It’s true, this is the best fish sandwich we’ve ever had. And, it was worth walking from Front Street to get it. Keep in mind that this location is takeout only. We ordered our food and then sat outside under a tree to eat. Not...fancy - but the sandwich and fries were incredible. We’re trying to figure out how to get back there before we return home.More

Yes, it's a little tough to find, and I'm thankful that a Bermudan driver offered me a ride up the hill on which this take out sits. And it might be worthwhile to call first: although I arrived during "open" hours, the place had run...out of fish, and I had to wait a half hour while they thawed some more. But the wait worth it: the fried swai was so bountiful and delicious that I barely touched the fries. Swai, you say? Yes, and if you're heart is set on fresh wahoo, it's wise to call ahead, as supply of wahoo--or any other fresh fish--can vary from day to day. I had no complaints with the well prepared swai. Realize, too, that the place has no seating, though the staff kindly let me stand at the counter to consume my meal while it was raining outside. Would I return? Absolutely, and one could argue that you really haven't experienced all of Bermuda until you''e eaten here.More

Just go. Try it. Make yourself get there. It was wonderful. several locals said this was one of the best fish sandwiches on the island. It was. It's big enough for two people to enjoy one. Cash only, no card. Enjoy!

This was our second visit to Art Mel’s. The fish sandwich is absolutely out of this world. I had 5 fish sandwiches during this trip to Bermuda. To me, Art Mel’s is still the best.

Okay - if you would have told me I would be addicted to a fish sandwich on raisin bread with coleslaw on it about a month ago I would have thought you were crazy, but WOW. This is a DELICIOUS sandwich. I truly enjoyed every...bite!! They are about $14 each, and there is no seating inside the business, yet somehow none of these things mattered once we started eating! It's off the beaten path so if you need a way to get there check out A+ Transport Services, we utilized their services and did not regret it! We even got a little education about the neighborhood on top of door to door service.More

Ok … so we all heard the hype. Since we usually cruise to Bermuda and end up at the Dockyard, it’s a bit difficult to get here even after taking the ferry to Hamilton. But on this trip with my mother, we opted to take...a sightseeing tour in a taxi for her to see the island. So, a stop at Art Mel’s was finally within reach and it did NOT disappoint!! Our driver was nice enough call ahead to order us 2 sandwiches (with coke slaw, lettuce, tomato and hot sauce) along with an order of large fries (which we totally did not need). After picking up the sandwiches (a bit pricey at $14 plus extras - totaling $38 cash only) and some ginger beer (across the way from small market) … we made our way to some picnic tables in the shade across from the aquarium in Flatts Village. These sandwiches were HUGE! My DS was able to finish one on his own .. as he’s really a grown man at 24. But my mom and I shared the other … and it was still difficult to do. We barely had room for any fries and they were barely touched. We all agreed that these were the BEST fish sandwiches we’ve ever had! IMHO … the thick raisin bread was what sent it over the top! Looking forward to going back and bringing DH too!!More

Off the main path is this secret thst seems to be local favorite ... no place to sit, no washrooms, this is a true to go place. Fish sandwich is excellent. We ordered with hot sauce and only complaint is it needed a bit more...spice. But check it out for a to go lunch onthe beach.More

My wife and I have visited Bermuda several times and had been aware of Art Mel's for a long time. The trouble is, this place isn't in the middle of Hamilton. It's on the outskirts and not easy to get to, except by car. Well,...if you know Bermuda, the primary modes of transportation for tourists, like us, are the public methods (bus, ferry or taxi). You can rent scooters too, but I'm not fond of taking my life into my own hands. Now, we're seasoned bus and ferry users, but the cost of a taxi in Bermuda is too high to satisfy our curiosity. For while I love seafood, my wife doesn't. Spending a bunch on a taxi to a fish sandwich place that only one of can enjoy wasn't worth the expense. I've had the excellent fish sandwich at Wahoo's in St George, because we were able to take the ferry. That all said, we tried a new form of transportation on our last visit in 2019 (pre-Covid), the electric cars! We rented one for two of the three days our ship was docked at the Dockyard and finally got to Art Mel's! Its a GREAT fish sandwich! The place is a hole in the wall, with zero interior and exterior seating for dining. Basically, you place your order and take it somewhere else to eat. Just don't try to eat the sandwich without help, especially on a hot day! That was my mistake. Once we got our food (the signature fish sandwich for me, chicken tenders & fries for my wife and a couple of cans of soda), we hopped back in our little electric car and drove over to Ft Hamilton to find a picnic table. It was a lovely, HOT day. Given the heat of the day, I was barely able to finish half the sandwich during our little picnic. I wrapped the rest up and eventually finished the whole thing before we got back to the Dockyard, but, I was stuffed and passed on dinner that night. So, was Art Mel's worth it? yes, but you'll need to have an easy way to get to the place and either have a huge appetite or someone to share the sandwich.More

This place is a must for a visit to Bermuda. Hamilton has fine-dining restaurants that are world-class and offer some local dishes, but a sandwich from Art Mel’s stands out because it’s so good and so uniquely Bermudian. It’s cash only and currently take-out only....It’s also difficult to find, even with GPS, because it requires a handful of turns on unmarked streets off a main road.More

You would think that all of these outrageously positive reviews would have to be more hype than reality...WRONG!! We visited Bermuda early September once they opened for Covid travel and our lunch from Art Mel's was nothing short of life changing. It's a HUGE sandwich,...but every bite is more delicious than the prior. Note that you can't eat there, so best bet is to take a taxi and have them wait for you as you order and take the food back to your hotel to enjoy it! This is a MUST for any visit to Bermuda!More

Soooo freaking good. Huge fried fish sandwich. Fresh inch thick soft raisin bread. Fish perfectly fried - not oily. Just the right amount of sweetness from the raisin bread and slaw. YUMMY! Enjoy

I understand that Art Mel's has excellent fried chicken. I've never had it and never plan to... Because their fish sandwich is a gift bestowed upon all mankind by the gods of deep-fried deliciousness. A visit to Art Mel's is no mere fast food run......It is a religious pilgrimage to a divine site of reverence and awe. The sandwich is immense in size, perfectly seasoned, and as ingrained in the fabric of Bermuda culture as the pink sands and azure seas themselves. To pass on the opportunity to visit Art Mel's is not only a mistake, but calls into question the very content of your character.More

This was always at the top of every Bermudian fish sandwich list so of course it was a must. The hype is real though, and I can happily confirm that it is as delicious as I'd hoped it would be. I would recommend that everyone...learn from my mistake though, and don't make your fiancee walk there from the Hamilton bus terminal in the dark after a long day. She won't be happy lol. Having said that, you'll be happy if you've burned a few calories on the journey to get your sandwich as it truly is a monster. Visited Feb 14, 2020More
