runners often for drinks and casual meals and have always enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We decided to try their Valentine's Day Brunch to see how they approached more elegant fare. We were awestruck at the quality of the menu selections,...flavors and presentation and delighted with every aspect of the meal. The experience began with RR's twist on a Mimosa - "la Mimosa Sabrosa" using refreshing watermelon rather than the traditional orange, providing an appropriate deep pink blush for Valentine's Day. Next we were presented with Eggs Benedict Caribe which tantalized with a slight kick to the Hollandaise. It was paired with micro brioche and a bread board offering spreads from traditional butter and jams to tuna salad. Wait staff never rushed or hovered, allowing a romantic and relaxing "poco poco" island pace throughout the meal. We were soon offered our choice of either a creamy Caribbean bouillabaisse (over clam and funchi) or an intensely rich chicken broth (over croquette with an impossibly thin and crispy chicken skin "flag"). These were paired with crostinis topped with smoked salmon or pico de gallo. The soups were deeply flavored by the rich stock enhanced with wonderful herb and spice combinations. All this would have been enough to whet our appetites for the main course, but the chef added yet another light appetizer: a California-style sushi and a Latin-themed Summer roll that included mango. We arrived at our main course land-sea combination tenderloin and lobster tail beurre blanc with grilled vegetables and yucca Rosti. Both steak and seafood were fork-tender and quite flavorful, and once again the chef's version of the simple butter sauce took it to a new level of delight, enhancing the flavors of the meats. Vegetables were caramelized without being overdone, and the Rosti extra crispy adding a nice contrast of texture. After all these delightful dishes, we doubted there would be room for dessert, but the miniature raspberry cheesecake with coconut sorbet, paired with a micro-sized lemon poppyseed tidbit were just right and a light finish to a lovely meal. From start to finish, it was a wonderfully flavorful experience!More

rumrunners menu was shorter then normal. we assume it is because of covid 19. before the starters you get bread with garlic butter (?). the bread was so old it was not eatable. we asked for starters which are not on the menu anymore. the...waiter told us that he will ask the chef if it was possible to prepare for us. we never get the answer. ( just 4 tables for 2 waiters !)in the end we ordered just main menus. some of us pizza ( always good at rumrunners) but also ribs and ribeyes. it was not good at all. the 350 gr ribeyes (32.5$)was in our opinion not even 200 gr. just a thin piece of meat on a pile of mashed sweet potatoes ans nearly raw vegetables. the meat tasted ok btw. the spareribs meat didnt came of the bones. big parts als not eatable. we mentioned it but no respons to our feedback. not worth the money anymore and a dissapointing evening dinner for usMore

Nice restaurant, well maintained and some reasonably good food and staff. The staff isn’t the quickest and for me the food is not in the top 10 of the island but the total package makes the experience complete. You have a great view over Bonaire...and Klein Bonaire, you will sit next to the water on a small cliff ( just 3 meters) where you will see some big Tarpons swimming. During the COVID period they upgraded the bar and restaurant area. They also have a nice pizza oven and good pizza’s. Thake some sunscreen if you come for an early dinner because you will sit in the sun but if you come at 18:45 you will see the beautiful Bonairean sunset. The prices are reasonable and it’s a good mix for price over value.More

Rum Runners was close to our hotel and an easy walk. The only negative is the sun is bright with little to hide you from the rays during the dining hour. Otherwise the food was good and service can be a little slow, but it...was relaxing. Highly suggest this as a place to dine.More

We had been here before - and rated it highly. Came back for Valentine's dinner. I had reserved a table for four on the lower patio (since we were bringing friends who had never been there). They had lost our reservation. When I showed them...the email confirmation, the hostess took my phone back to show the manager. She returned with the message that "he was too busy to look at emails". Really??? Luckily, she was able to reorganize so we could be seated on the lower patio. But, things did not improve. Our server didn't arrive for about 20 minutes. Drinks arrived after another 15 minute wait. Our dinner orders: my friend and I each ordered a caesar salad appetizer and said we would share a margherita pizza. One friend ordered calamari appetizer and quesadillas for main. My husband ordered a burger and fries. After a long wait, the server came back and said she forgot to put in the calamari order. We said no problem, you can do that now. We sat and waited some more. We actually got up and served ourselves water since no one was coming down to the patio. The calamari showed up. Then, about ten minutes later, the pizza, burgers and quesadillas showed up. The burger and fries were cold and had to be sent back. The pizza was good but it was dried basil flakes (we were expecting fresh basil) and not very hot. The quesadillas were good. We suspect that all the dinners were held at a warming station while the calamari was made. Not impressed. When we were all finished our dinners, another waiter came over and said "here are your salads". We explained they were supposed to be appetizers and he asked "so you don't want them?" Ah, no. We went to leave and the salads were on the bill. Overall, a very disappointing night. The only good thing was the view, but we can get that from other restaurants. It was so different from our last visit where everything was great. I doubt we will be back in the near future.More

Had been to Rum Runners in 2013 and found it to be better than 2020. The menu was a bit limited, particularly for seafood. The Catch of the Day was tuna only. If you are not into rare fish, there goes your choices! We went...to another restaurant the night before, and it had 4 fish choices. When I am in the Caribbean, I want fresh seafood as I can not get it at home. The service was slow and had to ask for water refills. Maybe it was an off night and not the norm but we wont return during out stay although we had intended on doing so. The setting is incredible though and worth going just for the sunset and the tarpons.More

Pizza was excellent - super thin crust that was perfectly salty with a high quality pizza cheese. I was shocked at how good it was. Tender, crispy calamari and very tasty falafel were also ordered and were very good. Drinks were reasonably priced which was...another surprise considering it is a resort. Would have given them a 5 but the service was so, so slow and it was not very busy. I would definitely go bs k for the pizza.More
