First the positives---This is a beautiful restaurant that sits above the harbor. Views are out of this world. The food----when it came---was also okay----Perhaps it was simply an off night, but our experience was one of the most comical, keystone cops level bad dinners I've...had in a while. When we sat down, we were greeted by a friendly waitress who took our drink orders----Twenty minutes later---the drinks had not yet come and we had not seen our waitress----She returned with apologies (no big deal) but no drinks and took our order. Ten minutes later, our drinks arrived but only after we the manager came by to ask how our dinner was----We told him, we had just ordered but that our drinks were going on nearly 30 minutes-----He went to the bar and our drinks arrived a few minutes thereafter----So far so good-----After nearly 3o more minutes, our dinner entries finally arrived-----but only half of them. We asked the waitress and then the manger where they were and we were told that the 3 taco dinners were backed up (it was taco Tuesdy afterall)----a few minutes---they requested. We waited....and then waited.....and then waited.....after 10 minutes, those that had received their meals had to started to eat as our food was getting cold. Twenty minutes later, they were done with their meals and our tacos had still not arrived?!?---Througout this time, no one came back to explain what was happening or why half our meals had been offered to us (all more complicated then the taco meals) -No one---including the manager, returned to explain why it required nearly an hour to prepare tacos. Looking around the restaurant, one could envision a brief delay if they were busy but they were at about 3/4 capacity. After we finally finished all our meals, the manager came back offering a half hearted appology for the delay but certainly no free drinks and/or free desert to compensate----Our waitress never came back--did she quit midservice? I wonder....-----No one ever came to bus our empty plates. After about 15 minutes---with no further service, my 80 year old father decided to bus our own plates---taking them himself to the kitchen much to the bewilderment of the staff. The manager finally came back clearly embarrassed. After much deliberation with the staff, he graciously offered $10.00 off of one of our 3 taco entries. Quite frankly, it would have been better if he had smuggly told us to pay and get out. This level of service might be acceptable at the local TGI Fridays-----but not at the 3rd highest rated dinner place on the island--the flagship restaurant at a 5 star hotel that charges 1000 a night for accomodations and offers a dinner for 6 for $500+ US. Our experience was made even more comical by the experiences we had at equivilent restauarants throughout the week where we received excellent service. Perhaps it was a bad day---but this experience reached a level of sheer audacity that it might as well have been a scene from Monty Python or Fawlty Towers.More
