An unexpected trip when our reservation for Fourways fell through due a mix up with the concierge booking. The restaurant was packed so without a reservation we were offered a table in the lounge. Our first impressions were that the staff all seemed very stressed and brusque with the exception of Julia who was friendly and polite. Having not planned to visit we were a bit bamboozled by the menu that seems to be trying to achieve too many types of cuisine. Despite this we found dishes that would work together opting for the more Italian style starters and mains. The food was delicious but not particularly outstanding or unique to demand the high price tags. We understand that prices are high on the island and have dined in a number of fine dining establishments so we do have a strong basis for comparison. Given our placing in the lounge we did not feel that we were offered fine dining ambience or service. A number of staff were rude and short with each other and often we felt like we were an inconvenience. My husband was regularly knocked by stressed waiters zooming past his chair. Having discussed the meal we would rate the experience 2 stars, however the food is very good and having some of our waiter service from the much more serene and friendly Julia pushed it up to 3 stars. Frankly I'm disappointed. Perhaps we caught the restaurant on a bad night or perhaps the main dining area provides better service but for the price we paid, we won't be rushing back.

Our experience at Blu was one of a restaurant that tried to be upscale but also took several shortcuts to get there. The menu, cocktail menu, and wine list are extensive and enticing. The prices are about what you’d expect for an upscale restaurant, so even by Bermuda standards they’re only slightly above average. The ambiance inside looked nice, though we sat on the patio which was a great spot to watch the sunset. The presentation of the food and drinks was good but the flavor was only slightly above average. For example, the James Bond-inspired Vesper martini was missing Lilet, an important ingredient. The beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly, but the sautéed onions that topped it were mushy and sad, and were next to tasteless mashed potatoes. My date had the Chilean sea bass which she said was very good. The only thing that really blew us away was the ceviche appetizer. My biggest complain was the service. We felt rushed almost immediately after we sat down. Our appetizer came out almost immediately after the cocktails did. The main course was out within a minute of the appetizer and bread plates being cleared. At a nicer place like this, I’d prefer to savor and enjoy the meal a bit between courses. I didn’t even get the opportunity to order a glass of wine with my main as I wasn’t finished with my martini. For dessert we ordered the lemon tart. It was average at best. And then our server disappeared. For being rushed through the entire meal (start to finishing the main was just over an hour) once dessert got to our table he was nowhere to be found. When we finally got his attention to ask for the check he seemed annoyed, and then didn’t waste an opportunity to point out that though 17% gratuity was already included, if I wanted to I could type in more. I’ve worked in the food service industry and *always* tip at least 20%, but not after this night. In total, I will not return and will not recommend Blu to others. It’s average at best, not something that you want when paying these kinds of prices. We were torn between this and Four Ways, and I wish we had chosen something other than Blu.

This is an interesting place. It is upscale and has the atmosphere to go with it. Service is excellent, in fact it might be too over the top. Sometimes too much attention is overboard. Management seemed to go around and ask all of the regulars how everything was and ignore the tourists. It is noticed and does make an impression. Some of our items included: Brick oven gnocchi, this item was not good. The gnocchi itself was nice and tender, the sauce was awful. The kitchen kept making excuses as to why I simply didn’t like it. Please don’t treat me like an idiot. “Maybe you don’t like the smoked mozzarella”, “The saffron can make the sauce seem bitter” saffron is mild and can be slightly pungent, but if the chef thinks it makes his sauce bitter, why use it? I believe it was simply a bad batch. Tagliere with Burrata was excellent. Great assortment of meats. Burrata was just the right consistency with good fresh flavor. Mongolian Beef was very good.

This restaurant came highly recommended to us by both our travel agent as well as area locals who had heard we'd booked one of our dinners here. It's worth noting that my wife and I dine out frequently and I personally spend a tremendous amount of time in fine dining atmospheres entertaining clients. Experience has taught me that excellent, often more expensive restaurants generally have better service, are more accommodating than perhaps less expensive ones, and frankly they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. This is not at the case with BLU. First of all, and this is a bit of an aside, but while some might find the eclectic nature of the menu to be helpful in large groups, the menu suffers from a bit of an identity crisis, spanning from sushi to Asian fusion to Italian and then to traditional steak house... leaving one wondering what their strengths are. More importantly however, and this is the real point of my review (which I never take the time to write), the restaurant and its staff seemed to embrace a pompous delivery akin to that of a young professional trying to appear to impress those around him but instead being off-putting by pretending to be important. I found this ironic considering that the island and the industry have struggled so greatly during the pandemic that one would expect a high degree of service and gratitude from the patronage (which we've found almost everywhere else we've gone during the reopening). I also found it ironic that, while the quality of the food and atmosphere was very good, it was no better than that of the other restaurants that we chose to eat at and so I'm unsure of why the manager choses to create that type of atmosphere. Nevertheless, I wont belabor the point here, but if you're looking for a great meal with an excellent view, there are a tremendous amount of options to choose from in Bermuda. Given that part of the reason so many of us frequent the island is the genuine kindness and hospitality of its people, you'd do well to avoid dining at BLU, because while the food make be reasonably good, the experience will likely leave a bad taste in your mouth.

View was spectacular perfect for you to unwind and relax. Reception did an amazing warmest welcome for us to be sitted thank you for that! Pauline was well trained on the menu and suggests the good food and keep checking on your table. Most of the staff are very attentive for your request and they response quickly, every course that has been delivered was explained well and can't lie food is freshly made because it's scrumptious! Thank you for making my birthday expectations happen. Kuddos to all the staff!!!!

Our hotel concierge recommended Blu and the food was just fine and our waitress was rude. We felt she rushed us and was visibly perturbed when we weren’t immediately ready to order dessert. She also gave us the (hefty) bill and stood next to us with the credit card machine - not giving us a moment to even review the bill. She was rude, unprofessional, and it was not the service you’d expect at a restaurant that advertises itself as high end and one of the best in Bermuda. The air conditioning was also not working (we were told by the manager) and we were hot and uncomfortable during our entire dinner. I would not recommend.

I work in st Augustine and I live in palm coast I spent well over 160 dollars ALONE at The Garlic. I loved the food and our sever but once going to the BLU bar after eating to get some more drinks and only coming here because it was so highly recommended I was so disappointed with how I was treated by the bartenders, their attitude was negative from the moment I ordered until the time I checked out i am just in utter disbelief with how it’s allowed to be ran I take pride in being able to provide my guests with an amazing and relaxing experience and to feel rushed and disrespected is gross while the owner of the bar was sitting right next to me. You need to do better I 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND the BLU BAR. Impersonal, very unprofessional & uncomfortable.

We had a wonderful meal here. The food was wonderfully prepared and beautifully presented. Our server was very professional and friendly. The view of the Great Sound was breathtaking. Of course, be prepared to bring a fat wallet because it is very expensive, even compared to other Bermuda eateries. The evening started out badly, however, with a hostess that apparently doesn't know that her only job is to be welcoming and customer-friendly. She lost it when we didn't know how to produce and pull up our Covid-19 SafeKeys and told her colleague to "...just seat them" with as much attitude as a badly behaving child. If that's the kind of thing that gets her upset, she should seek another job. We overcame her unprofessionalism and enjoyed the rest of the evening.

In whole island, there is no even one great sushi restaurant and we asked for recommendations for the best one!! Whole island is surrounded by the ocean and sushi everywhere literally sucks. There is no Tori, no albacore, so disappointed, plus prices super expensive and tips were taken without asking. After States practically every restaurant had horrible food, forget even about European stuff rude customer service. We would not recommend this place either!

My sons (aged 6 and 8) and I stayed at the Newstead Belmont where the restaurant is staffed and managed by the same team as Blu. This was a difficult trip for my the boys and me - our first time away on our own following the death or their mother last year We met the general manager, Costanzo. On hearing about our situation he arranged for us to come to Blu and for the boys to make their own pizza. We had a delicious meal and were really well looked after. My fish (cooked by adult chefs 😀) was excellent and the wine selection was extensive. Thank you so much Costanzo and team. Sorry it took me so long to do the write up.

Absolutely correct, if you aren’t a local you’re banished to the lounge! We made reservations two days ahead and I cautioned my wife about being bumped out of the restaurant and it happened! In lounge! Ordered two cocktails, both had to be reaffirmed to get it right! Bread is Mediterranean flat bread and overcooked. We wanted to order 12 oysters as a compliment to our Sancerre after our opening cocktails but the waiter wouldn’t allow us to order unless we ordered everything at once, ok, my waiter controls timing of dinner when I order with my wife? No, ain’t gonna happen! Happy to open wine but never got connection! He wasn’t clear as the specials as his English was limited. Anyway, he kept pushing to take our order so we decided to skip the oysters as it would be rushed and just ordered entrées. We are diners who like to take our time and not all American dine and dash people! Anyway, food finally arrived, swordfish was tepid and kebab un amazing, try using a salt and pepper mix when cooking white fish! Complimentary chocolate was the best part of the meal!

Our rule is to not eat at the same restaurant twice per vacation but our dinner on Thursday night was so good that we had to return. The menu is broad and the food delicious. China from Romania took excellent care of us and Constanzia remembered our names. We mixed Asian sushi with Italian eggplant and cioppino with French soufflé for dessert. Yum!

Must go to restaurant! Food and view of the harbor is wonderful. Service was good but not excellent. The server was not sure what type of fish was in the mixed grill he had to go ask before letting me know. Excellent wine selection and amazing dessert . I had the soufflé that was freshly prepared. You will not be disappointed by visiting this restaurant.

This was a special occasion and the food was delicious the view wonderful and staff attentive. We ordered after telling our waiter (starters and main course)and then waitress (desert) of few allergies and only one mistake was made and the order stopped before it could be consumed so at least it was being taken seriously which is good but some more choices for common Allergies for desert would be nice and consequently I ate my celebration desert alone as my husband couldn’t find anything to have after his was canceled by kitchen. We did enjoy our 2 courses very much ,Both were simple and cooked perfectly. Would have liked more vegetables perhaps.

Blu is our local go to and when they announced a Valentine's Day menu we were in. Beautiful window seat, first class service as always and a menu that was outstanding! From the lobster ravioli, to the tenderloin, to dessert and petit fours, every part was amazing - including the price! Thank you to the Blu team - outstanding job as always. You are our #1 for a reason.
